Price has increased 20% since my last visit. Forgivable. Flavor has decreased 75%. Unforgivable. Every time I've had the Double Cooked Bacon in the past I have needed 3 or more napkins. One for the lap and at least 2 more to mop sweat from my head. The food was so perfectly spiced, peppery, tasty, with a lip tingling afterglow. This time? The napkin never left my lap and there was not even a bead of sweat on my brow. No lips tingling. This food was, in a word, boring. OK food, but not the drive out of my way good that it used to be. The portion proportions have also changed for the worse. Much less bacon. Much more rice. I feel like there should have been more meat for the money. The food is authentic and tastes very good/unique. I got the Smokey spicy chicken, an order of green beans (Sichuan), and rice. The two entrees taste delicious. One reason I dropped a star is that it's a bit awkward and expensive to order for 1 person. The entrees typically don't come with vegetables, so I had to order a green bean dish ($14), plus the chicken was like $17, and add rice because it's not included. If you stretch it you could maybe get 2 meals with all this, but not ideal and most people probably would not. The whole thing was $35, but I feel like this would be best to do family style and order a few entrees and share. I probably won't do this again for just myself unless it's a lunch special or with a group. read more

I love love love this place! Easy online ordering for takeout. Best thing about it, you don't need to supply your credit card. You pay at the restaurant when you pick up your order. (There is a small service fee of 99 cents.) The Xiang La Dry Fish Filets (F04) is one of my favorite dishes there. It was quite a disappointment honestly. I felt this way as I am very familiar with real authentic Szechuan food from my trips to Chengdu, China and from numerous dining experiences at more authentic Szechuan restaurants in the U.S. Today, I trusted the Yelp reviews and the average rating of 4.5 stars, I chose this place near my hotel for solo dinner. The two of my three orders were authentic Szechuan dishes - 夫妻肺片 sliced beef and tendon with chili sauce and 麻婆豆腐 Ma Po Tofu - but here at this restaurant, they were so un-authentic. 夫妻肺片was lacking flavor and Ma Po Tofu was totally different from that of Chengdu style, lacking deepness in taste and lacking Ma 麻. This restaurant lacks two major ingredients used in the Szechuan cuisine. Szechuan peppercorns and good house made chili oil. Still, this place was packed and by the time I was leaving, there were a few people waiting outside too but mostly non-Chinese customers. But hey, people seem to love this place. So, good for them. I am just saying this place does not serve authentic Sichuan food. Real Sichuan food is much much better than this. read more

The Old Sichuan chicken was fried grizzle as opposed to their usual chunks of chicken. My team and I visited Sichuan Gourmet for team lunch today afternoon. We ordered a lot of food for the table and shared. The portions are huge with lot of variety. Very tasty, spicy and the dishes were all cooked to perfection. We ordered a lot of chicken, fish (with sauce and dry rubs) , veggies, scallion pancakes Appetisers and main course dishes. We also had the cold noodles, fried rice and noodles. The service was quick and the ambiance was pretty good too! My team visits this restaurant quite often and I had it for the first time today and loved the food. The numbness from Sichuan peppers made the dishes very addicting and wanting for more. I went there today with my family and got a very lousy service so i tipped them accordingly and left restaurant but my family was still inside. They stopped my wife and didn't let her leave before they forced her to change the tip to 15% and made her forged my signature as well. When i went back to ask about the forge signature/forceful behavior - They insulted me and asked me to get out. I have never seen such rude and insulting behavior from any restaurant. Beware If you don't tip a minimum of 15% for their lousy service you will be insulted and kicked out. read more

I ordered chengdu bbq which was a large dish of slightly charred fish, chicken, potatoes and other vegetables. I would order again. Some of the best Sichuan food I've ever had (that's saying a lot)! When you walk in, the restaurant is nicely decorated and it really helps you feel like you are actually in China. My mother's friends with the owners so we've been coming for over a decade. The restaurant's the type that's busy serving customers at all times so it's not ritzy or glitzy in any way - which I believe is a testament to the type of restaurant it is. It's packed most during lunch hours, but also at dinner time - try to go during an off-peak time if you can. The flavors and dishes are authentic and it's fast, fresh service. In between meal times, you might catch the employees handling fresh Sichuan peppers in batches. Our family's favorites are the Sichuan Style Meatball, Sichuan Fish (usually served on New Years or special occasions), and House Special Fried Rice. Take out is incredibly easy with them too! Sadly, the place has gone downhill, in our opinion. May be a change of ownership but doubt we will come back anytime soon, if at all. Portions were tiny, and brown rice still isn't available. We got a seafood dish with scallops, sesame chicken, and scallion pancakes. The former two were just ok, but the pancakes were inedible: totally tasteless. Never thought I'd see the day that I'd throw away scallion pancakes, but I did. The soy sauce served with them leaked out of the container, to boot. Driving around aimlessly on Christmas Day hangry af, wasn't at all expecting this. Authentic Sichuanese flavors at every turn. Lots of Mandarin being spoken at other tables. Zero pandering to American palettes. Fresh bamboo shoots in the Yu Xiang dishes (the classic Sichuan "fish fragrance" sauce that has nothing whatsoever to do with fish, but is just called that. It's a sweet, sour and spicy combo that every Sichuanese chef is expected to master). Since the menu is extensive, I had to order extra dishes to take home since I won't be coming back this way any time soon.
