They communicated well before the move, arrived on time, packed our furniture with protective blankets, unloaded & placed our furniture & boxes as we directed. They were respectful of our belongings & very nice & easy to work with. They were also fast which saves money since you're paying a hourly rate. I can't think of anything I would have changed. I had the unpleasant experience of one of their drivers and assistant completely blocking my driveway and then yelling profanity at me and my wife in front of our children while a neighbor was moving in. I asked their driver nicely to back his truck up since we have 2 cars parked at our residence and I needed to go to work in a bit. He moved it and sat there glaring at me. I walked back inside and 5 minutes later my wife was going out with the kids to the Y and I saw on my camera he drove it forward blocking her from backing up. I came back out and the assistant mover stated "When are you leaving!?" Well for starters, that is not their problem to know what our schedules are. He then started using profanity, disregarding the fact that my children were right there. I started recording the incident on my phone and the driver told him to move the truck back forward to block my driveway. I had to call the company to get this resolved by letting them know I was going to call the HOA tow company. This is a horrible way for a neighbor to be introduced into the community as he has nothing to do with their unprofessional demeanor and disregard for using profanity in front of kids as well as disregard for neighbors property to wherever they will move your belongings. I will never use this company and warn others also not to. There are other moving companies with employees that have far more integrity than them and do not act in a reckless manner like this. read more

My neighbor used them to move her. When they left they deliberately drove their truck across my front yard several times crushing my curbing in several places, tore up huge chunks from my lawn and even drove across my clearly marked sprinkler heads then left without a word. I called their office and Phil the manager promised to come the next day and assess the damage. Never heard from him again. When a company is destructive, careless, sneaky and lies when they are caught I will NEVER use them. read more

The guys worked hard and efficiently but they lost some screws to the our bed and our son's toddler bed. They then told us they didn't put together cribs after unloading everything. That's when I discovered the missing screws. Found out on our king bed one night when the bed just collapsed. My recommendation is to make sure you disassemble and reassemble any furniture to ensure the screws are not lost. read more

Worst moving experience!! Furniture broken, items lost. There was no care taken at all with our property. The workers goal was to get done as fast as possible not to be careful with our property. I'd say 50 % of our furniture was broken in some way from totally destroyed,legs broken off, scratched and dented. I asked them to pack our art and lamps. Instead of packing carefully everything was tossed in boxes with no padding. Lamp shades trashed! Frames and glass broken. We have used Ballantyne and Beyond 3 times now. First 2 times we were very satisfied, this time not so much. Lots of broken and damaged stuff. And I get it, it was a move from Fort Mill to Greenville, so it wasn't local. But all my furniture was scratched up or damaged. Really wish I'd opted for the insurance. Didn't get it the first 2 times and had great results. NO-ONE HAS CONTACTED ME. Pictures were taken and claim was submitted. Even the stuff in boxes packed by them is broken. Then only 3 guys to unload 2 full trucks? One of which was so hungover I think he actually went on the side of our house to puke. Spent 25% of his time laying in my grass out front. At first, I thought I has found one of the best moving companies. They came in and looked at everything, got back to us the next day with a reasonable quote, and before packing up we had another walk through to see what all was going and to check items for previous damage. Then, it came time to pack up. The guys that came in to pack we're nice, but their packing was horrible. They left the first day around 1:30 with so much left to pack that I was worries how they were going to get it all done. The next day they said they will get it all done. The time went by and one room had not even been touched. One of the guys came in and asked if they were responsible to get everything in there and I said yes. He was upset about that so I told him not to worry about it I'll get it. They finished packing everything up and told us they were going to head out. My husband asked him if they got everything in the garage and he said yes sir. We met them at our destination in Asheville and unloading went fairly well. However, when it came time to unpack, the hurrying they did on Saturday to finish packing us, they just through everything in boxes not caring how they packed! As we continued to unpack, we noticed things missing and thought we would find them in another box, but we didn't. The following week came and I had to head back to Charlotte for work and final cleaning of our apartment. When I got there ALL of our pictures were still there, all of the stuff was left in the garage that my husband asked about,I started opening drawers and my pot lids were all left, cake and pie pans all left, grilling stuff all left and much more. It was awful how much stuff was left!! I had to make one trip back to Asheville with my truck to the ceiling with stuff and then come back the next day!! What is even more horrible, we fed these guys breakfast and lunch, had a fridge stocked with drinks of all sorts and tipped them at the end (which they probably didn't want the food and drinks just more money) emailed the COO and nothing! Well, he said he'd was sorry, he'd look into it and get back to me ASAP. Two weeks later and we still have not heard from him. We should have listen to our friends who were about to use them, but changed their minds because of a few things they heard. Learned our lesson!! read more

UNBELIEVABLE! So much wrong. I chose them because of the reviews. More good than bad. I had a gut feeling to not work with them. Lesson learned after my horrible experience. First of all they quoted me $705 and said it could be cheaper. I ended up paying $1073. I moved out of 2bedroom with office and moved into a 2 bedroom apartment. I was told they would be there Sunday at 8 am till 11 am. They showed up at 8:37. They parked on the wrong side. They did move after I told them there was a faster way. They broke a mirror, chipped a few pieces of expensive frame. Didn't wrapped my art separately. Scratched up brand new furniture legs on my couch. Took things apart and left the pieces at my old place. I had to go back and get them. After reminding them. Didn't put book shelf back together or my bed back together correctly. It fell when I got in it. They wasn't prepared. I had to go find tools to take my dining room table apart. One of the guys said that they charge by the weight. I wasn't told that. The other guy said don't worry about that. I did mention it to the one of the owners whom said that wasn't true. There is no weight charge. I believe they planned to get over on me cause I was a female. I called my fiancé who came right away. He has a serious back injury. He and I still had a lot to move. Didn't finish until 11 that night. Neighbors and friends were concerned. They wondered why did I pay so much to move across the parking lot and still have so much to do. I over heard one guy saying to leave that shit over there. The others said no that they would lose their jobs. They took so many cigarette breaks. Left their trash in the ground. Balls of used tap, plastic rolls and empty water bottles. I provided bottled water for them. Mud is on my carpet now. After packing truck they said that they had to leave and they would come back later and help finish. I called the office immediately and left voice message and went back to packing my car. Also after walking through my new place, he said that it would take them only and hour and half to unload the truck. That wasn't true. Two of them wasn't happy about me calling tellimg the manager. I heard them complaining and that made me feel bad. I knew they didn't want to be there and I felt as if I couldn't trust them. My fiancé packed his truck up and I packed my car up. We were taking things in as well. He also help them put carry things and put things together. He and I both had to take off the next due to the pain we were in. One of the guys stepped up. Rogdrick (I think that was his name) was great! He apologized. Other two stayed in truck watching us struggle. One of the two eventually joined. (Prayer works) I told Rogdrick that I couldn't believe I paid them so much and still have so much to do. I also wasn't happy about them breaking my things and the time. I spoke with the manager whom didn't care at all. I finally talked to one of the owners. He talked over me and never asked to replace or fix my things. He was very rude and unprofessional. I had only 3 weeks to not only find a new residence 450 miles away, but to secure a moving company and pack up my house and move to my new location. Steve was very helpful to recommend the services appropriate for my needs that his company provides and provided the services without any hiccups or issues. The staff who affected my move were very professional as they loaded up my belongings and unloading at my new place. This is the first time using this company. We have used a couple other movers when making local moves in the past & things went smoothly without incident. Well this move had to be the most stressful move we have ever had. It was such a cluster of disastrous events, one thing after another it was insane. We used a moving company 18 years ago & they moved us over 500 miles to Charlotte, not one thing was broken or lost. When reserving Ballantyne & Beyond they were given a detailed description of items per room but that did not seem to matter. The day of the move we were sent one decent sized man & another man that was a fraction of the size not to mention they showed up approximately 1 -1/2 hours early. Our home we sold was 5 years old & we were moving to a new construction. There were several deep scrapes and holes these guys left in our walls & in the hardwood, chunks out of our banister, door jams & floors. My husband was left to make necessary repairs. They decided to call it a day & knocked off early, THE JOB WAS NOT DONE! My husband spent the entire next two days loading another truck we had to rent by himself. INSANE. The loading of my furniture was dreadful, if we can take moving mats and move over 500 miles 18 years prior we didn't have one thing broken or scratched, we used the same moving mats, packed and protected our furniture in the same manner and this time had several items damaged. When I called the owner regarding the damage I was told, since you didn't let us pack you & your items were not in our care,custody and control you are not entitled to the insurance. You can get .60 Per pound! Now the unloading went much better, more guys were put on the job but we were overcharged by over $1000. Fortunately the owner was honest and did call, explained the overcharging and refunded the difference. Fact still remains I still have damaged and broken furniture and there at least 2 boxes we still cannot find. Word of caution, call around and interview your movers! You pay a lot of money for your personal items and no one deserves someone coming and disrespecting them. UPDATE TO BALLANTYNE & BEYOND MOVING RESPONSE 6/18/18: Yes we had to rent two U-Haul trucks because you did not have ample trucks available, I believe you stated one of your trucks was down, nevertheless you did assist us with our last minute move due to the buyers of our home making an offer & their need for such a quick move in date. For that we are grateful for you trying to help us with our move however given the detailed description you were provided and I heard my husband provide you with explicit details down to the split king tempur pedic adjustable bed for which we had great concerns about its safety due to the cost of the bed and we expressed that concern. Knowing these details we all know it would have taken more than TWO hours. I realize that is all of the time you had available, we completely understand that but let's be realistic it is completely unrealistic to expect the two you sent to load a 3 bedroom, family room, dining room, a 2 car garage and we explained at lease 30 boxes. There was never a change in schedule, the move out date never changed, the only thing that changed is that your guys were loading into trucks instead of a pod. When your guys and your one truck came May 22, 2018 Everyone knew you could not hold our items in your truck until our closing/move date 5/25/18 anyway so you sending your truck was moot. Your truck was promised out for another move. Bottom line, we appreciated you assisting us with our move but had you had the ability to send a sufficient number of men I believe things would have been a whole lot better and our items would not have been damaged. Best move ever with the best crew! I read some of poor reviews of this company and honestly don't get it... We had such a different experience with a very friendly and experienced team. They arrived early, made quick work of wrapping our furniture to protect it and loading it in the truck. Offloading was by far the more complicated part of our move but that was also great. We were prepared and, I think, provided an accurate assessment of what we needed to move so there was no misunderstanding on how big or how much time would be required. And this was a very tricky move - from a modern highrise apartment in uptown Charlotte with a freight elevator / loading dock to an older building with a tiny elevator... These guys made it look easy! My tip? Comple the move list precisely. Don't underestimate the size or the number of items you need to move. This worthless company moved us & ripped us off. They broke multiple things including 2 42" tv's. The move cost us almost $2000 . After calling them numerous times, the owner (jerk) Greg Causey told my husband & I he would reimburse us $7 for each tv. I was appalled. Be careful when signing the waiver for liability & damage. This was my first time hiring movers. The movers were polite and respectful but smelled of weed when they walked in. When we got to our destination, one of the movers stated they left a piece od furniture needed to put my dresser and mirror together. He said he will leave the screws with me so I can do it myself. He only left 3 screws...I need 6. I was not happy about this but I just let it go. They rushed out of my apartment and asked for a tip several times. I went into my bedroom to find a large hump in my mattress. The springs on my mattress shifted as if the movers put something hard on/against it or they folded it. I called the company and spoke with the owner, Greg Causey, who informed me of the claims process. The company offered me $84 for a king sized mattress... $84!!! I would caution anyone who uses this company. I paid $712 for their services for them to offer me $84. I will never use them again. read more

So I have been emailing and calling Greg Causey to see if they would follow through and fix my husbands business desk (which was damaged in our move this spring) but he still is not responding. We even bought insurance but I guess that doesn't matter - we haven't heard back from them since July - when Greg told me their furniture repair fella was on vacation. We are very disappointed to say the least. Also they lost a wheel to one of our storage units and haven't replaced that either. My kids are moving into a new home and of course we are not going to call Ballantyne and Beyond to do the move for us. I just wished they would stand by their promise!!! read more

I wanted everyone to know the horrid experience we experienced, using this company. We moved while living in Charlotte, locally, once and they were great. When getting quotes to move to Colorado, we asked them if they would move cross country, since we had such a great experience in town. They gave us a quote for one truck and told us they happened to be moving another couple to Colorado at the same time and would combine our things on the truck. We were staying in an apt temporarily for 3 months until we closed on our house. So less than 1/4 of our things were being moved into the apt...prelabled by us ....and the remainder was going to storage. When asked about payment prior to moving, they stated we could pay with a personal check, that was fine. When they arrived at storage, they told us they needed a cashiers check. They would not unload our things until they had one. This was at 6 pm on a Saturday evening. We had to pay for the time they stayed in town until Monday morning when we could get a check to do so. Then, they unloaded the last of our stuff at the apartment after unloading the majority in storage. The guy left to go to his truck to get the paperwork for us to sign...never came back.....and screeched off down the road! We immediately called the owner of Ballantyne and Beyond as I had already started to open some wardrobe boxes. The boxes did not have our hanging clothes in them. The bar had been removed and they were filled to the brim....with what we later realized were the contents of several other smaller boxes DUMPED out into the wardrobe box. It seems that they quoted us one truck which ended up not being enough. So they took every one of our smaller boxes and dropped all our hanging clothes into the bottom of every wardrobe and dumped the contents of as many boxes as possible in to the boxes until they were filled. They did this with at least half of our boxes- we have a family of FIVE. They stole all of my husbands power tools. We found garage items with legos dumped in. Shoes, with kitchen utensils dumped on top. American girls buried under all of our wedding keepsakes. All of my children's special boxes I had with all of their firsts, baptism certificates, locks of hair. coming home outfits, first pacifier, etc, cards from family.....have never been found. The boxes are there. The contents were empty. NOTHING was as labeled. Our brand new front load washer had a HUGE dent in the front, our new fridge had a horizontal scrape across the front. Almost every box had broken items in it. The owner, Everett, denied everything. They are thieves and dishonest people in general. Interesting to hear the experience Anna, below, posted. I was extremely satisfied with my interaction with this company. They gave me an accurate estimate with no surprises at the end. They showed up on time with the expected number of men who were respectful and friendly. No damages occurred during my move. The only negative was that they had no empty boxes on the truck. All of my furniture made it ok and I got what I paid for to make that clear. The lead guy was very good and full time I'm sure. The two helpers of the day had dirty shoes and ripped pants and brand new shiny shirts which was telling. One ate a french fry from my kids plate when they were done and flat out asked me for a tip, which was ok but creeped me out a bit. I'm pretty new to the charlotte area but it seems grown up enough that we can probably do better. Maybe go with Gentle Giant or Hildrup next time. read more

Dustin is the rudest guy ever! I called them out of desperation because my other moving company cancelled a day before they were supposed to move us because it was supposed to rain. Anyways, he quoted me the time of 1:30-3:30 pm and he was $150 more. At 3:30, he called and said that his movers would be there at 4 pm. At 4:08, I called him and he said that they are still 15 minutes out, which they ended up arriving at 4:38 pm. Dustin said to me maybe they stopped for lunch. First of all, you know your schedule in advance, this was not a surprise that you had to move today, so if you knew it was going to be a busy day, pack your lunch!!! What happened to customer service in this day and age? Dustin was literally yelling at me as if it was my fault that his workers were late. He had no sincerity, nor was he apologetic for anything. He just kept saying that he should have not taken my job, maybe it's the other way around Dustin...feelings mutual. Why would a paying customer expect someone to be nice or treat them with respect,especially when your in the wrong (sarcasm)! I understand things come up but after reading these reviews, it happens quite often with BB. My advice, pick someone else, unless you want to Dustin to yell at you, refuse to do the job, blame you for calling him and bothering him. Dustin you should quit your job, cause obviously, you're not happy there. read more

Wow...I'm still in disbelief after my conversation today about damages to my furniture after being moving into a storage facility in April 2016. Let me start off by saying that I didn't use professional movers when I relocated from Virginia to Charlotte, NC and my furniture paid the price. This time I decided to hire professional movers. So, the entire contents of my house was moved last year into a storage facility by Ballantyne & Beyond Moving, the move went smoothly or so I thought....Fast forward to April 30th, 2017 as I'm moving out of my 10x20 storage unit that was filled front to back, top to bottom and I could barely open the door. As I'm moving my things out for transport to my new home I'm finding damage after damage....broken antiques, ripped fabric on a chair, scratches on filing cabinets and furniture, handle broken of a chest of drawers, dents on my washer and dryer and the list goes on. I contacted them about the damages and was told their liability ended once they placed it in storage as they have no idea what might have happened while in the storage unit and someone else may have handled it and done the damage.....Really, the unit was filled from front to back and top to bottom.....I couldn't have moved anything if I tried. Not to mention I took pictures of the damages as I found them "in the storage unit". The person I spoke with did tell me that if I had stored with them or they had done this move as well they would have responsibility. It's their policy. I could have an owner call me to explain it to me if I want....really, what's the point. Clearly they do not accept responsibility for a poor move! And now I have to try to find someone to repair / replace the damages. I will never use them again and will be certain to tell everyone I know as well. read more
