Starting with zero knowledge (or time really) I started moving fast. All I knew I cared about was getting a light color and took the advice of my family to invest in granite material. I found a couple spots that couldn't get to our house for a week to give a quote then an additional 3+ weeks from installation. As many of my Yelpy friends know, I work full time and have a toddler so the thought of letting minimal kitchen usage and construction sit for a month stressed me the heck out. Then, tada! A friend told us about CSI. Within 48 hours I was able to go look at the granite with one of the owners in person, got a quote, someone came to measure, and it was installed less than 2 weeks after! Oh, it gets better... they came in at $700 less than others we were looking into. The staff was so kind and beyond easy to work with. We're painting the whole interior, and I want to do it all at once. I've painted in the past, but I've always used Behr's Marquee and Premium Plus Ultra, but after reading a LOT of information online I decided I should give Sherwin Williams a try. So, I took the time to read up on what I could and packed the wife and baby in the car so we could go talk to one of the 'professionals' that are mentioned in most reviews. The people always say how it's such a value to have a professional who only deals with paint whom you can speak with at a SW, so I thought that would be nice! I'd love to talk to a pro! To say that I ended up talking to the least qualified person would be an understatement. This young man came up and was about as helpful as a touchscreen kiosk would have been, except that he didn't actually know anything about the paint. I asked him what the difference was between 'Emerald' and 'Duration' product lines and his response was, verbatim, "Emerald is our best and Duration is not too bad".... "Not too bad"? What kind of employees says that about their own product line?? By my count SW has about 9 or so product lines. So if Emerald is the 'best' and Duration is 'not too bad' then what does that make the other 7 or so products? Total trash? Garbage paint? When I pressed him for the differences he basically just repeated the same line about Emerald being the 'best'. The best at what? Color? Coverage? Durability? Uniformity? Needless to say, this was not the experience I expected. SW had the chance to explain to me the benefits of their paint, teach me something I didn't know, guide me in the right direction and make me a customer for life. They dropped the ball. Completely. I'm baffled that a company would place such uninformed and unhelpful people at the front lines like this. I left the building with the thought that I, a steel salesman, know more about paint than these "pros". What a shame.
