    French onion soup
    Amanda B.

It was a busy Saturday brunch time. Service was good. French onion soup was good but would like a little crust on the cheese. I did not like the dill pickle soup it was very gelatinous but it was Vegan so I should have known better. The beer cheese burger was not as great as I thought it would be and I didn't like the whole grape tomatoes. Could have used more cheese. It was only on half of the burger.

We went for a birthday celebration! Had such a good time! The food was soooo good. I loved the orange and cranberry cake was soooo good. The wings and Brussels yummy! Great decorations for the holiday, service was top notch. Ask for Barry! Can't wait to return and make sure to order a mimosa fountain!

Stopped in for the Christmas pop up with some friends. The place was nicely decorated. We had a reservation, but they stuck us in the last table by the kitchen and we kept getting bumped by people coming out with food from the kitchen area. The place was pretty cramped as well. They had a selection of holiday cocktails that were alright. The menu seemed to have a lot of options, but the food was mediocre at best. I doubt any of us would be back. I had the surf and turf Benedict. The sauce was good. The steak was overcooked and tough. One of the eggs were overcooked as well. It was very ok.

It's been on my holiday bucket list to check out "Jingle" at Ale Mary's! The themed menu and decor definitely illuminates the ultimate festive atmosphere! They are definitely busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait. We ended up finding a seat at the bar where we received friendly service and our food arrived promptly and hot! I greatly enjoyed my chicken and waffles, the chicken was freshly battered and the waffles were perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My guy enjoyed his chorizo hash but said it is VERY spicy so if you are appeased by spice, that is your thing! The playfully named holiday cocktails are served in a variety of fun glasses and we tried the "You'll shoot your eye out" which was fruity and refreshing!

I came here with a group of 8 to celebrate a birthday. They were already seated when I arrived and the waitress promptly took our orders. We waited about 30 minutes for our food. I ordered the BELT sandwich and the strawberry spritz. I forgot I don't like aperol, which is in the spritz, but the strawberry flavor kind of masked the bitterness. My sandwich was soooo good, I gobbled it down. The fries it came with were decent but not my preference

We came for lunch for the holiday pop up Jingle! SUPER CUTE!!! Our server was the best! Super nice, gave great suggestions and went over all the menus and specials. Santas Milk and Cookies drink was good but VERY strong. Cutest mug. My friend enjoyed their gingerbread pancakes and I LOVED the hangover fries. EXCELLENT flavor and spice! Definitely recommend. Suggest reservations even for lunch.

This is a go to place when we are in town visiting friends. Has an entire vegan menu which is great, along side the non vegan menu. The service is great, we had a very accommodating waiter who checked ingredients for my allergies. The one down side is the prices, but where isn't that the case these days? They have indoor and outdoor seating, in the winter they do enclosed heated igloos. Typical bar type atmosphere otherwise, it is kid friendly.

    Mimosa Flight

I visited here after passing by for a year and I ordered the mimosa flight which was amazing. However, I had the southern chicken and waffles and was disappointed. They gave me 3 chicken tenders to go with the waffle. The waffle was good but the chicken was lack luster. The service was ambiance of the restaurant was extremely welcoming and the server did an amazing job answering the my party's questions regarding the menu!

Open late in Royal Oak, and with the space fully decked out for the Christmas season, we swung by at 9pm on a Wednesday evening and it was poppin. While the menu on their website needs updating (they don't have shrimp tacos or chicken tacos any longer, but have added many other fun options), overall the food was decent and tasty. We got the Buffalo Cauliflower- solid, delicious, and a good portion size - to start. For our meals, we got the impossible burger, the vegan Korean style "beef" burger, and the impossible chorizo nachos. All were good, but nothing really stood out to us by any means. My partner got a beer, which he really enjoyed. They have an extensive beer menu and among them, a selection of Christmas brews. I got the margarita with cranberry puree on the cocktail menu, which wasn't too sweet yet boozy and balanced. I definitely recommend the buffalo cauliflower... However, the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was consistently away for periods of time , usually wrapping silverware in the back. When I asked for the paper towels to be refilled in the men's restroom, multiple times to different staff, they were never refilled through the entirety of our visit of over an hour and a half. While we were able to get seated quickly upon arriving, I hear rumors of long wait times at other points in the week, so be ready to be patient. That said, it's still a good spot for a late evening meal in Royal Oak, so I'd definitely go back for another visit.

    $18 nachos....

I don't know if it was because of the holiday season demand of this place, but they bumped up the prices on the menu so much it's not an affordable little tavern/pub anymore. The pricing you see for drinks and meals here is what you would see at a nice restaurant in downtown Detroit. Not certain of the price increase is to cover staff wages and tipping not expected, but genuinely shocked. My nachos (listed as an appetizer) placed on a small plate were $18. Still a nice place but a burger and a small plate of nachos should not come out to over $40, especially at a place like this....

    Lobster roll with fries

Came here with friends for a dinner. Ordered the lobster roll with fries. Fries were good, lobster roll was alright, but the amount of food and quality was not worth the $32 price tag. I enjoy the amount of vegan options and the service was good. I'd consider coming back and trying something different.

Dalton was amazing, and took care of us immediately. He had great recommendations and the atmosphere was great! would come back again!!!

Always so excited to go to Ale Marys, at the start with all the flashy lights and interesting sounding menu, BUT. I don't know I just leave feeling the food wasn't that good and the experience didn't live up to the hype. Then you get the bill and you're definitely like meee I think we'll give this one a hard pass next time. All the lights and the Christmas theme are fun, but get past the glits and the glamor and Ale Marys it's just another overpriced Royal oak money grab. Yelp wanted a review today it's only two stars for me. Either the food needs to get better or the prices need to come down a little bit. Think my dinner for two was over 90 bucks.

A hostess who takes your money and gives you a bracelet, automated beer, and you use your phone to order from the kitchen, they text you and you go get your food. I wondered many times how they could serve alcohol and not monitor how much people were drinking? So I asked. The host is in the front said at the end of 32 oz is your bracelet will not work and you need to come up and see me to reset it. I guess that's how they would monitor whether or not someone could get another 32 oz? I'm surprised not more places have copied their business layout. With the new generation, this would be the place to go, you barely have to speak to anyone except for the people you're with.

I opted for the garlic fries upcharge, bringing my total to $19.00. Somehow I justified it because I like these toppings and these toppings weirdly weren't available on a pizza. Or at least I didn't see it via the phone based ordering system. Yes, that's right, this is all of the future check with wrist bands and pour your own beer situation. Don't look for a paper menu, they ain't here. My sandwich wasn't a grilled cheese. It was basically pesto toast with large sun-dried tomatoes and scraps of mozzarella. Baby spinach was just missing. I did inquire to the host (perchance the only actual employee?) and he did talk to the kitchen and I guess they were out. With that information I turned to my friend Robert and said, "You know why we have servers? So they can let you know they're 86 spinach." I suppose I would have adjusted my order had I known this too. What's nuts is, they have ingredients to make a better grilled cheese. I mean, step one: add cheese. Why not mix the ricotta and pesto together and then add like havarti or something that may actually melt and have flavor. The sun-dried tomatoes should be sliced smaller. The garlic fries were fine, but also could have had more flavor. Robert's and neighboring table's pizza looked fine. Is it better than any other place offering Detroit style pizza? Hard to say. I guess I'm not in a hurry to go back. The kind host did make an adjustment to my bill for lack of spinach--but having a server would have prevented that being necessary.
