Fernandos recently moved from their long-time Placerville location over to a new spot in Cameron Park. It took us a while to find them, but it was worth it! They have added an outdoor patio with TV - you might want to wait until warmer temperatures to enjoy it though. Although all the food is good, their Salvadorean Specialties are outstanding. Try their take on Chicharrones or Yucca (both in the appetizer section). Or basically anything under the specialties area of their menu. We go there for lunch on occasion (their website has a coupon) and find folks that have driven 30+ minutes just to get there. Lots of people just grab food to go and take it back to work. Soooooo sad!!!! This place is under new ownership and has gone completely downhill!!!! The food isn't as tasty and takes forever. Service is slow and nowhere to be found. We thought it would smooth out after a few months but sadly it's only gotten worse. The owner must be in the back on her cell phone or something because she isn't in the front with customers. Many customers complained that there was no staff to be seen. One guest waited so long to pay with their card they ended up leaving cash because no one ever came back into the dining room to cash him out. It's so sad that this once booming business is failing. So sorry to say but I got to go from this restaurant and it was very much sub par. I ordered a half chicken dish and it came without a chicken breast ( 2 drumsticks and one wing). Ok, so I have to go to everyplace that even sells a burrito. The menu looks pretty good, but a bit on the pricy side for a Mexican/central American place in my opinion. The place was just 'ok' to me. There was nothing that jumped out to make me think of anything more than 3 stars. I will go back, but not for the wine margaritas or the burrito. Came here with my girlfriend and all of our kids today. The food was pretty good... The three stars is for the service. Two girls were taking care of us. The first girl with super long hair was nice. She got us our apple juice and water's and then handed us off to the brunette girl. They both didn't introduce themselves which is important to me because I like to know my servers name so I can ask them questions if they're walking by, but they both didn't. I am giving one star on the service from the blond haired waitress. Every time I am there, she is rude, very short with her communication and overall unpleasant to deal with. She should not be in the customer service business. Maybe she doesn't like dealing with to go orders, who knows. I called this evening and ordered the beef and chicken fajitas along with the children's flautas. I even asked for another order of corn tortillas. I get there and see I have taquitos instead of fajitas. She proceeds to tell me I didn't order the fajitas. I could tell when on the phone that she wasn't listening to me. I even told her that she wasn't listening. She proceeded to tell me it isn't her fault she didn't listen. Really?????? You work with the public, that's your job, to listen to the orders and get them right. She didn't even apologize, she just said she could get an order in now. I told her I was going elsewhere. I'm not giving them my money & if I have to wait another 20 minutes, I'll go where they know how to treat customers. I will NEVER go back here as long as she is employed by them. Myself and significant other dined in for lunch, I was surprised at how busy it was. I ordered their 2 vegetarian enchiladas with rice and black beans -- unfortunately, it was slightly bland and forgettable. The boyfriend ordered the carnitas fajita salad, which he enjoyed. Meh I wasn't too impressed by the food at Fernando's Costa Del Sol. I just wasn't feeling it. I guess I came in having really high expectations for this place and it failed me miserably. The food wasn't all the glory that other yelpers have claimed it would be. It tasted like any other Mexican restaurant. Granted, my review is based off of dinning over a months ago since I'm backed up on reviewing places again. The thing that stood out for me was that it was Salvadorian food, which is similar to Venezuelan food. I tried the papusa and tamal, um yeah tasted like the next Mexican joint. They have a good selection of brews, my boyfriend had a corona and I got a Kona. He had the lunch special which was a MASSIVE chicken burrito with all the fixings inside and cheese on top for only $7. I ordered a pork pupusa and just YUM and so cheap $2! Although the prices are reasonable, we experienced very poor service and the quality of food was very poor. Soggy "crispy" tacos, bland rice & beans, over done carne, and it took over 40 min to get our food after ordering. Apparently, if you order "To-Go", the service is much better. We saw SIX to-go orders go out before we even got our food. The wine margaritas should be skipped, along with their salads. We were hoping we could have found a great local spot with authentic Mexican/Salvadorian food, but this is not the case here. Too bad. Very disappointed. :-( read more

Looking for a great place to eat in the Cameron Park area, then Fernando's Is the place to go. The weekly specials are great. Go on Thursday night and get the Taco's. Order the home made tortillas and you can us them to make a couple more Taco's. The fish tacos are also the best in the area. The salsa has a great flavor and it makes it hard to stop eating it. I've been here twice. The BD likes the pupusas here. I think they're just ok. The rice and beans are just ok. The chicharrons are too dry when fried and has no fat. The guacamole is just ok. Fernando's is kind of hidden but it's located in the south west corner of Green Valley Rd & Cameron Park Dr. The food is very good here. Somewhat pricey, but the quality is excellent. The lunch menu is reasonable and when you go check out the specials. You will find good deals on their specials. I usually order the Tostada de Ceviche (shrimp), Acapulco burrito or the Taquitos. The food portions are pretty big so you will have leftovers. I recommend this place! read more

Had lunch at Fernand's yesterday with a friend. She ordered the Chimichunga - she really liked it. I ordered a "deconstructed" chicken burrito (I do not eat wheat). The chicken was served over some black beans with melted jack cheese on top. The chicken was amazing. Tasty and tender. I had the combo black beans and also some refried beans. Both were very good. We had lunch special:, one chili relleno plate and one carnitas burrito plate, plus a shredded beef burrito meal for take-out. Sadly, all the entrees were absolutely bland, bland, bland. Even after adding salt and lots of their tasty salsa, the food was just tasteless. I am convinced my chili relleno was either heated up from frozen or it had been in the fridge for a long time. The batter was flavorless and rubbery. The refried beans were okay, and I appreciate that they don't serve their food in an avalanche of cheese. Even the rice had almost no flavor. We are hoping this was a fluke, and we are going to try one more time to try to be fair. But if it's this bad next time, it will be our last visit to this local restaurant. read more
