Normally doing anything with my car is an intimidating experience because I know so little about them. I went in anticipating dealing with a rude mechanic who would talk down to me and upcharge me for everything. However, this was not my typical experience and ended up being a terrific one. They offered advice on what to pick, consulted one another to make sure I was making the right decisions and that things in my car looked alright, and made me very comfortable asking questions. They also filled up my tires and did more safety checks than any other place has. The billing was transparent and I could even see the computer screen to see the transparency. I've never been loyal to an oil change place before, but this is now most definitely my preferred place to go! Can't say enough good things about my experience here. read more

This place is by far our FavEver GoTo for oil change & basic vehicle maintenance. And now we'll be coming here for our teen's 2005 Mini Cooper check-ups as well as my 2012 Jeep. Orlando waved us in with a smile after only 5minutes of waiting outside the shop doors. A quick change, 5w-30synth, fluid checks, lights, wipers and oil / air filter inspections by efficient master mechanic Daniel, Our friend Orlando noticed a very low tire pressure (6lbs instead of 36lbs) and Daniel checked for nails. One small nail was found, removed and plugged...all done in 15 minutes! People are awesome & the price is right. I went 15 mins out of my way to come here because of all the great Yelp reviews I thought I would be well taken care of. Tldr: they don't wear masks and they don't tell you that you don't need to change your oil until AFTER they change it. I thought since i smelt oil that maybe my car had somehow burnt oil twice as fast. This isn't really uncommon because I've customized it and it's old and heavy. I'm also not the most mechanically minded. So i got in and my oil is still half good- has 1,510 miles on it. I knew that from the sticker but i wasn't told it was actually good until AFTER he changed my oil. I had bought synthetic grade before so essentially he took a high quality oil out knowing it was good and changed it for $$. Super irritating. None of the workers had masks on at all either, and customers weren't required to wear masks. It seems like the pen they use was just freely shared too. I did get my coolant replaced which was the cause of the oil smell- which i appreciate them checking on. They charged me a very reasonable price according to the internet. I'm just really upset because the guy poured out $40 of perfectly good oil and then charged me the $45 for the lower grade oil. So I essentially wasted $66 by coming here. Wouldn't really reccomend unless you know for sure your oil is done because they won't tell you you're okay until after they've drained and charged you, which I think is a really poor practice for a business. read more

They have earned my business due to there trust worthiness which is hard to find in oil change business. They have never tried to upsell me and recommendations have been right on point. I own my car and I have 2 leases. I used to think that the leased cars should be taken to the dealership until I met the guys that work here. I only trust these guys to do it right every time. I had visited this place prior for a different car I was driving. Just went to them again yesterday for an oil change. Service seemed find but now less than 24 hours later I park my car at my job and there red liquid leaking from my engine after it shut off. Came here for a $20 oil change and I was pleased with my service. I was able to walk in without an appt. They were friendly and prompt. The car was ready within an hour of bringing it in. On the bill, they did an entire service check list so it seems like they really checked everything and went above and beyond! Also they had a good sticker printed to go in your window with the est date of your next oil change and:or the mileage to bring it back in at. Also, I noticed before that something was hanging down under my car. They repaired it for me at no additional cost. I was looking for a new place to get an oil change after being disappointed with other places where you see one price and get charged something completely different after various fees and up charges for a seemingly normal vehicle (Ford Escape). The yelp reviews were strong for Ferndale Oil Change and I can see why. I went on a Friday afternoon and the place was busy, but I only had to wait for one vehicle in front of me and I still was out in no more than a half hour total. The price on the wall was what I paid (synthetic oil change was 45.99 plus a 1.99 service fee, but no complaints!). They didn't try to pressure me into upgrades or act like my 2 year old car was going to fall apart after turning down some of the extras like the other places shame you. They also didn't charge me to take off the skid plate (I think that's what it's called) like other places do. Service guys were friendly, professional and fast! read more

I went here two weeks ago for an oil change and while there was shown a sample of a clear liquid and was told that my anti freeze was practically water and needed to be replaced. They quoted me at over $100. That seemed a bit high so I declined and went back to my normal oil change shop and they showed me my anti freeze, which was a solid red and they told me it was perfectly fine and did not need to be replaced. Ferndale Oil Change Center clearly just saw a young woman with 2 small children in the back seat and tried to take advantage of me. I was pulling out of my drive way on my way to a meeting in Madison Heights when my brake light came on. I knew I was due for an oil change so I figured that my brake fluid was low as well but I didn't have time to stop anywhere to check it out before the meeting. I drove out to that side of town without incident but I didn't want to press my luck and drive back home to Ann Arbor without getting it checked out first. I had a small window of time after the meeting and before an event in Ferndale so I decided to look for an oil change place in Ferndale to see if my suspicion that it was just low fluid was accurate. So I did a search and thanks to the handy dandy Yelp app I found Ferndale Oil Change. And I'm so glad I did! They were fan-effing-tastic. At about 4pm on a Wednesday I pulled in with no wait and told them about the brake light. I also informed them that I was due for an oil change but also that I was very low on time. They told me they'd check out the break sitch and if it was the fluid they could top it off and do the oil change in about 10 minutes. I told them to go for it. Suspicions were correct--fluids were just low. They filled me up, did the oil change, replaced my air filter and checked my lights in about 15 minutes. Pretty fast and pretty darn close to the time promised. Actually, it probably would have been closer to 10 but I told them to just go ahead and replace the filter since I was there. The dudes here were super nice and the price wasn't too bad. I did leave paying a decent penny but I always go for the premium synthetic oil that lasts a really long time because, as this experience shows, I'm terrible at getting in for an OC so the less I have to do it the better. So for me the higher price only a few times a year is worth it to me. One cool thing though, is that after you've registered as a first customer you'll get a frequent flier card that'll get you 10% off future services. I don't live in Ferndale so I'm not 100% sure how often I'll get to take advantage of it but I like the option. I'm also so grateful they helped me out so fantastically when I was in a bind. After having had several oil changes here over the last year I have to admit that this place has a solid service staff that I've come to trust to do good work. I've been an advocate of performing my own oil changes for a long time but since I finally have a rapport with these guys I just assume come here since it only costs a few dollars more than doing it myself. That said, I'm rarely ever here more than 15 minutes and I feel like these guys don't try to scare me into buying unneeded services. They are fairly thorough too so I feel like my Jeep is being taken care of.
