I love this boba tea spot. My DH's cousin brought us here while we were visiting Houston. I was excited because I've been to the one in Costa Mesa, CA. They have the best ginger milk tea on the planet. There, I said it. If that weren't the only reason, I had so many points in my Feng Cha app, I was able to get $4 off my drinks, bringing my total down. Score! Service was great. Parking in the adjacent lot is a bit of a whack-a-mole because it was busy on a Sunday night. I couldn't believe how congested this area of Houston is. I'd come back if I were ever in the area. The drinks here are really good. My favorite drinks are Matcha Breeze, Bursting Dragonfruit (if they have it) , or the Dirty Boba if I'm feeling something heavy. It can get pretty packed late at nights along the week, but otherwise it's a really good study spot. There's lots of seating and space and there's a few outlets. Feng Cha on Bellaire has been slipping for a while and it pains my heart to give them a 1 star review today. My boyfriend typically orders their overflowing grapefruit drink or citrus lord. There were several times where we can taste bad/molded oranges or grapefruits in the drinks because they don't bother to check the fruits before making the drinks. You know the off taste of oranges or the weird acidic smell of grapefruit when they start to overripe? Imagine drinking a whole gulp of liquid of those odors. We tried to complain the next time we visit, and we were told to immediately taste the drink after picking up. Now, due to COVID restrictions up until the last few months, we typically just placed the order ahead, picked up, and left as soon as we can. We don't really try the drinks until we're already back home. And not to mention it's common courtesy to NOT serve your customers spoiled fruits, but yes it's our fault for not tasting the drinks right away. So my boyfriend switched to ordering their lemon black tea. We first tried the Fresh lemon black tea at their Sugarland location and it was amazing. The perfect combination between bitterness of the tea, sourness of the lemon with just a hint of sweetness. But don't order that drink at this location because it's a huge disappointment, not just once but several times that we ordered them (we kept on hoping that they'll improve but they didn't). The drink tasted like diluted packaged Lipton iced tea and their ratio of lemon/sugar is horrible. Aside from ingredients/recipe issues, their execution also needs improvement. When I request for less ice, I expect a cold drink with less ice, not a warm drink with melting ice inside. Who would want a warm drink in the summer? Lastly, they also got my order inaccurate on multiple occasions. When I called ahead and ordered the Osmanthus oolong tea with matcha milk foam and they confirmed that it's the Osmanthus oolong tea, I don't expect to receive a MILK tea during check out. Like, come on, even you said *tea* when you confirmed my order. On both times that this happened, I just shrugged and grabbed the drink anyways because hey, i love milk tea, but their Osmanthus oolong milk tea sucks. It lacks the tea aroma and tastes like sweetened diluted dairy powder. Maybe I just got unlucky when I grabbed them because I love their tea! The decor is lovely, the plush toys are adorable (when they're not being stolen), they have napkins and straws out (when they're not being stolen), and the big bear is legendary... even moreso than that lake in Cali. They are much less severe about kicking people out at closing time than most Boba shops, too, which we appreciate. And if you spill the sticky teas all over you (or anything else sticky, for example if Barbi is here when you come, so to speak), you'll need to Feng Shower. The Boba is good, and the drinks are utterly perfect, and comparable to their similarly wonderful location in Sugar Land. Barbi loves the fresh lemon black tea, grapefruit, melon drink, we both adore kiwi basil, dragonfruit, and the citrus lord... and the amazing black milk tea (hot or cold) and their Dirty Boba w/creme brulee a lot. The hot milk tea is great too, when it's piping hot. The Purple Reign is good, and the cakes they make here are second to none. And if you come in dressed like a Dallas Cowboys girl, fake tan and big Texas hair, you should have gone to Feng Cheer. I've actually brought people here just for the cakes, everyone agrees they're the best in town. The Sea Salt Milk Foam cake has to be tried to be believed. Forget 85... get your cakes here. If they made kebabs, they'd be Feng Char. If they could turn back time, they'd be Feng Cher, and they'd be frequented by Gypsies Tramps and Thieves and would disown their daughter. INTRO: I have been wanting to come here for so long!! Today was the day that I got a chance to come in and try some drinks (: DRINKS: I got the Dirty Boba which is their take on Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea with a twist! They top it off with crème brulee cheese foam that they actually blowtorch the top with sugar mmmm. I also tried the Jasmine Apple Green Tea. To my surprise the Dirty boba was sooo good and not too sweet! (I got light ice made with fresh milk but did not change the sweetness level) I really liked that the drink was very cold but the boba at the bottom was still warm and melted in my mouth. The creme brulee cheese foam really made a difference in the depth of flavor by making the whole drink taste like custard. The Jasmine Apple Green Tea was on a whole other level with freshness and the tartness from the apple. They even had bits of apples inside! I really liked this place because although it wasn't the biggest space, I felt very welcomed and cozy. OVERALL: I would definitely come back to get the same drinks again but also to try new drinks from their menu. One thing that stuck out to me was how the milk teas are lactose free. My biggest concern about many shops is that they may go overboard with the milk, or water down the drinks but fortunately that wasn't the case here! Also, I'd love to try more of their milk foams next time, the flavors look so interesting. My drink was on the creamier side, but the osmanthus tea was still evident, and quite fragrant - good balance! While I'm not sure how I'd describe the flavor, it has a very light, maybe floral taste? Regardless, it's been a day since I bought the drink and I can't stop thinking about! When ordering milk teas I like to start off with 50% sugar, and decide if I'd want to adjust it for next time. For the osmanthus milk tea I think 50% is good, but maybe 75% would have been a bit better (for my personal taste). I really enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere of this place. The dirty boba which seems to be a version of milk brown sugar but with some modifications. You can get it with different teas, but the also had some kind of sugar toe crystals in it. Assuming it's the sugar, but it gives it a nice sweet jolt with every other sip. I did sip on my wife's matcha latte, which was rich in matcha flavor. I would say I would want to go back to try some of the fruit drinks on a hot day to see how refreshing it can taste. Visiting our fav Boba shop in Chinatown once again! This time my husband ordered an Oreo Cheese Milk Tea since he liked mine so much last time, he's a big fan of milk foam . I ordered a Dirty Taro Boba, I personally don't mix mine because I like all the different textures. We also tried an Oreo Cheese Cake for dessert. This was perfect after eating a salty, spicy meal! I don't know. I am feeling increasingly like boba is taking over the world. Just in this one complex I think perhaps there are 5 or more boba locations. A couple doors down is Gong Cha which seems to be drawing a very big crowd these days. But is it really all that much better or different? It's clean in here - cleaner than the nextdoor Gong Cha (but then again Gong Cha has a giant, giant crowd of people so how clean could it be?). The aesthetics are adorable; there are cloud lights and a giant teddy bear at the entrance. They have the usuals and some signature drinks. I tried the jasmine dirty boba. To be clear you can't taste the jasmine. They do some fancy thing where they top the boba with sugar, place a metal protector on top and flame the sugar. They literally brulee your boba drink which is all kinds of extra. Did that extra stuff justify the $6.50 cost I had to pay for a single drink? Probably. Does it make me any less salty about it? Nope. Overall the drink was sweet - too entirely sweet. There wasn't enough ice in my opinion; all these things can be adjusted of course for next time but I'm not sure I'd come back to pay $6.50 for any kind of drink no matter how good it was. Wow. Another Cha house at Dun Huang Plaza. I thought the location was interesting to be 2 doors down from Gong Cha. Of course, they ain't related. Saw the sign to offer 3 drinks: Chocolate Haven, Ginger Milk Tea and Chrysanthemums Goji Ginger Tea. I chose the one with real long name and hard to pronounce drink. Cashier asked if I want toppings for my hot tea. "Uh... sure what do you offer?" No, it's not possible in hot tea but they had to ask. Well... I would recommend flower petals. I actually found some tasty ginger bits on the bottom of my cup. Mmm... I want more. The interior is painted with soothing pastel colors on both walls. I really didn't want to love this place b/c we spent $7 on ONE drink here, but y'all. It was good. I would come again. And unfortunately, I would pay again D: Came here on New Years Day and it was packed! However, the line moved quickly. The entire space is open, airy, and decorated in a lilac/baby blue theme. Lots of open tables to study on, but the place was so loud, I can't imagine getting any work done here during busy hours. Some go-to "photo spots" for Instagram too, including the logo on the center wall and a small bench with an enormous stuffed bear. We got the large dirty boba with tapioca. Requested only 30% sweetness because we heard it was super sweet! However, we wish we went the full 100% sweetness because it tasted a bit watered down. Regardless, it was delicious. The cheese foam was sooooo good. Tapioca was soft, warm, and FRESH! We're not big milk tea people but we shared it among both of us and kept sipping for more. Cups are super cute and are comparable to the tall, reusable cups they give you at Yumcha. I haven't found a boba place I've been loyal to since HoneyBee closed down, but maybe I've finally found my place if I'm feeling a splurge? I'm impressed by this place and see what the hype is about. Aesthetically pleasing drinks and pastries. That's what drew my interest in supporting this business. I tried the dirty boba that many other Yelpers recommended and a dragonfruit tea. Dirty boba is their version of a brown sugar milk tea with creme brulee, I think? The dragonfruit tea reminded me of the one from Starbucks but I rather spend my money supporting small businesses than Starbucks. I deducted a star because of the staff. I saw on Yelp that you can get a free foam cake with check-in. So I inquired about it and the cashier said I couldn't use it but instead, pointed to their cakes menu for me to order if I wanted one. I asked again and showed her the offer on my phone. She asked another employee who said I was able to use it and asked me to click the option. She then proceeded to tell me it was already used. How so when it was my first time there? She saw me press it as she asked but didn't help me complete the process. It took another customer who was speaking to her in Chinese to help assist me. I honestly don't think it was a language barrier but perhaps incorrect knowledge of the application offer. Either way, I was able to get to the screen to confirm if I wanted to use it and showed the cashier again. They both gave an aggravated look and grunted before completing my order. I actually thought of canceling my order and walking out but I really wanted to give this place a chance.
