It was so hot today, and my husband and I decided to give this place a try. The workers were very nice and very smiley even though I don't know any Italian. I ordered the Trifle flavored gelato, it was fantastic (tasted like buttered rum), and mu husband got the mojito gelato. It was very refreshing. As we settle in and shovel the gelato in our mouths, this loud mouthed jerk starts flipping out on the nice lady that served us. He got a cone with chocolate and vanilla and was pissed that his two scoops weren't identical in size. He was screaming at them, in English. I was waiting for him to toss the cone in her face. He was pouting and explosive. I'd hate to see how he acts over big life issues. He was screaming at th about how he was going to leave a bad review. I'm not even sure they knew what the heck he was saying, so I'm here to leave a glowing review. This place was great. We literally got a cone with three scoops of gelato ate it and came right back in for another one for two more scoops. The lady working just looked at us and laughed haha it's that good. Pretty good gelato and cheap. They have so many flavors to choose from and there's ample seating. It's located right at the beginning of one of the alleyways off the shopping streets. The best mango gelato I've ever had. It's also recommended by Andrew Zimmern of the food Network so that should be enough said. But because we Elites need to write like Yelp Elites here it goes... Unlike most gelato places, the staff only let you try ONE flavor. I know what you're thinking "absolutely absurd" which it is but I guess they must have lots of people try and not buy. Otherwise I don't really understand a true reasoning for doing this. I mean they have three cases of gelato and only let you try one? What if I don't like the one and don't trust to like another to buy? Well I guess they aren't concerned about that and luckily for me the flavor I tried I loved so I bought it. I got the mango which was divine. It was the most true mango gelato I've ever had and I could've had three of them. I didn't for sake of my waistline but I could've. This shop also sells bottled drinks which is nice and the water was only 1 euro. Great for tourists and thirsty locals alike. I would have to say this place is definitely disappointing. Pros: It's open late, so that's convenient. Tons of flavors available. Cheap (2 euro for a small cone). Con: The gelato is honestly fairly gross; very intensely sweet and artificial tasting. No tasting beforehand. Not that they HAD to do this, but it was clear I didn't like my gelato and the guy working there blank-faced us and wouldn't allow us to get a different flavor. So we threw out the cone and moved on. My family and I went here the most during our stay because my father had to get his watermelon gelato fill on the daily. Our tour guide recommended this place to us, so we figured it had to be good. I am lactose intolerant, and I was glad they had dairy-free options for me ("sensa latte"). I for the dairy-free chocolate and a hazelnut made with rice milk. The chocolate was like cold ganache, super rich and delicious. The hazelnut was made with rice milk, and I don't know what else to say about it other than you could totally tell it was made with rice milk. A good place for a wide variety of Gelato, but not the best given some of the flavours taste a bit artificial (mint and Lemon sorbet). i would recommend trying the profiterole flavour (whole profiteroles in it so its delicious!) or the snickers flavour- it has a great crunch with fresh peanuts.
