The shop is also larger than it looks, with a spacious seating area in the back that's great for studying, hang outs, and I remember in the past they even had Yu-Gi-Oh meet-ups. The service is always great despite us placing orders on their kiosk. Sometimes when we have a customization on our drinks, the cashier will always confirm with us before proceeding with making our drink. We came to this Feng Cha while in Sugar Land area. The menu is pretty much the same as other locations. This location only have the self-order/kiosk option, which honestly took much longer than expected to find my go to milk foam tea. While the price of a lot of other newer chains's price start at $7per drink, Feng Cha with their solid flavors and boba, is still living in the $5.5+ price range of 2023. After lunch in the Sugarland area, we wanted something to satisfy our sweet tooth that did not include food. Boba was the clear choice so I got on the Yelp app and searched for boba close by. Feng Cha popped up and highly rated. I pulled up into a little shopping area with a variety of different stores. Parking was plentiful. I can't speak on customer service because there was absolutely no interaction with a human on my visit. As soon as you walk in, the ordering kiosk is right there, which created a weird line that was blocking the entrance/exit. I had plenty of time to look over the menu as the line took awhile even though there were only three people ahead of me. I really don't like this option as there were lots of employees back there who could've easily helped new customers who do not know the menu like myself. I went ahead and just chose off their top 5 list. I wish some of the items had descriptions because some were not self explanatory like other drinks were. I was in the mood for something more coffee forward and not so much fruity. I went with the Dirty Boba which was absolutely not coffee forward. That is my own fault as later I did see there was a dirty coffee latte option. The employee called my name, left it on the counter and bounced. Literally no human interaction. I took a few pics and took my first sip in the car. This drink is sweet even with regular sweetness level. The drink tasted like a slightly sweet milk drink. The boba was fresh and had a nice bite to it. This particular drink was just ok to me. My sweet tooth was definitely satisfied. Overall, Feng Cha was alright. As one of the fastest growing boba chains in the world (#1), Feng Cha has made its way to Houston through a number of locations. I think their best one so far has been here in Sugar Land, since they've done a good job keeping the drinks fresh and quality job of executing overall. While it's more of a takeout spot, there is room for folks to study / work at the limited tables that they do have. WiFi is pretty good and the place is super clean, which thankfully includes the bathrooms. I think service is friendly and they're good about getting drinks out in a timely manner. I've enjoyed their variety enough to be a repeat customer. No matter if it's a regular boba milk tea or their signature brown sugar milk or even their refreshing fruit teas, it's all pretty solid. I really have enjoyed the ultra fruity strawberry breeze as of late, and the oolong tea or matcha lattes have been reliable choices. While the mini cakes are not my bag, but I know plenty of folks are into it. The prices are a little higher than the average tea spot. However, they operate with such efficiency that I'm okay with the slight upcharge. At the end of the day, not all boba chains are created equal. The ones who can still churn out quality drinks with consistency will always get my business. This place was delicious! I randomly was craving boba and got the dirty boba which was actually a creme brûlée boba! They had torched the sugar on top of the foam and it was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this if you like coffee and caramel. I also had their taro chocolate cake and it was divine! Perfect to have with tea or coffee. It was very light and airy. Of all the tea places in Houston, this was my first and my favorite. There are so many fruit flavors to choose from as well as a variety of teas. One of my favorite is a rose Oolong tea. Surprisingly have never been to any branches of Feng Cha, even though I frequent Chinatown a couple times a month. We were in the Sugar Land area and I was really craving a good tea. Yelp gave me this suggestion so off we went! We actually hit this place twice in one day (6 hours apart) and ended up trying 4 drinks. I really like the cups - they are tall and sturdy, but slim, so fit easily in my hand. You can also wash and bring back to re-use for 5% off the order. I've already washed two of the cups :) TLDR: Enjoyed the fruit teas - they were refreshing and I really liked that there's actual pieces of fruit (without bogging down the drink). Bonus is that they look so pretty in the cup! The cream/milk teas were a little too rich for me. They were good, but I still end up thirsty after those. 50% sweet is a good rule of thumb if you don't prefer overly sweet. I got all 4 at 50% and am happy with it. I could have probably even gone 25% on the dirty boba and been ok. Mango Breeze 3/5: I guess the "breeze" drinks are their slushies, which was nice on a hot day. It was creamier than I prefer, but that is just personal taste, so would probably not get it again. Dirty boba 4/5: Constructed well, enjoyed watching them brulee the top, but the boba were a little harder than I usually prefer. The boyfriend liked the consistency, so again this is a personal preference thing. It's a solid drink, but a bit on the heavy side due to the richness. It's a good dessert drink, but when I'm thirsty I want something a bit more refreshing. Bursting Dragonfruit 4/5: You know there's real dragon fruit in this drink because of that deep purple-red deep color. A solid refreshing tea that I wouldn't mind ordering again. Summer Melon tea 5/5: I've been told that my eyes light up whenever watermelon juice/slushie is mentioned. It looked like this drink had watermelon in it, so I couldn't resist. First sip was delightful because I got tiny chunks of water melon in it. So refreshing!! I definitely tasted the watermelon in here. Service was good the first time - second time, it was clearly a new person because when I asked her what the mango fantasy was, she gave me the description of the mango breeze. I had to correct her and tell her that the mango breeze was the slushie since I had just gotten it earlier in the day. This was my first "day" frequenting this shop, and I already knew the menu better than she did. It's really a pet peeve of mine when the staff does not know the menu. After I corrected her and told her it was on the sign outside the door, she said oh yea, I guess that's right, and then didn't even answer my question. So I still have no idea what's in the mango fantasy. I proceeded to give my order, including level of sweetness and ice. She said ok and then asked me which drinks and how much ice. Listen much? As I was waiting for my order, I watched her mess up the order of a bunch of drinks and the manager step in to instruct her. Sugar Land's Asia town is giving me life! We've got more tea houses than Starbucks per capita, but Feng Cha is definitely a standout in the bunch. Their dirty boba (also referred to as crème brûlée boba) is bomb, and they use the proper cups with two holes -- one for the drink and boba, one to suck down the foam. The boba is so delicious, warm, and coated in brown sugary goodness. Their milk foam cakes are light, fluffy, and covered in various flavors of creamy sea salt foam. Would definitely return for these two items. I was a little bit let down by the Strawberry Overload drink, only because the name suggests an explosion of strawberry flavor. Mine had a pretty strong tea flavor and could have been a bit more weet, but I would consider trying it again with more sugar. I also love that they have a bunch of games for people of all different ages. They offered high chairs and foam blocks for my toddler to play with... great to distract him so I can have 10 minutes of one-on-one time with my boba. My sis loves their milk tea, so I decided to try Feng Cha. They don't have almond milk or coconut milk as options, so I ordered a fruit drink - the Strawberry Overload. It was just not good... It's hard to believe it's a top seller. My drink looked completely different from the picture on their website, so I wonder if they made it wrong. There was no evidence of tea, no separation between liquid and strawberry... think of orange juice full of pulp. Replace the orange with strawberry, and that was my drink. So disappointing. They're also not very good about picking up the phone. I will not be back. Update: The remade drink was slightly better than the original in that there was less of the strawberry pulp, and I could see a distinction between the strawberry and the tea. However, the strawberry is just so pulverized, it ruins an otherwise perfectly good drink. Thanks to the manager for trying to improve my experience! Happy I stopped by this place today! The two girls working were nice and offered me a sample of the unsweetened tea that goes into the fruit teas. I'm glad I tried it because I thought it was a little too bitter so I opted for a small Mango Breeze with 75/70% sugar. My boyfriend got the Strawberry Castle dessert, and we also tried the Sea Salt Pearl Milk Foam cake. I asked to redeem the 10% off Yelp offer before ordering, but I assumed it would be taken off manually by the staff and I guess the girls forgot to ask me for a code/barcode to scan. So I didn't get my 10% off, but I'll try again next time. Mango Breeze: 4.5/5 It got a little icy at the end, but well worth the $4 price tag. I thought this was delicious, not at all artificial tasting, and I kept the plastic cup! Strawberry Castle dessert: 3/5 I personally wasn't too impressed with this one. I had a yogurt-like taste to me and the strawberries on top weren't the prettiest or freshest. It was just ok. Sea Salt Pearl cake: 4/5 Delicious! I wasn't sure what to expect but the milk foam was incredible. The cake was a typical dry sponge cake with a hint of sweetness. I thought there was too much boba on top. I ate a few bites but left the rest on the plate, which was heart shaped and so cute! One small gripe- I don't like places that push people to tip on the smart tablets. I chose to because the girls were nice and patient and she delivered all our items to the table, but I noticed it was very prominently encouraged with the minimum option being 15%, then 20%+ and upwards. Most of their drinks are descent even though their boba could be sweeten. I usually ordered Creme Brulee Dirty Boba (They use Lactaid milk which is awesome and most of their fruity tea drinks. I wished they have more various drinks selection on their menu since it is limited. The drinks are more on the pricer side. Tip: Always check your drink even when they bagged it for you. Probably my new go-to spot for boba in the Sugar Land area! I got their Dirty Boba with original milk (lactaid) and 30% sugar, which comes with cheese foam on top. The 30% sugar level was definitely sweet enough for me, since the syrup on its own adds a lot of sweetness. I prefer this over other brown sugar drinks I've had elsewhere, since Feng Cha lets you customize each feature- others I've had do not allow for any sugar level or ice level customization. The only downside I noted was that I had a ton of cheese foam left at the bottom, and it was too rich for me to drink it on its own. So I left quite a bit of boba at the end of the drink that I couldn't get to. My friend got the taro milk tea, and she really liked it; she commented on how it was just the right amount of creamy and not at all powdery.
