The apps (fried pickles and sweet potato fries) were really good as was the seafood brunch special. The chicken pesto sandwich was a little messy. Our waitress made the experience great. Location was a short walk from our parking spot not like walking down a plank on a pirate ship. (Due to road work) We were welcomed by a friendly hostess and Frank in the tank. (Video included.) I wanted to try the seafood but I also wanted a burger and they had a BLT Shrimp burger which was really good! I got it with chips and salsa and their salsa was made in-house which was good but not as spicy as I thought it'd be as the waitress warned it to be. I had fries from my friend's plate and it was good but I prefer fat fries over skinny ones. My friends and I all got a chiller but one of us specifically got the Soft Serve Martini as seen on TikTok. Basically a Salted Caramel Martini as a chiller and our waitress said the bartenders do not love making those because it takes time but it would take the same amount of time for a chiller... That drink was the best out of all of ours. I had the Mudslide which was also good. I wish the chocolate was a little more incorporated other than the glass rimming. My friend also wished her White Russian had a bit more coffee flavoring. The restaurant itself has a really nice vibe and decorations. Went here last friday and was pleasantly surprised. Wide variety of options on the menu. Our server, Darren, was so nice and helpful. We got to sit outside while it got dark and it wasn't too busy. The table we sat at had a baby born on it??? That was crazy. Inside reminded me of a place in memory, a place from the past. Pretty reasonably priced too. I really enjoyed my salmon reuben. Stopped by Lily's for lunch during restaurant week and had a solid meal overall. We kicked things off with the spinach dip appetizer, and it was actually really good -- didn't need a thing! It set a nice tone for the meal. I ordered the salmon bisque to start but swapped it out for the clam chowder. It wasn't as thick as I'm used to, but with a little salt, it was fine. For my entrée, I had the Char Grilled Chicken & Wild Mushroom Linguini. It was tasty but needed a bit more salt to bring out the flavors. The real highlight was dessert: the Red White and Blueberry Cream Puff. Light, airy, and totally delicious! I have to shout out the bartender -- they were awesome and made the experience even better. I didn't really interact with the rest of the staff since I was at the bar, but the service I got was great. Overall, I'd come back, especially for that cream puff and the solid service. Service was great. We ordered the mussels and to say they were incredible would be an understatement. We also tried the clam chowder. It was unlike any I'd had before, and neither of us really cared for the taste. Does not have the expected taste of New England clam chowder. Entree was the crab cakes which proved to be too spicy for me to eat. Our waitress was nice enough to bring me some of their house made tartar sauce, which I normally am not a fan of, and I'll admit it was very good. But I still couldn't eat the crab cakes. It was a spontaneous stop in Royal Oak yesterday and Lily's Seafood was amazing. I ordered from the appetizers. Crab cakes with Chipotle sauce and just enough mixed greens on the side, for me as a little salad with lemon. Additionally, my favorite sweet potato fries spiced up. It was delicious! The food here is delightful. Everything we had was well cooked and delicious. The shrimp in the pasta was even cooked perfectly which is easy to mess up. I gotta' say, I'm a bit on the fence about Lily's. The ambiance is nice, the staff are super nice, Especially our waitress when we asked her favorites for choice, she happily exclaimed, "Everything!" Loved it! The food however was a bit of let down in the expectations department. We did explain we had some food aversions, mostly too much spice didn't sit well on the tongue, and asked for everything, but on the side juuust in case. We still ended up with crab cakes that were too spicy to enjoy entirely. That being said our waitress was quick to offer a sauce to help with the heat, but it was still a tad overpowering. The appetizer mussels were amazing. They had this fantastic garlic butter sauce with bleu cheese and cheddar. Beer, food and staff are top notch. Used to be a great place to watch a Lions game and other sports, but they went el cheapo and cancelled cable and now their TVs keep buffering and/or turning off constantly over their terrible WiFi. It was embarrassing as the bar area cleared out and whet to other places to watch Packers/Lions game before halftime. They are going to lose business big time unless they fix the problem. read more

We shared two orders fresh perch fillets and they came with salad and the best fries we have ever had. These fries were truly fantastic. They specialize in craft beer and everybody enjoyed their brew. I however, swear by their homemade root beer. Our waitress was super and the service was surprisingly fast. Lily's is a perfect place for families and date night. They brew their own beer so you get to try something new. I had the Cranberry gin fiz which was the perfect amount of cranberry and not overpowering. We started with Calamari and it was delicious the chopped hot peppers are the perfect amount of spice. They put the sauce on the bottom of the plate so you have plenty of it! I had the pastrami smoked salmon Ruben. I'm a sucker for a Ruben and this one was so unique and flavorful. We had gone to Lily's many times when it was new and we lived nearby. Hadn't been there for years and decided to celebrate my wife's birthday there. We had a great time. Our server Jen was great. Okay. Bottom line is the food here is bad. The cocktail I ordered (there are multiple cocktail menus for some reason but nothing was very appealing?) was cloyingly sweet and didn't taste like there was much alcohol at all, and it was mostly ice. The spinach artichoke dip was gross. Like, tasted cardboardy and bland and the chips tasted like they were fried in oil that had spoiled. I don't know how you mess up dip that is primarily baked cheese (inherently delicious!) but it was so bad we only ate maybe a quarter of it out of a sense of duty to waste less. My shrimp and scallops scampi dish was...not scampi? The seafood is swimming in an odd cream sauce with bell peppers in it. Nothing really provided to soak up the sauce with, not that I wanted to. The vegetable side was mushy and bland. The potatoes were the most edible thing on the plate. The only reason for two stars was because our server was very nice and hustling with how busy it was. She understood we had a show to get to and was very accommodating. I was very disappointed with the quality of food here for the price we paid -- way too much. I would not go back again. read more

My coworker and I wanted to enjoy this beautiful weather for lunch and found ourselves on Lily's Seafood patio. We lunch quite often all around RO, Ferndale, Clawson and Berkley (we work at 4th st/woodward) and decided this was one of the best lunches we have had. I had the sesame crusted chicken salad and my coworker had the blackened shrimp burger on special - both outstanding! I wish I remembered our severs name because he was great (super friendly and fast), the patio setting was perfect mix of sun and shade, and the food was so fresh and delicious- we will definitely be returning ASAP. Lily's Signature Seared Sesame Tuna is the bomb dot com!!! My husband and I discovered this gem one year ago and we never stray away from ordering the seared sesame tuna cooked rare. They offer other types of cooks as well but we always prefer rare for the most tender and juicy taste. Since last year, they changed the coating of the tuna, which is now breaded and crunchy with a light coat of sesame seeds and drizzled with a delicious sauce similar to teriyaki. It is served on a generous bed of rice and cooked vegetables. We love this dish so much and always leave feeling completely stuffed! We also really enjoy their calamari as an appetizer. It is crispy with a tasty spicy aoli sauce and bed of banana peppers. The service here is typically fast. We are usually in and out within 1 to 1.5 hours on a busy Friday night. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. We love the fish tank room decors and ambiance in the restaurant. It feels like we are eating by the sea! There is paid street parking available close by. Currently, street parking in this area requires your car to be backed into the parking spot. CAFEFUL IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLEGIES AND TELL THE STAFF. After explaining to our waiter I was allergic to rae onions we discussed a few different dishes that hexassured me the onions would not be put on. I inquired about the Merchant Fish Sandwich which he said had 'NO" onion on. I asked what the pepperoncini relish was on the sandwich and was told by the waiter it was tartar sauce. I stated again that i was allergic to raw onion and that I am accustomed to tartar sauce being made with pickles and NOT onions. Again, this is after I had already told him twice I was allergic to raw onions and he assured me the tartar sauce was not with onions. After eating half the sandwich I became violently sick. Thankfully. I had my medication and managed to stop a full reaction but it ruin my night as we were going to a concert. I was sick the rest of the night and the next three days. After emailing Lilly's of the situation and requesting they train the wait staff better on food allergies..it was CRICKETS! No response, no sorry we will do better or even an inquiry on how I was doing I guess Lilly's in NOT concerned about food allegies, training their staff to the issur or the over all Welfare of their customer! read more

This time I ordered the New York Strip that was running as a special. It was tender, flavorful and beyond delicious. Also we had the fried pickle spears. Amazing! Went to Lily's for lunch in July, they opened the doors promptly @11 It was raining but their very nice outdoor seating has umbrella's and they said they would service us regardless of if we chose to dine there. Sat indoors instead, they have nice high top tables charming booths. They also have intriguing fish aquariums at the back of the restaurant. Started with the Painkiller cocktail, it taste like Bailey's of which I love! Had the Clam Chowder (bowl), it was chunky and very tasty. Second round of in person dining is in effect and what does Lilys do? They set up a tent to accommodate outdoor dining and I am here for it! Tables in the tent are spaced at least 6 ft apart according to social distancing guidelines. Servers all wear masks while also delivering attentive and friendly service. I could see our server's authentic bright smile beaming through her mask as she took care of us. The food and drinks are good. The menu is expansive, especially since many restaurants have limited menus during the covid pandemic. I've been here a few times, pre-covid & post-covid. My most recent experience was nice. Lily's has set up a tent by expanding into the street (thank you Royal Oak), so you can dine outside and feel safe. The food was great, you don't have to be a seafood lover to come here. My bf doesn't eat fish at all but the menu has enough other options to make him happy, which makes me happy because I DO want fish! The prices are also reasonable - not diner prices, but not steak house prices either. The tent has sides on the road side which helps with breezes but also means you don't have to look at cars zooming by. The wait staff all wore masks, the tables were approprately spread out.
