Talk about a local icon! This little restaurant is tucked inside of an old building on the corner in the historic district in downtown Hopkinsville KY! All the locals know Ferrells hamburgers! Made to order and oh so good! Grab a bag of chips or cup of chili to go or sit right there at the lunch counter. The staff is always so nice and the food is fresh hot and fast! Best burger around!

A total of 7bar stools in the picture and like 4-5more in the supply room/secondary bar area.

If you're looking for that old school diner appeal, THIS IS YOUR SPOT. They've been there since 1936, so it's genuine, not something that's cheap and replicated and they're trying to make it that way. If you've read some other reviews and they talk about the chili, believe it. Their chili bowl is outstanding! Me and my wife split a bowl because I was worried it was one of those chili types where they put green peppers and tons of onions in, which I do not do. However to my delight, there were barely any peppers or onions! Woohoo! Also, like other reviews have mentioned, they don't have French fries here, so keep that n mind. Honestly conflicted about this-on one hand I don't care because I don't eat all my fries anyways n the other hand, I like them more than a bag of chips. Cost was exactly what I'm looking for! $19.29 for 2double cheeseburgers, bowl of chili, one sweet tea, one water. Also, yes, it is the smallest restaurant I've ever been in-not necessarily a bad thing...unless you traveled a little out of the way thinking differently? I do highly recommend this place, but keep in mind it might be a better strategy to call in a take out order and eat it elsewhere. Just a thought. Bottom line, they will be getting repeat business from this guy.

Ferrell's is a Hoptown staple and this is their best and original location. Ferrell's has been around forever, thriving on a simple menu and charmingly greasy grill. Don't expect ambience outside of that of an old Southern diner -bright lights and straight forward service. While I didn't grow up in Hoptown, my mom did in the 50s, so I've been eating Ferrell's my entire life. My mom would buy in bulk, freeze them, and bring them back to FL. Ferrell's is like a visiting a historical, nostalgic landmark where you can get the same great burger you always could. Burgers are cheap and delicious. They are thin patties - think about the size of a McDonald's burger. I recommend it with everything. You may need a few burgers to be full. Know that if you order your burger with cheese, the upcharge makes each burger quite a bit more.

This a historic hole in the wall hamburger joint. The menu is burgers, a few other sandwiches, chips, soft drinks, and basic breakfast items. The place is tiny but vintage. It is lunchtime on a Saturday and one person is working the grill and another taking orders, making drinks, and doing everything else. A bar with 7 stools faces the food prep area which features a shiny stainless steel back wall, vintage neon clock and neon trim at the ceiling. The place has a definite dive feel. Service is definitely not "fast food" because of the limited staff and no obvious sense of urgency. Not a smile was seen from either of the two staff members. I got a double hamburger with mayonnaise. They did not have lettuce or tomato. The patties are small and a double is probably equivalent to a regular quarter pound hamburger. The burger was actually quite good. They smash a ball hamburger by hand on the grill and the edges get a little frayed and crispy. The whole thing was really quite delicious. I give the place three stars, not because of the quality of the burger, but because of the slow service and unfriendly attitude of the staff.

Cute little burger joint, the absolute tiny scale just makes it seem so much more cute knowing they have held their place in a small town. The burgers were pretty good, super fresh veggies on top and crisp bacon. The prices were very reasonable as well.

I got some mayo...and an eye roll and fussed at, because I can't just eat mustard like everyone else.

Ferrell's burgers taste the same today as they did 20 years ago. The product they put out has always been consistent every time I've ordered. It's delicious. The place stays packed and lined out the door. The diner doesn't look like it's been cleaned in the last 20 years. The door you have to enter looks nasty, the floor and barstools are absolutely disgusting, and the employees didn't look very clean either. The grill cook actually yelled and huffed at me because SHE put mustard on my burger and I wouldn't eat it, because I'd ordered it no mustard, add mayo instead. I can't remember if their burgers have always come with two tops or if the grill lady just slapped mine together however she could, but two tops were yummy The two waitresses were friendly. I'm sure their day would be easier if someone with a little more pleasant of a demeanor worked the grill. Did I mention that the entire place is about the size of a laundry room? You can literally hear the person at the other end of the counter chewing.

This was my first time going to an authentic burger mom and pop shop kind of place. The cheeseburger was good and the ambience was the best. It was a delight talking to the people that worked there and made the cheeseburgers. Ms. Jonelle has worked there for a long time. She told us how the non whites had to go to the back to get cheeseburgers during the time of segregation. A definite go see place in Hopkinsville.

Best burgers I've ever had. It's worth the trip no matter where you are from. Sweet older lady really knows how to cook on the grill. Get any burger, it will be worth it. My first was the double cheese and second was the single. Also shared the chili cheese hotdog which was great also.

    Classic Ferrell's burger to go!

Well, I saw this place on Yelp this morning and it says that don't open until 11:00 am (That's…read morewrong they are open every day for breakfast except Saturday and they are closed on Saturday) anyway the two reviews were off the hook so... I decided to take my wife to dinner and man they reviewers were NOT wrong. This place is off the hook good home cooked food. I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes with red gravy, green beans and a yeast roll and everything was delicious! The meatloaf was cut it with a fork tender and hot. The mashed potatoes were homemade and the gravy ... Oh my goodness... it was so good. Anyway, we will be back for breakfast and dinner for sure! You gotta try this place !!!

I have only eaten here 2 times. This place is a little hard to find, but it's in the same strip…read moremall with Harbor Freight Tools. Look for the Harbor Freight sign and turn in...you WON'T be sorry! This is a "Meat & 3" like they USED to be! The first time I ate here was a couple of weeks ago (May 2025) on a Sunday. There were several people in the place and I'm kind of deaf, so when the lady said they had "greens" I figured turnip greens...I didn't hear her say "Collard Greens"...just greens...but I'll come back to that. I had Chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, those greens, a yeast roll, and a bottle of Pepsi. All of their drinks are in bottles in a cooler and you pick what you want. They have a steam table line and you pick what you want and they plate it up on a tray in a styrofoam 3-compartment plate, and then you pay and pick your own seat. And then you eat...or TRY to eat all of it! The plate looked like a plate at a family reunion for somebody that didn't plan to go back for seconds...I mean it looked like 2nds were already on the plate! You know what I mean! She gave me TWO large pieces of steak, a huge mound of potatoes, and those greens....and enough gravy! Wasn't stingy with the gravy! That little styrofoam plate was real glad it had a plastic tray under it! No way the plate would have held up to this meal without it! The steak was tender enough that I didn't need a knife! Perfectly seasoned, just about the best I've ever had in ANY restaurant! The mashed potatoes were homemade with a few tiny lumps just like they're supposed to be when they DIDN'T come out of a box! Yummy!! Now about those Collard greens: I saved this part because......I DON'T LIKE COLLARD GREENS! I never have EVER! I like turnip, mustard, and even kale greens...but I've NEVER eaten ANY collard greens that tasted good enough to take a 2nd bite...EVER! That has all changed now... I figured that I'd paid for them so might as well give 'em a taste before I threw them out like I always do..... But I didn't throw them out! The collard greens were delicious! Silky, seasoned perfectly, a little smoked meat flavor it there, and a touch of hot pepper. Not enough to burn...just enough to know it's there and take the bitter edge off of the greens. AMAZING!! I would have ordered 2nds of the greens if I'd had an inch of room left to eat them! Find this place... Pray they have the collard greens the day you're eating... You'll thank me later!
