If you want true German style pub, take the 5 min walk from train station!! Food is inexpensive and very good, atmosphere is true "local" pub with Bavarian feel. Meal plus 2 beers $26 for dinner!!

    German restaurant and bar!!

Always opt to stay away from franchises and malls for authentic German food and found this quaint place. Off the beaten track. It was full of people which is always a good sign. Although the poor lady working the afternoon shift, had to manage all tables by herself until her Barman arrived later, the food was good, the ambience, rustic, and Bavarian. Would certainly come here again.

Didn't care for the spätzle. I should've had the normal goulash. We ate a second time a few days later, and the sausage plate was very good. The frankfurters in particular were awesome! We had the light house beer (Helles), brewed on the spot. For dinner, we split the Frankfurter Platter, which offers an excellent representation of German cuisine, and comes with the delicious Frankfurt sauce. The sauce is a local delicacy and is a must with German food. The dish was loaded down with three types of sausage, eggs, roasted potatoes, sauerkraut, a pork knuckle, and about four schnitzels. I highly recommend getting this to share. It is diverse, and very filling. The atmosphere here is cozy, and their patio is a great summer hangout. Our server was very friendly and on the spot. This is a must-try if you are ever in Frankfurt and super hungry!

Opening at 5pm daily, the Biergarten entirely spoken for until 01h00 on the first Saturday of July, it was as a party of three that the heavily wooden interior was occupied while waitresses and kitchen worked diligently alongside a Bartender who must've poured 200 drinks over the course of an hour. I found it to be very cozy and inviting even though we were obviously not locals. English menus available and helpful servers. The food was outstanding, and I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures to post. I ordered the salted pork, grilled. Came with Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Was outstanding! Partner had what translates to potato sausage, also with potatoes and sauerkraut. Might sound simple but it was authentic and delicious. Oh, beer is cold and plentiful too. Enjoy!

I ordered the liver dumplings, which turned out to be liver meatballs served over sauerkraut. Odd... but they were incredibly soft and flavorful. I actually really liked them. The sauerkraut was simple but good! (Coming from someone who hates sauerkraut!) For the main course, I had the Frankfurt schnitzel (Viennese style), served with green sauce and fried potatoes. The schnitzel was very thin but was generous in portion size. The green sauce was really just cilantro. It was ok -- though I think I would've preferred a classic mushroom sauce instead.

You have to go down a side street to see that lonely little sign, but venture on where it beckons. It might be cold and blustery outside, but by the time they pack in the hundred inside, you'll be toasty. And bring Euros, lots of 'em, because this place hasn't seen a credit card...ever. And we're talking way back to founding in 2015 when Farmer Franz tried to get a meal with his lederhosen as collateral. Grab a jug of apple wine to share with your table, and then dive in to all the comfort food you came here for: schnitzel, sausage, sauerkraut. Just close your eyes and point at something on the menu--it'll be good. Be ready to share your table with friends you might not know, because we're all one big family at Ebbelwoi. I'll return at least annually, and hopefully more.
