I stopped by The Ferndale Project on a Thursday afternoon around 2. There were plenty of open seats and the overall atmosphere felt relaxed and chill. This is an order at the counter spot, so you grab a menu, place your order up front, and they give you a buzzer when your food is ready. I ordered a drink and the chicken Caesar wrap, which came out to $21. The chicken was grilled really nicely and had a lot of flavor. The wrap also comes with a jalapeño Caesar dressing, which initially threw me off since I am not a spicy person, but it ended up being delicious and not spicy at all. I stayed until about 5:30 and more families started coming in and there were quite a few kids around. There is a small playpen area for kids that is not padded, and watching a two year old climb around with no adult looked like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Overall, I had a good experience. Great experience with a large group of 15. You order your food and drinks from the hip, friendly guy at the register and grab your food once you get buzzed. Tons of seating inside and out. The outside area is dog friendly. The BBA cherry à la mode sour was amazing. Not too sweet or sour or overly bourbon tasting. The smash burger was ok - the bun was just a little overgrilled for my liking. The homemade dill ranch to dip your parmesan fries is where it's at! The ones that we did try were good, not great. The children's play area was also slightly underwhelming and dirty. I feel like it could very easily be much better if they put a door on it, one or two more toys and cleaned it more often. But, it was still ok! Best for kids 2-5ish. I love Ferndale Project. Although it's tough to say goodbye to the brunch menu, I like that they're pivoting and trying to stay with changing tides. Food is great, brew is great (coffee and NA Beer), service and staff are friendly, informed, inclusive, and kind. Most recently I ordered the vegan Philly and an oat milk latte while I waited. I also ordered an oat iced matcha to go. Corner for the kiddos to play and when the weather is favorable, the outdoor seating is ample and a delight. I don't do food pics. I love this place. I don't live around here anymore (I grew up nearby, then moved out of state), but when I visit, I like to meet up with friends here. There are several reasons that make this a great place to meet. The first is it's location. I like that it's situated back in a neighborhood of Ferndale that is quiet, away from the hustle of the downtown, but but conveniently located nearby. It's also steps away from 8 Mile Rd. and so it's easy to get to and find. The second reason is the offerings. It's a coffee shop, a brewery, and a restaurant. Full disclosure: I have not yet tried the food, but I was quite tempted as I saw others around me picking up their food on my recent visit. I feel a bit of regret on this front, though I ate before I came (I didn't realize they had so many food options!) I have visited both for the coffee and for the beer. Both are great and plenty of options of both. On my visit this week, they were clearancing extra cans of experiement craft beer for super cheap! I decided to take 8 cans home. But while visiting, I enjoyed an ice coffee. I recommend coming early in the day for your coffee and later in the day for your beer! The third reason is the atmosphere/ambiance/vibe. When I step onto their colorful patio, or inside to place an order, I feel welcome. All are welcome here and they've made it clear. And that's the most important vibe I'm looking for. I was greeted with a smile when I bought my coffee and my questions about the menu were answered in a friendly manner. It was clear I was not a regular, and that's okay here. On this Monday evening I came in, they were having a trivia game. Wow, it is busy on trivia night! I love some trivia, but I was catching up with an old friend, so we spent some time inside until it became a trivia game, then we went out to the patio to finish our conversation. I recommend both indoors and outdoors on days like this, depending on what you're looking for. If I'm meeting friends in Ferndale, this is a great place to meet up. I have been to FP a couple of times, mostly for trivia and this time for brunch! I got the shrimp and grits and it teleported me to the south! The shrimp was well cooked and flavorful - with a great amount of spice. I am a fan of cheesy grits or grits with a bit more sauce and I just wish these had a little more sauce to add flavor and help a bit with the dryness. FP is a great vibe indoor and outdoor and there are a bunch of seats always. I would super recommend their beers also there is something for everyone. You order up at the counter and the food comes out pretty fast. There is limited parking on site but you would find some down the street! read more

I've been coming here consistently for about five months, thinking I'd finally found a reliable, co-working-friendly spot with good coffee, tea, and Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, the experience has gone steadily downhill. The kitchen has been in constant flux for months, with staff walking out, an ever-shrinking menu, and multiple days where no food was offered at all. Staff even suggested I use DoorDash, which I did without issue, until today. Despite others having outside drinks, I was singled out and approached twice in an aggressive manner over a DoorDash smoothie. The second manager came to me with his arms folded, raised his voice, and accused me of "not complying," even though my drink had arrived just minutes earlier. The interaction was rude, unprofessional, and embarrassing, especially given how often I've supported this place by purchasing their food and drinks. This organization feels like it's in constant disarray, the staff interactions have become hostile, and the overall environment is no longer welcoming. Decided to to come here after sampling a beer at cider dayz in armada. Super cute inside, with a coffee area to the left and a small bar on the right. I ordered the jalen wrap, and it was delicious. I added a side of nashville hot sauce, and mind blown. It was a chicken/veggie/Buffalo wrap.. and I'm obsessed. The fries were bomb as well, I would suggest ordering those. I also got one of the sour beers, and it was delicious as well. It's a order at the front, seat yourself set up. Where you bus your tables and run all of your stuff. I would of stayed longer and ordered more, but I wasn't sure how everything worked, and I was a bit intimidated. Very polite and helpful staff, will definitely read more

I went to this place this past Tuesday, so my review is a little late so bare with me here. I also didn't try everything in the pictures so bare with me. Now let me talk to ya, this place surprised us. I went here with two friends. One had the beet burger & the other had another type of burger. I can't remember what it was. I had the tacos & fries and we all shared the chips and salsa. The fries here were really good. Nice and flavorful. They were just different. Every place does fries the same way you gotta appreciate when places do thing different. They have vegan options so that's always a plus n my vegan friend said he never had a vegan burger like that. It was good. My other friend loved his burger as well. The chips were really good. Not sure how they do them but they were special. The salsa was salsa it's what you expect but the sauce sitting next to it was not only vegan but it was phenomenal. Lastly my tacos, could've been better. I enjoyed them chicken tacos mostly but it could've been better. The tortilla was like a hand made one n I appreciate that. N the potato on the taco could've had more sauce or spices. Service is good. Everyone was super chill here & the place it self is spacious and relaxing. Prices are decent so give it a try. They also have dipped donuts so that too is a plus. Came here for brunch on a Sunday. A large space with many seating options and an area for children to play. I ordered the breakfast burrito, the strawberry lemonade, and shared a beer. Wow, it was great! The burrito had all the right fillings, and there was a beautiful texture from the chorizo (I believe) like a webbed crunch that I couldn't get enough of. Ferndale Project is a nice place for a casual get-together or reception. I was invited to a private event at Ferndale Project hosted by my alma mater's alumni association. The event I attended was outside under canopies. It was a bit cold but everyone had a good time. I'm not a big drinker but there is something for everyone's tastes. The catered food was so-so. The chicken tenders were a bit dry. Nothing fancy but at least there was food so I'm thankful for that. Free street parking is available along Livernois. read more

Friendly staff! Really good beer! Me and a buddy came in for a mid-week meet up to grab some food. Looking over the menu, a couple of the pizzas sounded interesting. I ordered two Detroit style square larges...one of the Funghi (+ roasted garlic) pizzas with whipped herbed Ricotta, and their Korean Bulgogi pie. They both sounded incredible. I thought I'd give them a shot despite the ridiculous pricing. Each of them were $27 for the large (2-3 toppings). The Funghi was Ok enough but no sauce to speak of...just the Ricotta on top with a decent load of Brick cheese, a fair amount of mushrooms, and the roasted garlic. It was more or less a focaccia with some toppings and it was pretty dry without an underlying sauce (a red sauce would've been delightful with the toppings and the ricotta). The Bulgogi pie was all around SAD! Again, lots of bread and cheese but hardly any Bulgogi meat (~1 piece per slice) and with only a thin drizzle of gochujang sauce across the top of the pie. It was a super dry pie. A fair spread of gochujang sauce under the cheese and doubling the meat would've done wonders to make this an exceptional pie. $54 for 2 pizzas is absurd! Both pizzas were basically focaccia with toppings and cheese on top. The ambiance is cool. I like the firepit for a cooler fall night but I think I saw what I needed to see here. read more

Terrible. Very limited brunch menu. You order at the coffee/ bar counter and they give you a buzzer. You find a seat - inside or outside. When your buzzer goes off, you pick up your food at the kitchen counter. There, you can help yourself to room temp water, silverware, condiments, napkins, etc. When you're done eating, there is a dirty dishes rack where you can drop off your plates, etc. I asked the guy at the counter if he prefers the avocado toast or the burrito. He said both are good (of course!?) but if I'm very hungry, to go with the toast since it's a big portion. I was starving so I went with his recommendation. The avocado toast was so underwhelming. They didn't put any tomatoes and the poached egg was so overcooked it was hard boiled. Gross. And the portion was small. I hate leaving a restaurant still hungry. Ugh! There is plenty of street parking and as far as I could tell, it's free. read more

This place was a whole lot of fun! I already love the Eastern Market Brewing Company. If you look through my pictures you will definitely come across many photos I have taken there. Whenever I am at Eastern Market I need to run over there and get a small flight of drinks. I have seen this place on social media and was finally able to visit. This place is a party for the entire family. For very small kids there is an area for them to play, board games for all, and the outdoor patio with live bands and a DJ. They had blow up beach balls to toss around, a fire pit, it was good for people with dogs to hang out, amazing fun. Their drinks are always fun to try. I had their grapefruit raddler, not as sweet at the typical German one I tend to get (not sure of the name) but very good. We had their kolshe which was nice and drinkable. We also tried their non-alcoholic tangerine gose with a hint of salt, excellent especially for a non-alcoholic beverage. We also tried their mango lime non-alcoholic seltzer which was very tasty. We also got their fun bottle of rose lemonade. The kids liked the place a lot, especially because they had non-alcoholic options plus you can get some waters. The food was very good. We got the wings, the siracha maple chicken, the smash burgers, and their fries. The chicken was so crispy with a nice sweet and spicy kick. I loved the burger, it was cooked really well and tasted great the next day. The fries were really nicely seasoned and they provided a nice amount, I had leftovers of those too. The miso ranch was okay, but their Nashville hot sauce was absolute fire! Now I truly have nothing to compare it to because honestly and surprisingly I have never tried Nashville hot sauce ever even though it is a big thing right now, so I would not know what other places taste like, but it was soooo good here I could drink it. I would come back just for the hot sauce. It was that good. The individuals working here were very friendly and accommodating. They were very helpful and helped create a fun atmosphere. It is basically in the middle of a subdivision, so it seems like the neighborhood hangout. I would love to visit and again and so would the kids. I also would love to come here and play some games, maybe try their coffee offerings. And I was impressed with their vegan options. The tofu sandwich looked very good, so did the salads. Ferndale Project has a huge indoor bar, indoor eating area, and outdoor eating area. It's an inviting place that serves good coffee and beer. You have to go up to the desk to order, but the service is friendly, and they try to get the line moving. For brunch, I got the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was delicious. The chorizo and chimichurri provided plenty of flavor. However, I'd say it was overpriced for how big the burrito was. Overall, it is a solid spot to go to for hanging out with friends, drinking, and grabbing a bite to eat. It's also a good option for brunch. read more

We ordered the taquitos, chips and guacamole, peach lemonade, Peruvian salad with pulled chicken and a fried chicken sandwich too, which comes with chips and salsa, the verde. You can upgrade the side to fries. They bring the food out to you. You do have to bus your own table at the end. The guacamole isn't too bad, made in house. The chips are okay. A couple of small pieces of the avocado skin made it into the mix. The taquitos are yummy, crunchy. Eating outside isn't so fun, the flies are aggressive and relentless too. The Peruvian salad is okay, some greens would have been nice with it. The peach lemonade is so-so, the peach and lemonade doesn't do it for me much. Tastes odd to me and off too. I accidentally walked a mile in a half in the rain to get to Ferndale Project, and I'm happy to say it was worth it. I can only review the establishment based on on the one time that I went which was midweek, during the day and it was rainy so there was literally only two other people there, but I really enjoyed the vibe. The Nashville Tofu Sandwich was delicious, but needed a bit more sauce (I would ask for sauce on the side next time). I loved that the beers were very clearly labeled as sour, hoppy, etc when you first walk in. I'm not a huge beer drinker and it helped me make a tasty decision. Hope to make it back soon! read more

Ate here when it was Axle Brewing Company and liked it, interior is about the same as it was before but with new menu and new beer options. Inside it was community seating and not a ton of seating.
