I used to come here quite often, despite the long wait and most of the barbers ignoring me and letting "the homies" skip the line. However, that's just not acceptable. What does it take to get a haircut in this town? This is the third stop of the day. The first place was dirty and smelled like weed. The second place said it would be a half hour as a walk-in, but it was going to be much longer given there was one working and one ahead after waiting quite a while. This brings me to Fern'z. Long time residents will remember when this was a pet store. There is no parking in front, so you have to park in the dirt lot up the street where Sterns Market used to be. I am African American and it is extremely hard to find a barber that understands how to cut our type of texture hair. They are kind to everyone that walks in the door. My husband took my son here today and the gentleman were so kind, treated my toddler very nicely and his haircut is awesome! The fade was clean and precise. My husband was impressed, feels comfortable there and basically loves it there! Other shops have not been so kind and didn't want to cut "black hair" but not this one. Well it's been a month since I was back and the young man that cut my hair was Alan once again which he did an outstanding job as I was sitting and waiting to get my haircut I noticed the vending machines were still inoperative it'd be kind of nice to have a cold drink waiting to get my haircut and also I'm kind of curious do they give military veterans and First Responders discounted haircuts. The guys are cool and the place is kid friendly. They do a good job cutting hair but it does get busy on the weekends.

I came in with my 2 kids ages 9 and 3 at 3:15pm on a Saturday. As soon as we walked in we were stopped with the stylist waving their hands in the air saying "No, No , No". I said, No what? They explained no more customers right now, we've been here since 7am-just like you work, we work." I said, "you close at 4 right? Shouldn't you stop ppl from coming in 10-15min before you close not 1 hour before you close?" The Stylist that looked the most heated because my kids and I walked in responded with "We'll think about it bro-we'll think about it." I was pretty shocked that they don't enjoy what they do enough to take 2 toddlers 45min-1hr before they close. Last time I tipped the guys that cut my kids hair was $10 each.
