The one drawback is that they don't take appointments, but as long as one gets there early in the morning, they can usually get the job done same day. These guys are pretty good to work with when your car is down and out. Recently, we had a bent rim issue where they had to send out the rim to get filled in. Well, when we got it back it kept the air in it for about 24 hours, but then went completely flat. So ,now we had to take it back on the spare (that's another story), but Mad Tire said they'll have their rim guys fix it right this time...hopefully it'll be fixed RIGHT. I hate being without a car. We have these guys do all our oil changes since they have the LOC plan (lifetime oil change) service there. And they always do a great fast job. Another time they replaced an oil intake gasket and charged us less than the allotted time it took them to actually do it. That's good honesty and we continue to use them for that reason. I came here for an oil change, partly based on the reviews, and partly for convenient location near my office. I dropped my Saab turbo off and spoke with the gentleman at the counter. He asked me several questions about the make, model, and engine type of my car. I hitched a ride back to work with a colleague, and about an hour later, they called to say they were done. When I returned to the shop to get my car and pay the bill, I was surprised at the number on the bottom line. It was about half what I normally pay. I mentioned that to the guy behind the counter. (Different guy than who I'd spoken to when I dropped my car off.) He kind of paused and said, "Uh, do you get synthetic?" "Ahh, yeah. I do. I thought that would be marked on the paperwork when I dropped the car off. Your coworker asked me lots of questions all about my engine and everything, and was looking stuff up in the computer..." (What I am actually thinking is "What the heck? Since when does a Saab turbo take regular oil? Are y'all for real? Holy crap, dude.") The guy behind the counter looked mildly pained and asked if I could wait while they re-did the job. They pulled my car back in the bay, and drained the oil and re-filled with synthetic. I was then charged what would be the typical price for my oil changes. It's kind of not funny when I know more about my car than the guys at a mechanic shop. I don't expect them to know every piece of minutia about every car, but I do expect them to get it right when they look it up in their database and write up the work order. read more

I started going here a few months ago. I intentionally did not tell them the problem to see if they would be honest and not try to oversell me. They were honest. Their prices are reasonable (as if any car repair place is reasonable). One word of caution they have a lot of work, very little bay space so get there early or you will be waiting most of the day til they get to your car. Its a hidden little auto repair gem. read more

Had a wonderful experience here after not being treated very well at a local dealership. Both gentleman I spoke to took the time to listen to the concern I had regarding my vehicle and fixed the problem. They saved me about $600 too. As a woman with absolutely no knowledge when it comes to servicing/fixing cars this was the first time I didn't feel like someone was trying to take advantage of me. Needed new tires. Ordered the tires online. Meanwhile during the cold snap battery died and my ADAS controller driver seat stopped working. These guys took care of me very well. They fixed everything very well, replaced the battery, replaced motors in my seat. Did all the work at a very reasonable price, and got me on the road to not disturb my daughter's trek to the great wolf lodge. I'd highly recommend these folks. Great shop, with great prices. I usually do my mechanical work myself, but sometimes I have a shop do certain tasks. I had them swap out the engine in my Subaru. It had a blown head gasket, so I was replacing it with a used japanese engine which I had inspected and cleaned up. Their price they quoted was very fair, and way lower than anything else in the area. The work was done well, and on the timeline they estimated. read more

A family member turned my on to Madison Tire & we all gone here for the last several years. They did extensive brake work on my brother's Buick 16 months ago & when there was a problem with the brakes (enough to make me uncomfortable driving it) they had it towed & repaired - no charge. If that's not fantastic & reason to never go anywhere else, I don't know what is. Always very reasonable & never selling you stuff/services you don't need. I so appreciate a shop that will tell you 'no need to replace 'X' -maybe at some point if you get the following symptoms, but for now, you're good to go'. There's a mechanic/shop to hold on to! In full disclosure, I also take my car to one other shop because I live downtown Detroit, & the other shop is 2 blocks from my residence (& they're similarly straightforward about their work), but the rest of my family (in B'ham, Royal Oak, Warren, wouldn't ever go anywhere else. I've recommended Madison to others, who've become regular & devoted customers as well. read more

Incredibly friendly and efficient. They were busy when I got there for my oil change, so they took down my information and I did some other things. When I came back, they were ready for me. I just went here for the first time solely based on the good reviews I read on Yelp. I wanted to get a second opinion on an estimate given to me from another place, just for good measure. I got here a little late as far as first come first served places go (10 am) but they looked at my car and got me an estimate in about an hour. Joe sat down with me and explained what everything meant, he even drew a diagram on the back of the paper. He gave me his recommendations, and told me honestly that the issues weren't URGENT (like the other place said) but that they should be addressed to ensure the longevity of my car. He even explained ways we could go about the work on my car that would save me money. I'm a college student that's just trying to make this car last me through school, so this meant a lot to me! I'm not well-versed in mechanics either, and having someone actually sit down with me to help chart a course for my car maintenance made all the difference. I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Excellent service. I came here at 8am to get my second set of wheels with snow tires swapped on after Belle Tire said they *might* be able to do it by the END of the day/ possibly next day. I drove right to MHT&A and they did it within an hour and for half the price! The owner was polite and the tech who did the swap cleared all the snow off my wheels before stowing them in the bags because he said "that's what i would have wanted if i were having this done". Took my car here for an oil change. Took almost an hour which I would have given them 5 stars for 30-45 min. They were friendly, reasonably priced and found a valve cover oil leak which they told me was covered under my warranty and I should take it to the dealer. I appreciate that. I decided to drop my car off here based on all the good reviews. When I dropped my car off I told them I needed brakes, and there was a rattling sound from the tires every time I hit a bump. After looking over the car they called me back with the news. Told me I needed pads and rotors for brakes and the rattling was from the sway bars. $400 for both. He went on to tell me that they found a few other issues under the car. After each one telling me if it was something that needed to be fixed immediately or if it could wait. Basically to make a long story short he could have told me all these things need to be done now and soaked me for $2900 but instead he was honest and told me what I needed now and what he recommended I had done next. I don't know much about cars so I like to feel comfortable when I go to an auto shop and I really walked out of here feeling the guys were honest and did a great job informing me on other issues I should look into going forward. read more
