I highly recommend Fellsway Auto - unlike many other places, these people are honest and they don't just rip people off. Oil maintenance is recommended at the correct intervals, and they don't automatically charge you for quick diagnoses. When an auto body shop quoted me $2000 for unnecessary repairs, the people at Fellsway informed me that no real damage was done, and that I could get away with doing absolutely nothing if I could live with the slight cosmetic damage (which I could). I have never had such a good experience at a mechanic. I have been in Boston for 6 years and my one steady complaint is that I just didn't feel like I had a mechanic I could trust. Scratch that complaint. Someone suggested Fellsway at my place of work. He said he had been going there for 15 years with no complaints. I went right to Yelp to see the reviews, and while they were good, there just wasn't very many of them (which is why I am here now writing my first review). The labor on my car came in under the estimate with a new inspection sticker included. The folks at Fellsway didn't just fix my car, they trouble shot the issue and showed me exactly what the problem was. I highly recommend this business. I've been going to Jimmy (Fellsway Auto) for just over 25 years now (I could stop my review there, that should tell you everything you need to know). I live in the south shore and I still will schlep it up to Fellsway for any car work, I won't go to anyone else. Jimmy is great, and his son John, who's doing a lot of the work now, is an apple that doesn't fall far from the tree. Honest, helpful, and I can't tell you how much money they have saved me over the years. Just for kicks I've called dealers they did to find out how much it would cost me for whatever work they have done at Fellsway and their estimates are hundreds of dollars above what I paid at Fellsway. Between my wife and I we've had 7 different cars go through there (some better than others) and they can take anything on. I've recommended them to everyone I know. read more

I didn't know what was wrong with my car except that it wouldn't start reliably. I knew at the least I needed to get my car battery or starter replaced ASAP. I called a number of local shops and Fellsway first said that they were shorthanded and would probably not be able to get to it on the same day. After hearing the same thing from other shops, I called them back. They said that I should drop it off and that if there was a cancellation, they would take a look. They were friendly, optimistic, and professional when I dropped my car off. They said they would call when they knew more. At 3:00 they called to say that the battery was junk and was an easy fix. What I anticipated being a big fix was only a battery replacement. They said they cleaned everything up and sprayed it with some preventive stuff. They also said they checked other things to make sure that all was okay. I can not recommend Fellsway enough for quick, honest, and dependable service! read more

Long overdue review for Jimmy and his staff. I discovered this place when, in 1997, my old Accord decided to croak on McGrath Highway. Fellsway was the closest place to push it to. They were honest, thorough and fast. Since then, they have repaired all of my cars (currently a C3 Corvette and an Acura 3.2) quickly and expertly at fair prices, in some cases working miracles in no time flat. Jimmy talks fast because he is such a busy guy, but takes the time to explain exactly what's gone wrong with the car and what it's going to take to fix it. If you're looking for a fancy place that serves lattes, has slick customer service representatives who will kiss your ass, and "technicians" who don't actually know anything about cars, don't go here. If want your car or truck fixed by real guys who have had grease on their hands for years and really KNOW cars, this is your place. The waiting rooms are nice, the bathrooms are clean, and they don't talk down to women, either. Great place! read more

Jimmy and his crew can't be beat! I'm a competent shade tree mechanic, and went to school for Diesel technology. I do 95% of my own work so when I bring him something its usually a pretty tough job. This review is way overdue. Jimmy and his son are the best. They are genuinely good guys and always fair...and fast. We have taken our 15-year-old car there many times and Jimmy always gives several options for fixes - typically, he steers us towards the less expensive one and advises us based on what he would opt to do for his own cars. I have never felt taken advantage of and always feel well taken care of. We recently bought a second, brand-new car and I take that one to Fellsway, too. Today I noticed a screw stuck in my tire. I went to Fellsway without calling ahead and was in and out in 10 minutes for zero dollars. The screw hadn't punctured my tire, but Jimmy's son marked the spot in case it started leaking so they would be able to fix it should it start losing air. I can't say enough about this place and tell everyone I know about it. These guys are great and deserve all the business they get - take your car here, it will be in good hands, and so will you. read more

Freezing day, cold car. Dead battery, corroded terminals. AAA guy gets me running and tells me it might not start up again, and he won't replace the battery because he's afraid he'll break the terminals and then I'll be stuck. I had to think fast. I called up Fellsway Auto (it's my s/o's car, and he's attached to the dealership he bought it from, 45 minutes away, so we had no relationship with any mechanics nearby), they tell me it's not a big deal, they can fix the terminals, and give me a quote over the phone. I drive right over, they take my car right in, Jimmy quotes me the exact amount he gave me over the phone, about an hour later I drive away, good as new, paying little more than I'd expected to pay AAA. No BS, totally tolerant of my extra neurotic questions all the way through. I'll be in the market to buy a used car soon, and it is so, so clear now who I will be taking it to for repairs. I wish I could find a dentist and a PCP that were this up front, trustworthy, and good at what they do. read more

I've been going to Fellsway Auto almost since I've been driving, over twenty years, and Jimmy is not only an unbelievable mechanic he's a good guy and he would never over charge anyone. You don;t stay in business as long as Fellsway and have the devoted customer base they have by taking advantage of people. They also get the work done quickly even when it's a breakdown situation and you don;t have an appointment. I have also brought used cars I've been considering buying to Jimmy to have him check them out and he never steered me wrong. The one time I didn't listen to him (I was young and the car was very pretty) I lived to regret it. My husband owned a BMW 3 series and they are expensive cars to fix and yes you can find just about everything cheaper online but when time is a factor then you have to buy from a brick and mortar store you pay more for the convenience. Frankly I resent you besmirching a good and honest mechanic since they are so hard to find. I'm certain Jimmy has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Many times he has told me when he thought an expensive repair wasn't worth spending the money on and offered me less expensive solutions to get me back on the road. There is a reason Fellsway Auto has so many five star ratings and what ever happened with that lady and her BMW I'm sure there is more to the story because Jimmy would never intentionally over charge anyone it's just not the way he rolls! read more
