I would only recommend going to this place during the week because it is packed on the weekends. I like their 'paletas' in the flavors maracuyá and Jamaica. I love these sweet treat joints like this. This one is somewhere tucked away on lower Milpas. They have so many Popsicle flavors I was in disbelief for a minute. Any ice cream flavor you could think of, they have it. They make much more then just ice cream and popsicles too. I encourage people to try places like this, I love going to places off the beaten path. When I was there it was quiet and no one else was in the shop. The tables were clean and the workers were happy. I didn't feel pressured to order as I browsed ALL the flavors in the case. Like a kid in a candy store I'm excited about La Michoacana finally opening its doors! Since 2018 I've heard rumors we were getting one and now it's officially here. The location looks small but when you walk in it's huge! There's plenty of seating available as well. I was overwhelmed by the amount of ice cream choices! Seriously it's probably over 100 flavors! Luckily they offer samples. Not only do they serve scoops but they also have endless flavors of paletas (popsicles). All of them made with fresh fruit. They have cream based and regular fruit based. I got the mixed fruit with strawberries, pineapple, and kiwi. Loved it!! Me and my son also shared a banana split. You get 3 scoops of ice cream. We chose the Oreo cookie, coconut pineapple, and snickers. All of them were creamy and flavorful. The presentation was on point! Food and snacks are also served here such as elote, nachos, papas, chicharrones, tostilocos, etc... This place takes me back to my childhood days visiting my family in Ensenada and making a trip to the paleta store. I don't recall if it was La Michoacana but this place totally reminds me of it. So many great ice cream flavors to choose from. Don't forget to brush up on your Spanish so you can make the right selection and sampling. Arroz con leche icecream. So delicious with tiny chunks of rice... It's like a cold tasty rice pudding treat. Also had Abuelitas Mexican hot chocolate... One of my faves for sure. When I certainly here with family, I was able to try several other flavors- One thing to note is some flavors taste like they have coconut flavoring (cookies and cream tasted a lil different). I can't confirm this ingredient, but it had a flavor that tasted different. I can say, there were a stead flow of patrons of all ages coming in and getting a lot of different snacks... Elote, cucumbers with the spicy Cheetos, etc. I'll have to come back to try those too. I wouldn't recommend the churros though- they came out warm and flaccid. I was expecting warm and crispy. Was a long line but it gave us time to see what we wanted to eat Flavor of their pineapple ice cream is yummy and texture reminds me of gelato. My husband & I discovered this place on a whim and were very impressed by the selection inside. They have vending machines with lots of little toys, treats and the selection of snacks, drinks and ice cream is incredible. We love the mangonadas, they have a lot of different varieties featuring exotic fruits. The menu is all in Spanish which we don't speak fluently but if you know a little along with the pics you can figure it out. Plus the employees were bilingual and very helpful. I am a frequent customer at the michoacana's, however I've had bad experiences with this location. I ordered a lemon ice cream and Due to co-vid19 I took the ice cream to my car to eat. The ice cream was so gross and didn't even taste like lemon. I took 3 bites out of it. Went back to ask them if I could replace my ice cream with something else, and the manager was simply RUDE and said no bc I had taken it out of the building. This ice cream is GROSS! La Michoacana is so fun. They have a huge menu! They have everything from ice cream to fresh juice. It's almost too difficult to just get one thing. Almost all of the ice creams can either be ordered in the usual ice cream form or in popsicle form. They also have water based popsicles and they are only $2.50! My family and I were just at this location which we have visited in the past. We had a bad experience last time with the a lady there but we thought she was just having a bad day, we all do. Today, she was very rude again. After waiting about 5 minutes while a gentleman did inventory with about 10 of us waiting to order, the lady went to help the people behind us. I told her that there were six to seven orders for us and asked if we had to wait for the same person. I tried giving this place so many chances but at this point I have just given up. On multiple events I have made the drive from Isla Vista to their location just for to be stood up. First of all their hours are not accurate. They have no phone number so you can't even call and ask. The first time I came it was 5 minutes before closing and they locked up, had the open sign on and didn't let us in. Ok that's fine. We tried to ask the workers for the hours and they refused to make eye contact with us. We tried to ask through the glass and the girls working had the audacity to show us attitude say they were closed and not even answer my question about the hours, and then she proceeded to roll her eyes at me and walk away. Second time, I left immediately after work and arrived 15 minutes before closing. Similar situation! Me and my friends tried to open the door, which was locked and the workers laughed at us and walked away.
