Perfect Valentine's Day Breakfast Stop Every time I'm driving into Los Angeles, I stop on State Street to charge my car -- and today (February 14th ) we decided to grab breakfast while we waited. Best decision ever. We stumbled upon this adorable donut shop, and they had the cutest Valentine's-themed donuts decorated for the day. My daughter immediately chose the chocolate one. I honestly didn't think she'd love it... but she ate the entire thing without hesitation. That says everything. Of course, I grabbed some donut holes for the road -- because that's just tradition at this point -- but the real star? The bagel sandwich. I ordered a jalapeño cheddar bagel with egg, crispy bacon, tomato, red onion, and (because why not?) extra cheddar. It was DIVINE. Hands down the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. Perfectly toasted, flavorful, just the right kick from the jalapeño cheddar -- I'm still thinking about it hours later. I may have to stop again on the way home because I genuinely can't get that taste out of my mind. If you're passing through State Street, do yourself a favor and try this place. Food was delicious, and I arrived near closing! The donuts were still fluffy and fresh, and the breakfast bagel sandwich (eggs, bacon, cheese) was great. I was craving for a Salmon & Lox bagel and was on the hunt to find a place before heading back to Orange County on a Sunday morning. My fiance and I originally stopped by 'Spudnuts & Donuts' at first but they did not have the Salmon & Lox so we decided to leave the place and go to this location. Let's just say, we both did not regret this decision. For those of you who don't know already, there are multiple 'Spudnuts' location in SB but only one 'Spudnuts & Bagel' that's been around for more than 20 years. This place definitely gives you that mom and pop kinda feel because it is own by a small family. They're all really friendly and make some of the best bagels/donuts :) My fiance and I decided to get the Salmon & Lox (of course), Bacon Cheese Egg Bagel, Maple Bar, Blueberry Donut, and a Glazed Cronut. Everything tasted so good! My Salmon & Lox was filled with so much salmon and my asiago bagel I chose fit so well with it because it was toasted very well. The Cronut was light,tasty, and had just the right amount of texture to it. Same goes for the blueberry donut. Past blueberry donuts I've had were on the cold and hard side but this was fresh and softer :) My fiance really enjoyed his bacon cheese egg on an everything bagel and his maple donut. He's had A LOT of maple donuts and he said the maple on this is a lot softer and he loved it. All in all, we were pretty full from this breakfast but our tummys were completely satisfied. Stopped by for a quick bite on our way to solvang. I ordered the jalapeño and cheese bagel sandwich. The egg was fluffy and soft, avocado was ripe, cheese melted perfectly, bagel toasted nice and wasn't too much bread and the cream cheese was tasty. Definitely recommend this place! There is something about the spudnuts donuts that I love. They don't overwhelm you with the sweetness like some others I've had. Great selection. Lots of different types of coffee waiting for you pour out. Friendly, fast service from the family that runs it. The real deal donut shop! Smitten immediately by all the hot coffee pots greeting you upon arrival , the kind you see at diners, and all the glazed donut rings in a row. That did it for me. Love it. Joy's family and staff who work here are always nice. Their donuts are always great along with bagel and croissant sandwiches. They always have many different coffees to choose from. There is a lot of foot traffic through this donut store. There is seating indoors and a few small tables outdoors. Today we beat the crowd there so there was virtually no wait time. We stayed in Santa Barbara for a few days and went to Spudnuts 2 days in a row once we discover this wonderful family owned business. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with smile and received a warm welcome. They offered the kids donut holes as we were ordering our food. We ordered donuts (chocolate, glazed, sugar, custard, strawberry custard, blueberry and more). They were all fresh, not too sweet and not too fried. We also ordered egg, bacon and cheese croissants which were fresh and tasty. In addition, we ordered chocolate, butter and blueberry croissants; they were, fresh flaky and loved by everybody; as I said, the next day we went back for more. One of the kids in the group who is a super picky eater absolutely loved the lox bagel sandwich. The owners are patient; although they are busy, you don't feel rushed ordering. I changed my order couple of times and never got any attitude from them. The ambience is warm and welcoming. Many customers were regulars there and the owners knew their usual order. I highly recommend this business and hope to see more kind and welcoming places such as this one. We will make sure to go back in our future visits. Highly recommend them! read more

My supervisor loves to pick up a box or two from Spudnuts on the way to the office. They have a large variety of doughnuts to choose from and everything is reasonably priced. It's the perfect break room snack. There's multiple Spudnuts around SB. I usually went to the Isla Vista location when I was a student, and the Goleta store on Hollister. This one is located in a small plaza along State Street, right next to Sun Sushi. Try to come early for the best selection. They have everything from doughnut holes, to old-fashioned, to jelly-filled, to cake doughnuts. The menu even extends to croissants, fritters, and cinnamon rolls. The use of potato flour supposedly gives it a more fluffy consistency. I personally can't taste the difference between theirs and your average raised doughnut, but I would agree it was on the softer side. One doughnut I tried recently was the chocolate-filled maple glazed bar with chocolate chips on top. They were very generous with the filling, the first bite was almost like chewing on Gushers. Very decadent and indulging. This location is also really good for a quick breakfast. The second half of the menu is bagels, with several toppings and spreads available. I'm a little hesitant on trying their boba, but they have slushies, smoothies, and juices as well. read more

I Was leaving Santa Barbara and heading back to Oregon when we stopped to get a Togo breakfast. This place was absolutely amazing everything looked so delicious I ended up getting the milk tea, donut holes, and a toasted bagel. I've got to say a lot of people on here say the bagels aren't "real bagels" in their reviews and it is different than any bagel I've ever had but in a good way! The bagel was crispy on the outside and softer inside. It was so fresh and wonderful I wish I would've come here everyday on my trip. The service was also amazing the lady working the counter was so nice, my mom is gf and df and asked the lady if she could make her a smoothie without the milk and combining piña colada and mango, she said she'd never mixed them but would be happy too and took extra care for my moms allergies. We went here on the last day of our short weekend visit. I'm SOO glad I found this place. Can't say enough good things. The service was phenomenal, the lady who took and worked on our order was maybe the owner? I heard other customers call her Joy? The name is very fitting because the was such a nice and sweet person. I saw her accommodating people's special requests and did it with a smile. The food smelled so good that when I got in the car I forgot to take a photo and just scarfed it down. I forgot to take a photo!! Lol. Hazelnut coffee blend was SOO GOOD!! I also ordered a ham, egg and cheese on a garlic bagel sandwich that was literally the BEST bagel sandwich I have ever had. The bagel was toasted perfectly, not too hard, not too soft. The bagel was fresh and fragrant. She cooked the egg perfectly and put the sandwich together perfectly as well. All the flavors were so good. I got two donuts: maple round donut and blueberry cake donut. Both were light, fluffy and fresh. We also got 2 coffees and she was kind Enough to brew a batch of hazelnut blend because I asked if they had any. There was an older lady who was working really hard and was sweet and adorable. The other worker was a guy... he was polite and respectful to everyone. The place was very clean and I appreciate their covid safety precautions. You could tell they really care about their business and customers alike. I wish there was a shop like this where we live :( Go and support them! You won't regret it.
