My husband and I recently had a fence build around our property earlier this year (2011). Of the 4 estimates we had, we chose to go with Fence and Deck Connection due to the estimator's solid knowledge of his company's products. The fence turned out great - we got a 5 foot fence, rather than a 6 foot because we didn't think that we would need a 6 foot fence! One thing that I wish the estimator/sales guy would have told us was how odd it could look next to a 6 foot fence (which my neighbor eventually built). Another thing I noticed was the cigarette butts that I found in my yard from the crew. There were many of them, but just enough to become irritated by it. All in all, the end product is exactly what we needed. They did a great job and I would recommend their work. read more

Fence Connection refused to serve my neighborhood in Baltimore city even though they have performed projects in other areas of Baltimore and in suburban locations of the region that are further away from their offices than my home, and their website states they serve most of the state which is weird because Baltimore is at the center of the state. I can only assume they have negative perceptions of the area and don't want to come here, which is disappointing. read more

I had Fence and Deck Connection install my fence over 8 years ago and true to their word, they honored their lifetime warranty. I saw one reviewers comment doubting the lifetime warranty, but for me, Fence and Deck Connection honored their warranty and they were pleasant to deal with and professional. They did need to schedule me around their regular jobs, but I was very pleased with their original work and the subsequent follow up. When I replace my fence, I will go back to this company. Our gorgeous cedar fence was installed today by Fence and Deck Connection. We got three estimates and the estimator that came out really impressed my husband with his professionalism. He answered all of our questions and explained things at length. He also drew a nice diagram of the yard and sent a drawing of the proposed fence with the estimate. Not only are these guys blazing fast but they also do a fantastic job! They even had to dig up a sidewalk that went around the side of the house to put the post in and tie it into the house. They also had to get a post in right next to a tree which was very difficult because of the roots. The hardware on the gates are first rate. Everything is very straight. Everything was cleaned up perfectly. And this was all done in only 7 hours! We are beyond happy. It's so beautiful I can't stop looking at it. We would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

The office staff are polite and efficient. The installation crew are punctual and very professional. I have reason to suspect the salesperson may be a relative of the owners. As I read in a previous review, Andrew called and acted as if my fence project was "small potatoes" and not worth his trouble. I didn't hear back from him so I called the office to make sure the appointment would be honored. The office staff assured me Andrew would be present. Basically, Andrew arrived and proceeded to call my existing fence unattractive. He gave me a bid and casually informed me that he gave me a price break although he wasn't obligated. The only reason I signed the contract is the cost was less than another competitor and I truly needed a barrier to keep garbage from my neighbor's yard front from constantly drifting onto my property. The cherry on top of the sundae was the salesperson's breath, atrocious. The installation crew and office employees are top notch and persuaded me to leave an excellent rating. read more

We had a wind storm about 4 weeks ago that tore down a huge section of my fence. I called to get an estimate and they sent Jimmy out on a Saturday. I had a competitor out Thursday before. Needless to say the competition was going to replace just the section that was torn down. Fence & Deck Connection replaced that section and the whole front of the house (cheaper) than the competition. Ricky and his crew showed up on time, started work and had everything knocked out quickly. Looks great and they kept things very clean. Paid attention to any and all questions or concerns I had and put me at ease. After looking at the older pieces of fence, I am going to get them to give me an estimate now to replace the rest. BTW FDC, I would like to request Ricky and that team be the technicians when I do the rest of it. I HIGHLY recommend Fence and Deck Connection. The deck building process was very quick and smooth. The estimator showed up exactly on time and was very knowledgable, extremely professional, accommodated our requests, and provided a proposal very quickly (1st draft was done on his iPad before he even left...others were on "back of the envelope" estimates). After getting other estimates, Fence and Deck Connection was the only company able to accommodate our request for our deck (2nd floor townhouse deck with minimal posts so we would have an open backyard). They also amazingly wound up to be the most affordable. They are very technologically savvy, and clearly have invested a lot into the company to accommodate customers needs. We received the plans/drawings very quickly following choosing the company and they were perfectly drawn/organized. The permit process went very smoothly with them and the project was started before we even imagined. The project manager was always in contact with me via e-mail - I don't think I ever had to wait 20 min for a response to any questions, and he always kept me notified of the progress. Same with building process and completion - they tore down our old deck and built the new one within 3 days. The technology that they use to build the decks is top-of-the-line - no other companies we got estimates from were using anything close to their quality (and again, they were the most affordable). I just received the final approval from the county inspector and he also was HIGHLY impressed with the deck - from someone that must have seen many thousands of decks, this shows how good this company is. Finally, I was also extremely impressed by their clean-up process after completion - backyard was completely cleaned up and you could not even tell they were there. My deck had become a safety hazard, so I called around and got a few estimates. Joel came out and took a look around. We discussed my vision for the deck and my plans for the house, afterwhich he made recommendations on what type of work was a must and what type of work he'd recommend. After I decided on the job, the guys came out and replaced several board that were either cracked or rotting. I check the work when they were done and had a few concerns. I contacted Joel about it on a Friday and he had the guys right back out to address the issue on Monday morning. It was definitely my least anxiety-producing interaction with contractors of any kind. This is a great business. Dave King did a great job of presenting us with different options, price matched and started the work right away. Pre-install (permits etc.) and install were seamless. Workers arrived on time and finished on time. The company is very responsive if you have a concern. Deck looks beautiful. I only wish that the company was able to recommend a good company for deck staining. The company recommended, City Clean, was not very responsive and prices were exorbitant. Fence and Deck Connection also does a great job of supporting the community. I recommend them highly! read more

I have dealt with Fence and Deck Connection twice now, having them install two different privacy fences on two different occasions. The first was in March 2008 and the next was in July 2015. I knew what I wanted ahead of time and they were able to provide exactly what I requested. Ben Wolod was my contact and he came out and provided me with an estimate, took care of both the city and county permitting process and was quick at placing the order and setting up the installation. I felt sorry for the men who came on July 20, as the heat was over 100 degrees and they worked their butts off the entire day installing the fence. I was able to e-mail or call and have my questions answered to my satisfaction and I am extremely happy with both fences. Not happy at all. They were contracted originally to install a fence then I called up a few days later and ask them to come out and give me an estimate to install handrails. They provided a change order via email a day later which I signed and emailed back. The day to install came up and they only installed the fence, they stated they never received the signed work order, well that's simply not the case. They then wanted me to email them the copy that I signed which would have contractual obligated me to the contract price for the change, well no way on that. The inconvenience and added cost (I would have to pay my patio contractor to come back later to finish the pavers where the handrail was being installed) needed to be paid by them. We would highly recommend hiring Fence and Deck Connection for your fence and deck project. We had them install a 12 x 14 Trex deck and black aluminum fence in November. From the first contact scheduling the appointment to the final inspection, we found F & D very professional with each interaction. Kevin who was our project consultant was very knowledgeable and gave us good practical suggestions. Kevin brought a lot of samples to our home but I highly recommend visiting their showroom so you can see the full-size material plus it's just a neat place to visit. From the beginning to the end, they were always great with keeping us informed. We were never left guessing. We received three estimates and found F & D's pricing to be in-line with everyone else but they had the best warranty. The installation went very smooth. The installers were respectful and cleaned up when they were done. Everything was done according to the schedule and the timeframe they provided. What really impressed us is when we had a question about the lights we had installed on the stairs. Kevin returned our call within minutes and a service tech stopped by in a couple of hours of our call to show us how to work the lights. Now that's service! We love our deck and fence.
