I am SO happy Fen Yang opened back up. The food is as good, if not better, than it was before. The chicken is without a doubt the best quality chicken I have ever had a Chinese food restaurant, the flavors, quality, portion size, just everything about every dish I have ever had is second to none. The staff is always pleasant and very attentive. Easily the best Chinese food place in the area (between Marblehead, Salem, Swampscott- at least). Buyer beware!!! I would have given them 0 stars if I could. My husband went to pick up take out last night and instead of charging us $101.36, they charged our debit card $1,001.36. Fortunately, my husband looked at the charge amount before he signed the receipt. He pointed out the error and they voided the charge. However, even though they voided the charge, it is still pending in our account and the funds have been withdrawn (both the mistaken charge of $1,001.36 and the correct charge of $101.36). We have been told that we may have to wait up to a week for the funds to be returned to our account. Needless to say, a pretty big inconvenience! You would think that Fen Yang would apologize upside and down for the error and offer to give us a coupon for a future visit. No! They just said sorry... that was it. Just sorry! Even after my husband asked how they were going to make this right for us, they told him all they could offer him was "sorry". I work in the customer service business and am frankly shocked at their response. This is not the first time they have screwed up our order and we won't be back. read more

Have been a loyal customer for many, many years even through changing hands. Went in last night with a coupon from their take out flyer they mailed to me for a free crab Rangoon with a $30 purchase (we spent over $50) and they said it "expired last month". There was NO expiration date on it and the coupon said it couldn't be used on Christmas or New Year's Eve (3+ months away)....its a ploy to get you in there to spend money. Made me feel embarrassed and angry. How dare you cheat a customer over a measly $6 promotion. Lost my business going forward for poor customer service and a ploy to get people in there. We were docked in town on the Sunday of a holiday weekend and many things were closed, but nit Fen Yang House. We were looking for something healthier and more refreshing than the typical burgers-lobster roll-pizza etc of most of the places still open along this area of Marblehead. Walked into Fen Yang and were seated immediately and given ice water. It was a super hot day and very pleasant inside. We ordered house salads (crisp iceberg lettuce with a little tomato, cucumber, cabbage and lots of yummy carrot ginger dressing-excellent) steamed pork peking ravioli (we all loved them, especially my 8 year old daughter) sweet potato tempura sushi (also a favorite of my kid) salmon-avocado sushi (alaska roll) and two High protein sushi off of the deluxe sushi special menu (spicy crab, avocado, crunchy tempura bits, tobiko, topped with lots of salmon/tuna/yellowtail and and a delicious wasabi sauce on the side). It all came very quickly, and the server was constant with the ice water refills. We had a great experience here. read more

They always get my order wrong. ALWAYS. They have teenagers working the counter and taking orders. Well that is part of their down fall. These teenage girls never know how to take and order and give it to the darn cooks. They always forget something so check your bag before you leave. A very average experience. We started with the egg rolls which come 2 to an order. We were a party of 3. The egg rolls weren't greasy but served very crispy. The wonton soup was more noodle than meat. We had the chicken lo mein and the ginger chicken with string beans. Those dishes were pretty good especially the ginger chicken. The ginger chicken dish didn't come with rice and we had to ask for it. Service was good and prices were very fair. My daughter said the ladies room was very dirty and needed a very good scrubbing and updating. read more

Food is OK, spring rolls are too big but the maki is pretty good. I have one complaint.....CLEAN THE FISH TANK! If the resident fish is hanging out in green dirty water then it makes me wonder how you are handling the fish I order and actually eat. It takes 30 minutes once a month. I feel sorry for that poor fish, it must feel sick and sad in that tank. If I could give them a lower star I would. I had tried them once before and thought it was good. So I decided to order again today. I spent about 45 minutes outside. It's below 30 and windy. I talked with the driver 5+times. He hung up on me multiple times. After 2+ hours of waiting and directing him here I cancelled the order. He stopped a local restaurant down the road. And asked someone. Didn't have to turn down any streets just keep following it. And he couldn't find it. I'm very upset with the restaurant. This is ridiculous. Don't send a delivery driver if you don't know the area. Not to mention the woman answering the phone was very rude and insistent on me just canceling my order, after working a long day I just wanted some sushi. Now I'm even more disappointed. Shocked to see such a low rating for this place. Go for a lunch and get a ton of really good food for like $6.50. Atmosphere is a bit drab but so what? Can't beat the price. Protip: The Mandarin is actually better for dinner, especially if you are doing take-out. The food coming out of this Shithole seriously sucks. The portions are minuscule a ripoff for the price and what we ordered were lunchtime specials . No flavor to the pork fried rice. The lobster sauce with shrimp made me want to puke,ate one shrimp and was sick for the rest of the day. Boneless ribs were glazed with so much sugar syrup I might just as well been eating gummy bears! Last couple visits have been disappointing, food not as good as before the change in ownership. Ordered take out at 9 pm, supposed to be open til 10, but when I arrived I was greeted by a river of water and cleanser flowing down the entry ramp, too much to step through. Finally the restaurant worker stopped so I could negotiate the wet muck and enter the restaurant, which was dark and appeared to be closed at 9:15. Saw my order on the shelf behind the register, but nobody to pay, other than a woman cleaning the sushi bar who refused to acknowledge my presence. The Hunan chicken, once I could get it, was mediocre at best, some pieces of chicken tender, but many stringy, tough and tasteless. This used to be my go to Chinese, really have to reconsider.
