So I went to another mechanic that I trust to have it checked out and he told me there was nothing wrong with the car. He also told me that he sees more and more people coming in after getting their oil checked by Cousins and being told they need all sorts of work done. I also told an acquaintance about my experience and he told me that his mechanic says the same thing - people come in crying because Cousins told them all sorts of things were wrong with their cars and he checks and finds it not true.

They brought my car into their garage and let it warm up so they could remove snow caked inside the wheel wells. I got an oil change at the same time and they only charged me for that and provided me with a loaner for no charge! Now you know what a dealership service department would do in a situation like that: gouge you for a ton of unnecessary stuff. Rob was booked solid, but he squeezed me in and got the car done in a day. I was sitting down when I called to inquire about the bill. But it was very reasonable. Rob explained that he checked all the known trouble spots on the car and everything was fine. All it needed was the water pump and thermostat assembly and there was no need to replace anything else. Anyway, to make a long story short day, accepted my daughter's vehicle and gave her an appointment within three days of me speaking to them on the phone. I brought my daughters vehicle. They did an appraisal on it and gave me a written estimate for the work that had to be done. This was a special case I'm not sure if they charge everyone for an estimate but my daughter brought it to a bad shop so her timing belt was fixed in incorrectly so they had to investigate before doing any work open up the compartment and check everything out.. They were extremely fair with the pricing. I believe I got an honest estimate and they went ahead and sent it to me via email and I approved it through the electronic system. it took approximately five days for them to complete the job. They needed special parts and special tools. the whole time I was kept up-to-date. Everything was definitely handled professionally. After three days, they asked me if I wanted a loaner car, this was the only negative kind of a hilarious part of my transaction with them. I went to pick up the loaner vehicle and I'm not sure what possessed me to take a peek around around the whole vehicle. I noticed that the inspection sticker was out of date so even though they offered to let me use a car for free at that point just left it there and went home. a couple days later my daughter was finished she went. They accept all sorts of payments cash payment I believe and credit cards. Her bill was extremely reasonable for the inspection and the work that had to be done. I would 100% to David and his crew. I believe they're hard-working and the shop is clean and presentable. I would bring an $80-$100 K car here for them to work on it no problem.

Ok - so I am REALLY picky about who fixes my car. More picky than I am with say - who cuts my hair,…read moreor who does my nails. Explanation: I drive an old Saab convertible. I have been driving old Saabs for 10 years now and I love them. I could probably fix many of the problems better than a 'generic' (read: non european car specialist) mechanic. Most mechanics look at my car and laugh at me. Literally. A number of them have actually given me a ton of free service because they can't figure out the right thing to drain for a simple oil change (this has gotten me, among other things, a free transmission fluid service and a radiator flush). What this means is that when I need something big done to my nearly 20 year old car that I love dearly, I need to find someone who isn't going to make whatever problem worse than it is. Or send me home with a handful of new problems that I subsequently won't be able to afford to fix. Enter European Motorsport. Other than the guys back at home in CT who have been fixing my many Saabs for as long as I have been driving them, this is the first place I have been in the area that actually knows what they are doing, and won't rake you over the coals the way a dealer will. Don't get me wrong: This doesn't mean they're cheap. What this does mean is that you know they are fixing the problem you actually came in for, using quality (Saab or Bosch, usually) parts, and leaving happy instead of wondering how long its going to take you to notice that something is MAJORLY wrong that wasn't when you went in. For simple oil changes and the like, I usually head to a quickie, no appointment place (because planning ahead is NOT my forte) but for anything requiring a half a brain and actual experience with foreign cars, this is where my old Swedish friend comes. I feel much better knowing the person working on my car has actually seen one before! If you have a Saab, Volvo, BMW, or any other European car that needs some tlc, bring it here.

I can say that he has literally saved me $$$ doing the work that he has done. I brought in my vehicle with a check engine light on at 6:00 pm on a Friday night (yup, after the shop closed) and he worked on it for forty five minutes, fixed the wiring issue and treated me fantastically.
