Fusion/Femina and my specific PT, Kasia Gondek, helped heal me after many years of pelvic and vulvar pain. I was diagnosed with Neuroproliferative Vestibulodynia, which had caused many years of tension and muscle guarding that created added muscular pain to the area on top of the nerve pain that comes with the condition. I ended up getting a vestibulectomy, and pelvic PT was a critical part of my post-op care. I had to re-train those muscles to exist in a relaxed state and trust that the vestibular pain was no longer there. It took hard work, but the care, intelligence, patience, and empathy that I received during that time was next-level. I can't imagine going through that difficult time without anyone but the extraordinary Kasia Gondek. She was a safe space for me to really feel difficult feelings from so many years of pain, but also poor treatment from ill-informed doctors. I came to Femina in a state of pain and desperation in February 2022. To be frank, I was experiencing debilitating pelvic pain and had run the gamut of many tests (hormonal panels, UTIs, pap smear/cancer screening, etc.)before I started researching pelvic floor therapy options. And that's when I came across Fusion/Femina and the amazing work of Kasia Gondek, PT extraordinaire. I started seeing Kasia in February for pelvic floor treatment and hip impingement (pain in hip, groin, very tight hamstrings, psoas, IT). Too much sitting WFH, too little movement. Kasia is exceptional. We outlined an 8-week plan initially, then extended as needed. Met 2x/week at first, then tapered down once I got stronger. And I did get stronger. Pain subsided, then gone. Kasia's skills, demeanor (positive, encouraging, kind), overall communication skills, and knowledge are exceptional. She is an expert in physical therapy. She did manual treatments during my sessions, and then when I progressed, we did strength training, including some work on the pilates reformer, in the studio. She recommended solid equipment for purchase (exercise strap, ball, yoga cushion and block, and pelvic wand), all of which I used diligently. Unfortunately I have some other physical issues that came up at the end of August (torn labrum, bone spurs on hip) that will require surgery. BUT the pelvic floor recovery and my overall progress was really due to Kasia's amazing work. Montrose studio is also clean, open good hours (M, T 7:00 a.m. - 6 p.m.). The front staff (especially Iris) were pleasant and very responsive (sometimes I had to cancel or move appointments - they were great with scheduling). I am so thankful for this place! After having my second son, sex was just not the same...it was painful. I was seeing a pelvic floor therapist through my insurance and was not seeing any improvement and felt I wasn't getting well rounded treatment (based off a pelvic floor therapy Instagram account I follow) so my husband and I agreed to pay out of pocket to try Fusion Wellness. I called to schedule an appt and was scheduled within a week. The front desk girl was always friendly and super helpful. They are taking every COVID precaution as well; I felt very safe being there. I saw Lisa Weeks at the La Canada office once a week for 4 weeks, sex is back to what it was before and I even graduated already thanks for the quick healing!! Lisa has a background in personal training and physical therapy so she treated my whole body and even helped me activate my core and prepare for working out again. Fusion Wellness has been such an answer to prayer, i'm so glad I found them! I've been struggling with vaginismus my whole life, but didn't have a name for it until about 6 or 7 months ago. Even once I did have a name for it though, I didn't know where to begin in getting help. My OB/GYN had me get a set of dilators, but I couldn't even insert the smallest one by myself. Most times I tried I just ended up frustrated and in tears. I felt really alone, like I was broken and didn't have the energy to keep trying. When I got engaged a few months ago though, I realized I needed to get answers so i wasn't dreading my honeymoon. It took a while to get insurance to approved treatment, but it was so worth the work! In just a month of meeting with my PT, Lacey, I have made incredible process! We are so grateful for Fusion Rehab and Wellness! My daughter's Othopedic Doctor refereed her for physical therapy for a gymnastics injury and treatment of two high ankle sprains! It was right before her State Meet Competition. We really needed to get in as soon as possible. The therapist she was originally referred to was completely booked for evaluation however they checked their other location in Spotsylvania and were able to make a quicker appointment. My Daughter's therapist was able to straightway identify with my daughter's pain and came up with a plan specifically to suit/accommodate her needs as a gymnast. She felt so comfortable with the level of knowledge, time and care that had been given she wanted to continue with her for treatment. We were just getting started good when the coronavirus shut downs began. When the Governor called for additional social distance measures the leaders and facilities immediately began even stricter measures and prevention measures to comply with all the guidelines while maintaining critical care and treatment during this crisis. They have taken extraordinary measures to clean after each patient as well as to maintain social distancing and appointment numbers in compliance with CDC and State Standards. The level of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness of the Director and staff is outstanding. I find them to be very purposeful, caring and considerate. Fusion Health and Wellness has honestly changed my life. Before receiving treatment at Fusion, I was going to doctor to doctor to try and find the answer to my pelvic pain. Fusion Wellness PT changed my life forever and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to get the help I received from them. I am from Alaska and had looked around for a Doctor for about 3 years after first realizing that sex was painful(and continued to get worse and worse). I never found a Doctor I felt had the answer to the root of the issue. I had seen probably a total of 8 OBGYN's(who should know about this), 1 PT, and 6 normal doctors and they all diagnosed me but never gave me a path to head down. When I first contacted Heather, she responded immediately and let me know how exactly she could meet my needs. After a bit of corresponding emails I decided to move to California for a few months and try this. Heather thought that to make the most of my time there I should do 3 appointments per week for at least 4 months. So in a matter of weeks I was living in LA and going to their awesome office 3 days a week. At my first appointment when Heather performed the muscle trigger release technique internally, I felt the pain dissipate within a matter of seconds. I was totally shocked. I had never had this experience and to me this was a huge deal. After my first appointment, I cried with my husband and told him how excited I was to have finally found an answer to what seemed like the impossible. Heather explained things in a very clear way that made perfect sense to me. She is extremely knowledgeable and has SO much experience with vaginismus patients. No other doctor had an answer for me right away, let alone the right answer. Every appointment I went to I felt like I was improving in some way or another. I am forever grateful to Heather and Lacy for all they did for me and all the explaining and time they spent working with me on various things. I like to ask a lot of questions and they were more than willing to answer any and all questions I had. After about 4 months of this therapy I was able to have pain-free sex for the first time. I know LA traffic can be a pain but there was always somewhere to park outside the office and its in a nice part of town(Starbucks down the block). It was simple to get there and get back to where we were staying which took away a lot of the stress. There are many places to stay near by, so if that is a concern of yours, don't worry!!! Heather was extremely helpful in letting my husband and I know about all the fun things to do in LA. She always made us laugh when we came in the office and we always felt at home there. Heather also has a very professional but caring demeanor that always made me feel comfortable. Beth(the front desk lady) was amazing in helping us find places we needed to get things and very down to earth and kind to us. Lacey always had lots of good info for us and always listened to what we had to say and was willing to talk about anything. Here is an update from my ongoing issues with getting my money after my 2 appts with Fusion Wellness. It's been an extremely frustrating experience dealing with this and it's one of the first times I have never gotten my reimbursements in 3 - 4 weeks. I feel like the truth may lie somewhere in the middle but with my insurance continually pointing the finger at Fusion Wellness and Fusion pointing the finger at Care First Administrators it's hard to figure out where to lay the blame. I will say this I have filed a complaint with the CA Department of Insurance because I have now gotten a completely different story from my insurance company. Initially they said Fusion had my checks and that they had been sitting on them. This apparently was not true. They rec'd my checks on 9/18/18 and the checks were cut on 8/29/18. So clearly my insurance was lying - my apologies to Fusion. I really did think they double dipped, I was wrong. However to be fair to my insurance company they said that Fusion submitted the claim to Blue Shields CA when they should of submitted the claim directly to them. The supervisor indicated when claims go through Blue Shields CA then they are only able to send payment directly to the provider - now whether this is true or not I have no clue, the woman I spoke to was a supervisor but again I already caught them in one lie so this could be false as well. Fusion mailed me the checks instead of mailing them back to Care First administrators and now this has created a whole other set of problems as my insurance does not want to cut new checks until they receive the first set of checks so now I have to mail the checks to Care First Administrators. All in all this has been a hellish experience and a huge waste of my time. I would suggest everyone continue to stay in network because the system is just set up to fail otherwise. read more

Even with a relatively easy birth with no tearing I was having issues with urinary incontinence. Ladies- It's not normal or ok to have to live with this after you have a baby! I wish i could give this place 10 stars!! I have been suffering from vaginismus for 5 years and never found the cure to it. I had seen an ob/gyn and he diagnosed me with vaginismus and told me i needed a surgery to cure my condition, which i refused to do. He also referred me to a PT that he works with, i had given them multiple calls and they never responded back to me, so i started searching yelp for another PT. I am SO HAPPY I found Heather's office! I was working with Laureen, and with her guidance and techniques i was able to be cured from vaginismus in only 2 1/2 short months!!! I couldn't believe how quickly their program worked for me! I am forever grateful and thankful from Heather, and Laureen! They are the absolute best at what they do! I have been going to see Heather for a while now, and I can't tell you enough how much she has improved my quality of life. Heather specializes in issues like pelvic floor, but I see her for other orthopedic issues. I have a lot of chronic joint pain and dysfunction issues (back, hips, neck) that require that have ongoing physical therapy maintenance. The effects of my problem joints/areas overlap and interconnect with each other in complex ways, so helping me requires really having a complete understanding of the entire skeletal and muscular system. Pain does not always appear where the problem actually is, the human body is a twisty, many-layered puzzle. I have an exercise program I do at home and I am very functional, but there are just something things I need a PT to help me out with. I had been seeing someone out of state for several years, so when I moved to CA I had to find a new PT. This was a painful process, both literally and figuratively. I have seen DOZENS of PT's in the area and was unable to find anyone who could deal with the level of complexity of my issues. Part of this is because I was trying to find an in-network provider, but so many of those offices just want to get patients quickly in and out the door - quantity over quality. Those types of places can offer perfectly fine, efficient, and less expensive treatment for simple issues, but I am anything but simple. I also kept having PTs be completely dismissive of what I knew and understood about my own body from my previous YEARS of intimately getting to know my issues. I actually walked of one evaluation in the middle because the guy was so condescending to me (not to mention wrong about my diagnosis). Not only was this frustrating and demoralizing, but I went months without getting help which made all of my problems keep getting worse and worse and worse. By the time I found Heather, I was a complete mess, in constant pain, and I could barely turn my head because my neck was so messed up. Right away she impressed me with her knowledge and experience. I told her about my history and the type of treatment I got from my previous PT, and she LISTENED. A lot of PTs assume a patient doesn't know anything about what is happening in their own body. Even if they don't have much experience, the patient's interpretation of what they feel is important to understanding the issue, and it makes them feel understood, validated, and in good hands. She explained her approach, and when she does things that differ from my usual experience, she explains what she is doing and why. She is extremely professional and courteous, I don't feel uncomfortable talking with her or having her work on me. When she does to manual work, you can feel that she clearly understands what she is doing, and she is GOOD at it. Her treatment plan for me is a mix of manual therapy and in-office + home stretches and exercises (this will all vary based on your issue of course). She wants to help you get better, but she also emphasizes preventative care and tries to give you the skills and knowledge to take care of yourself so that you (ideally) don't need more PT in the future. I also appreciate that she occasionally takes continuing education courses to learn new techniques from other PTs, and keeps up on new research in the field. Together we have even made progress on my issues beyond where I was with my previous PT - I'm not the kind of person who will probably ever be able to go completely without a PT in my life, but working with her I can see a future where I don't need it very often and I'm mostly pain free. I can't thank Heather enough for what she has done for me, and I'm glad I have someone I can trust when I need help. This has made me feel better physically, emotionally, and made me more functional and productive in my life/work. You will be in excellent hands with her! read more

Life-changing. In less than a year - and in my late 60s! - my whole body and body awareness has changed. I haven't felt this in touch with my core since before I became a mother in my early 30s. I despise most PT- stupid boring repetitions for no apparent reason; I always hurt myself internally trying to "do it right." With Heather, I was outspoken about doing it my way and why I wanted to do it my way. She let me, and worked to understand WHY, so that, once she understood, she could gently address my awareness to those parts of my body that hadn't been heard from in decades, and to introduce myself to them and ask them to respond - to breath, to slight contraction - NOT to pounding exercises. She is amazing. Expensive - and worth every penny. I save on the clothes I used to buy incessantly to try and make me look (I thought!) the way I used to. Instead, I'm feeling the way I used to. And that is worth its weight in gold. And my weight is going in the right direction without my having to feel deprived. Kudos, Femina PT, Fusion Wellness, and Heather. Also her masseuse partner, Mary, who can "see" the body with her hands. And her yoga partner, Nancy, who has created supportive restorative yoga positions for me. Heather's unique physical therapy program literally changed my life! After years of struggling with vaginismus, a condition that made it impossible for me to have intercourse and very difficult to use tampons without pain, a gynecologist referred me to Heather. I was nervous for my first appointment, but Heather's professional and friendly demeanor put me at ease. She did a great job explaining each technique she was using to help my muscles relax. Heather uses a combination of internal and external stretches and exercises to relax the pelvic floor and build muscle strength. I went to Heather after the birth of my third child. It was lucky, really, that I was referred to her, because my doctor had referred me to a surgeon for a possible hysterectomy or pelvic wall rebuild. Thankfully, I went to Heather before undergoing either surgery, she was able to fix the problem. She has studied extensively in women's health--even written a book about it--and was able to diagnose my problem, suggest a course of treatment (6 weeks), and then follow through with said treatment. By the end, as she said, I was as good as gold. Boy, was it worth it! Though uncomfortable to talk about, much less write about, it is worth getting the word out there. If you have painful intercourse, especially after birth or other trauma, the treatment may be as simple as Physical Therapy (with Heather, of course). I highly recommend her. read more

I started seeing Heather in October 2014. For more than two years, I had been suffering from painful urinary tract infection type symptoms after my bartholins gland surgery which included constant burning and urinary frequency sensation that led to more and more painful intercourse (vaginismus). I had made multiple visits to internist, obgyn and urologist's offices, went through a range of treatment with UTI and bladder frequency medication that included antibiotics, vesicare, estrogen cream, but nothing worked. I had to limit outings and trips and intercourse. I was really desperate and feeling despondent when I finally found Dr. Tarney at UCLA who referred me to Heather for pelvic floor therapy, primarily to help with painful sex, but maybe the other symptoms as well. Since I had been suffering for so long, I didn't have my hopes high when I first met Heather and she told me that I would see a difference in a few weeks. I was even more skeptical when she showed me the dilators that I had to buy and the pelvic floor exercises I had to do at home since other than my husband, I had never inserted even a tampon ever before. But I really liked Heather and the way she explained everything thoroughly. I could tell she really knew her stuff and I held on to that belief tightly. I stuck to my weekly visits and daily homework and now, little more than a year later, I am so thankful that I did. I have no more painful intercourse. My UTI symptoms are more or less gone. I can enjoy time with my husband and outings with my friends. It has been a gradual, at times slow and almost subtle process for me, but thanks to Heather and her team of fantastic therapists, I am better. Now, when I go for a therapy session, I feel pressure instead of pain and it has become a walk in the park. Heather got me through the initial trial stages, but as I made progress and advanced through the dilators, she introduced me to Laureen who included lymphatic drainage in my therapy sessions and which I really felt aided in my progress. To fit my work schedule, I continued both the pelvic floor and lymphatic drainage with Beata, who, although the newest addition to the team, is just as skillful and thorough, and helped me maintain all the progress I had made. Throughout this whole experience, I have constantly wondered why none of my other doctors ever mentioned this therapy to me. It would have saved me two years of absolute discomfort and misery and possibly less time in therapy. I am truly grateful though that I was referred to Heather because she understood the source of these issues right away and worked on them directly. It did take time and a lot of patience and dedication with the home exercises and regular office visits, but Heather and her team guided and encouraged me through the process and made sure I was on the right track all the way. I hope no one ever goes through my painful and traumatic experience, but for those women who are experiencing chronic pelvic floor discomfort, I can say from experience that there is hope with pelvic floor therapy and there is help from the Fusion Wellness PT group. They are staffed with top of the line professionals who carefully listen and custom tailor every treatment to the particular needs of each individual and have certainly been the key source of my journey to recovery. read more
