I love that you can order at the window from the friendly staff, and that there is a modest amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Something that drew us to Ferchaladas was the eclectic menu with some of the freshest options. I immediately chose the Tamarindo Jicama ceviche and a birria taco for good measure. My ceviche came stacked with fresh shrimp, cucumber, red onion, avocado, and jicama with a generous toss of the tamarind sauce. The tajin on the home made tostada was a nice touch. This dish was perfection. My birria taco was phenomenal and also made to perfection. My daughter liked her Hija De Su** Madre Tostada but preferred my son in law's meal. He has a habit of always choosing the best things on any given menu! We all loved his El Prieto ceviche which came tossed in a black sauce with cucumber, red onion, tomato, and avocado. You get plenty of sauces, options, and a neighborhood feel here that serves up fresh seafood. I came here on a Saturday right before closing, and the place was pretty empty. There was just one family finishing up as I arrived. Parking is street parking only, but I got lucky and found a spot on a nearby side street. They're cash only, but they also accept Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App. It was surprisingly chilly inside. It was about 57° outside, so I'm not sure why the AC was blasting. Cell service is pretty bad inside, so if you're eating solo, don't expect to doom scroll or send texts. My food came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered: Shrimp taco: Absolutely delicious. The shrimp had great flavor and were piled on generously. Birria taco: Crispy, fresh, and loaded with meat. They bring out four different sauces, though none are labeled. Still, they really elevate the tacos. One downside is that they don't offer free water. You have to buy a bottled water for $2, which feels a bit steep. Overall, the staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. $4 for the birria taco and $7 for the shrimp taco. First, it took approximately 40 minutes for our order to be prepared. During that time, several customers who arrived after us were served before we were. When I asked the cashier about the status of our food, I was told that our order would be packed to go because the restaurant was about to close. This was frustrating, as we had placed our order for dine-in service and had already been waiting for over an hour. Additionally, the male cashier was quite rude. When I asked if we could eat at one of the outdoor tables, he told us no, despite the fact that other customers were already seated and eating there. There's indoor seatings and outdoor picnic tables. Quite spacious for a big party. The owner is amazing, welcoming and extremely accommodating! The tilapia taco was by far my favorite, the sauces and cheese baked into the tortilla was super flavorful. Wish I got the Birria one with cheese too as that might have been my favorite part! Definitely make sure you get the sauces that come in the squeeze bottles as well. All the portions were huge so very worth the prices! I was really really hoping to love this place but unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I'll start with the parking... it's pretty horrible, it was tough to find a spot that was close to the establishment... they do not have their own parking lot, you have to find street parking. Upon entering, we weren't greeted, employees just kinda walked around us while we were looking at the menu, and since the space is very small, I felt like I was in their way while trying to figure out what to order. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp cocktail, I ordered the vegetarian mango option and we also got some birria tacos. They also do not serve alcohol which was confusing because from looking at the pictures on Yelp, I thought they served micheladas but they do not. My boyfriend did not like the shrimp cocktail, he said it tasted too much like clamato and it literally looked like soup. For me, my vegetarian mango "ceviche" tostada was OK. The flavors didn't really mesh well... and there was A LOT of tomato to mango ratio. Really what saved the experience for me was the birria tacos, those were pretty delicious. The reason I am rating so low is because towards the end of our visit, I got super lightheaded and by the time I walked back to my car I had to sit on the sidewalk and I immediately threw up everything I had just ate. I felt like death... and that is the first time that had ever happened to me after eating out somewhere. We only got to try their tacos this time but can't wait to go back and try their ceviche. Ordered a large El Verde ceviche "cocido" which is boiled shrimp, to go. The food was cold which I appreciate in a ceviche, for take out the presentation was good. The ratio of shrimp to veggie was off, was disappointed on how much shrimp I got for $30. I will say their sauce was delicious though. Unfortunately about 30 min after finishing my meal I began to experience stomach cramps and my bowel movements kicked in immediately!! I experienced a headache as well.
