Paper baggy of crispy churro goodness
    Richie D.

In celebration of Latinx Heritage Month, my sweet tooth couldn't help itself but to share quite the hidden treasure in Santa Barbara: Fernando's Churros. Off a Westside side street... behind Rosale's Mexican Restaurant and Auto Zone... in a vacant parking lot... sits the bright orange Fernando's Churros truck. Bring those bills, henny!! Once you get a whiff of the fresh churro dough blended with cinnamon and sugar, you'll be crunching it like it's hot! Fernando is super sweet and easy going. Once I didn't have cash and his card reader wasn't working--he said to just come back another day to pay him. Doesn't get more trustworthy and local than that! Their truck slogan reads: "PRUEBA--DISFRUTA--REPITE! (Try...Enjoy...Repeat!)". Just like that, you'll be an addict and regular like myself! Oh, heck, he knew I'd be back for my fix. Fernando also does catering for large events (quinceañeras, weddings, etc) with the toppings (chocolate and caramel sauce), plus offers local delivery! Note: Keep in mind that they're there only in Santa Barbara Mondays and Thursdays but travel to Lompoc, Vandenberg and Lompoc the remaining days of the week. Since I'm such a Churro fan, check out where else in Santa Barbara County to get your churro on--though none can triumph Fernando's! https://www.yelp.com/collection/Y3ZRTDE_Iu9CUfDN3Dq4FA?utm_content=Collections&utm_source=ishare

We had Fernando's Churros at our pre-wedding event and they were absolutely incredible! The set-up was a live station and our guests absolutely LOVED the churros. These were the first to go that night (despite being dessert!) and even after working with Fernando's team to have more churros made my husband and I still didn't get a chance to eat them before they were gone! That goes to show how good they were. The team was great at communicating before and during our event and they were very professional. We would highly recommend Fernando's Churros.

Churros are so good you need to get two bags. Unfortunately I'm on a diet, but Fernando knows how to make a cheat day worth it. They are freshly made to order, crisp, yet internally fluffy, coated with a sugar mix. If you see this man, get some!

These churros are LIFE!!! Homemade are the best!

Thanks to my co-worker who arranged delivery to our job I was finally able to try Fernando's churros! I've been dying to try these for the longest time and my wish finally came true. I placed an order for two bags at $5 each thinking they would be in a small brown bag as I've had before; well that wasn't the case with these. They were in a much larger bag and to my surprise the portion was a lot more than I expected! Had I known the portion served was generous I would of only ordered one bag. No complaints at all because these churros were delicious! But if you're the only one that's going to be eating them then one order will be more than enough. The churros were still warm when they arrived and my first bite was heavenly. They were savory, crunchy but still soft inside, it wasn't overly sweet and the sugar coating was just the right amount. By no means are these churros comparable to any that are sold at a fast food restaurant! These are the real deal and once you try these you will forget about those fake churros elsewhere. I recommend you eat these the same day and share with friends because they do not hold up well the day after. I had plenty left over the next day and they were too mushy to eat so I had to toss them out unfortunately. These churros are quite a treat so if you're looking to try something sweet and savory then I highly recommend you check out Fernando's at Rosales Mexican restaurant or give him a call to see where the next location will be as they do pop ups around town!

    Yum!

Best churros I've ever had in my life, hands down. Came across this truck about 7 years ago on the Eastside. What a simple, effective concept - who doesn't love a good churro?! The churro is made-to-order and is cooked on the spot. It's a total treat when served to you warm. The soft, crispy dough paired with the cinnamon sugar dusting is a match made in heaven. I enjoy every bite, though can't finish it in one sitting because the bag is so large. At $6, I'd say it's an excellent deal. I know they also serve dipping sauces but haven't tried any yet. You can find the truck parked behind the Rosales Restaurant parking lot on the Eastside. It's not easy to see from the street, but they seem to be open most afternoons. If you are in this area, you must stop and get a churro for yourself. You will thank me later.

Fernando's Churros served their amazing churros at our wedding in Carpinteria, CA. The family run business was amazing to work with and guests continue to comment on their delicious churros. Thank you so much for working with us and for being such a fun addition to the end of our wedding. I highly recommend working with Fernando's Churros for your next event.

We had Fernando's Churros for our wedding (250 guests) and the churros were to die for! Our wedding was a little over a month ago and we still have people talking about how delicious the churros were! The churros were authentic with cajeta (Mexican caramel)! Maria was responsive and provided clear information. I would definitely hire them for another event!

    Churros!!

The coleslaw doesn't make the sandwich too soggy as the bread is thick enough to soak up any extra sauciness. Pastrami Dip: The au jus is rich and flavorful, infused with the essence of pastrami. I would say this is good to share as well if you run into parts of your sandwich that are bit harder. Corned Beef: A little bit tough for my personal taste but also a good pick if you prefer to have a meal that isn't as rich. Pastrami & Cheese: If plain pastrami on rye isn't enough for you, the cheese does make a huge difference. The pastrami is tender and juicy and the cheese just amplifies the overall flavor, adding to the overall mouthfeel. This one is the winner in my book! Service is fast and efficient. No frills. However, it's a good idea to know what you want beforehand because I completely missed that there was the option to buy a half instead of a full sandwich and if you don't specify you get a full sandwich. We had a lot of leftovers. The interior is cozy - I wouldn't bring a party of ten expecting to all be able to sit together. It's got more of an old-school vibe with it's layout and decor. There's a photo of Guy Fieri as Norton's was featured on Triple D. It's hard enough to get a good pastrami sandwich so Norton's is not one to miss!

The sandwiches are more than filling and made with top quality ingredients. On my latest visit, I ordered the Smytty Burger. It was only $8.95 for their daily special. I asked for the chorizo aioli on the side, because I like to control spreads on my burger. Unfortunately, they still added the chorizo aioli on my burger and I was too hungry to let them know. I managed to scrape it off with a knife. The burger was good, but the buns were cold. It would have been nice if they had toasted them. Aside from the mishap, the burger did its thing and my tummy was satisfied. Overall, the sandwiches are what you come for! They're always delicious and prepared perfectly. Even though there weren't many Yelp reviews, something about it caught my eye, so the next morning I decided to stop in on my way to work for my absolute favorite--bagel and lox. This little gem is tucked right in the heart of Montecito, in a charming shopping center with cute patio tables out front. Inside, it's a small, cozy space with a counter where you place your order. I ordered my bagel and lox and was told it would just be a few minutes. While I waited, I wandered into the tiny market next door--and oh my gosh, it was adorable. Shelves filled with amazing imported olive oils, jams, cheeses... all the things you want to take home even when you don't need them. By the time I stepped back outside, the gentleman who took my order brought my food out to me, ready to go. And let me tell you... this bagel was everything. It came open-faced with cream cheese, fresh tomato slices, onions, capers, and a pickle spear. But the real star? The lox. So fresh, so flavorful, and actually generous in portion size. So many places skimp, but not here--this was worth every bite and then some. It was filling and absolutely delicious. Service was fast, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. The gentleman working the counter was knowledgeable, helpful, and clearly takes pride in what they serve. Pricing was right on par with other local spots, but the quality and portions definitely put this place a step above. I'll absolutely be back. There are several things on the menu I can't wait to try--especially the matzoh ball soup, which looked phenomenal.
