Low cost, honest work at fair prices. There's not many of these places left. Plain and simple. They do honest, good work and don't charge a fortune. The shop is small and disorganized, but you don't go here because they're good at organizing papers, you go because they're honest and do good work. I randomly called Precision Tire to see if they would be able to help me with getting new tires for a Jeep Wrangler that I bought as a XMAS gift for my sister. The gentlemen on the phone (Jeff) was great -- explaining what they could do -- but moreso letting me know that if we wanted to add large tires, we would need extended shocks, a lift, etc. -- and he recommended me to a group in Woburn that specializes in Jeeps. He could have very easily said "we don't do that", but took the time to explain everything, give me ballpark costs, and refer me out to a specialist. After $3100 Repairs to my Grand Marquis from a highly reputable Ford place, I had a slow leak in the new Michelin tire. Local gas station guy said valve stem. Son called Ford complaining his Mom, 88, could be stranded on road for sake of a new $3 valve stem. I Went back to Ford a week ago and Joe added air and lectured me on Nails. I've had rotors replaced, a ball joint replaced, and new tires put on (these issues spread over two or three separate occasions over the past two years). Called Jeff on a last minute request. Recently had front end body work done on my vehicle at the dealership, and I requested that the dealership perform an alignment and balance. Turns out the balance got significantly worse than before, plus the dealership claimed that one of my wheels was distorted and couldn't not be balanced properly. I was in a hurry and needed to get the wheel replaced or fixed within 1-2 days, in preparation for a road trip. I called Jeff at Precision (among some other well rated tire shops) to see if they could get me a wheel replacement to match my other 3. Jeff asked me to bring my car in so he could inspect the wheel, see if it was repairable. Best part was he worked with my schedule, and accommodated me to come in right away because I was available at his other appointment slots. This was the most appreciated part of my experience. Turns out the wheels were simply off balance, by quite a bit. He rebalanced them, and they are riding great. Cost was ~$16/wheel after tax, extremely reasonable, if not cheap. Ronnie and Jeff showed great worksmanship: Checked for wheel looseness, checked air pressure on all tires, used a torque limiter on the impact wrench specified for my vehicle, screwed on lugnuts by hand before tightening with impact wrench, used star pattern tightening to ensure even wheel attachment. Other reasonably competent shops would probably have been able to balance the wheels just, but Jeff and Ronnie's personality/attitude/willingness to explain everything sealed the deal. The shop isn't anything glamorous or pretty, but everybody will agree that they would much rather have a shop really understands and knows what they're doing than a have superficially pretty looking garage. Dealerships do too many different things, and they aren't very experienced in most of it. read more

I went to Precision based upon the YELP advice, and my first experience with using a YELP only eval for a business to do stuff like alignment on my car. I can very happy with the work. Ended up being @ 170 bucks or so for alignement, balance and rotation. They cleaned my brakes and charged me for that - but they were up front about what needed to be done, so I am cool with that - I'll be going back soon to have them do the brake job I now know I need. My occasions for needing services from Jeff and his team were just fixing flats (three of them) in the 18 months since I moved to Arlington. Today I needed four new tires for my van. I checked online pricing for other sources to get a sense of what my costs would be and then I talked to Jeff. His knowledge of tires is huge and he did a great job of asking how I use the van and what my expectations for new tires on it are. He then gave me his recommendation and his price was very competitive. After confirming that the chosen tires were immediately available we agreed on a drop-off time later in the day. He had it ready exactly in the time he estimated and also told me that they checked the stored temporary spare tire and found it completely flat due to never having been used since it was new in 2002. After inflating it and checking for leaks and finding none, I was on my way. A very happy customer. The Precision Tire Office has nowhere near the same polish as a dealership facility or major tire chain, but they've got nice and honest folks which is what matters. Had a ball joint replaced on my 2003 Nissan Maxima. Price quoted was excellent considering they were using a Moog ball joint with a built in grease fitting. Work was done quickly in a few hours. These guys seem to have a lot of experience working on tire and suspension, unlike the young kid that balance my tire at the tire chain store. This place has restored my faith that not all auto shops are out to get unassuming customers. The people are really nice. They go the extra mile to help you find what you need (e.g. the owner called various distributors for a week looking for a replacement tire for me that had been discontinued.). The prices are very reasonable - $25 all in to change each snow tire which are off rims. It's not crazy busy like some of the big places - like Direct Tire. The service is fast. The people are honest, helpful and friendly. I almost didn't want to write a review because I'd rather keep this place a secret. But, given how helpful they were to me, I feel I owe it to them. First time in my life that I've had to buy 4 new tires for any vehicle. I was told by the Subaru dealership and my non-dealer trusted mechanic that my tires AND brakes were shot and a nasty accident was imminent. I chose to address the tires first and Lou sent me to Precision; he said, "I send ALL my clients there when they need tires." I did some research so I wouldn't sound like a complete greenhorn when I showed up at Precision and explained my situation to Jeff. He was able to explain in non-mechanic language what the internet left out.
