As I was in Hopkinsville, I had to check out the local BBQ scene. Even though it closes early, the Bar B Que Shack was the most highly rated option around...and it deserves it! First of all, service was outstanding! I was in a hurry so I called ahead. They took my order and put it in the moment I pulled up. My food came out within 5 minutes. Second, I had enough of my plate to feed 3 people! No stinginess here! And most importantly, it was elite BBQ! The ribs we're meaty and tender, The brisket was thick and easy to chew. The pulled pork was seasoned extremely well and had a smoky taste to ir right out of the smoker. There are 2 sauces - a mild that tastes like a vinegary/sweet ketchup and a hot that tastes a lot like a good mix of BBQ and hot sauce. The cornbread is made like pancakes. The potato salad was creamy and a good mix of mustard and mayo. It was good enough to order by itself. The mac and cheese was too runny for me. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! I've been there three times. Twice through the drive up and once dining in. The first time through the drive up I ordered the ribs with green beans, mac & cheese and a roll. The next time through the drive up, I ordered the pulled pork with green beans and mac & cheese and cornbread pancakes. And the third time dining I ordered smoked baloney with mac & cheese, green beans and the cornbread pancakes. Everything was delicious. I'm not kidding absolutely everything was wonderful. And get a lot of bang for your buck people are very friendly. The decor is decorated in pigs, which is totally cute. After many years of eating here, I am through!!!! Pulled pork was tough and dry. The white beans were not completely cooked. Some were crunchy. Can't stand undercooked beans!!! The slaw was decent. Had a peach cobbler for dessert, there was a tiny bit of peach and a whole lot of dough. Tasted good, but would have been more moist and much better with some fruit in it.
