We stayed in the penthouse with the jacuzzi at Hotel Festival Plaza in Playas de Rosarito, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The positives first: the ocean views are absolutely amazing and easily the best part of the stay. Everything else fell far short of expectations. The room had no coffee maker or refrigerator, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the room was dirty, and the curtains were broken. The elevator was out of service, which made getting to the penthouse difficult. There was no air conditioning, and throughout the night there was a constant loud engine or mechanical noise somewhere in the building that made it very hard to sleep. Another annoyance was the mandatory red wristband that guests are required to wear 24/7. If you lose it, you're charged a fee. It felt more like we were attending a Las Vegas party than staying at a hotel where we should be able to relax. The incredible ocean view is the only reason this isn't a one-star experience. Unless major improvements are made to the cleanliness, maintenance, comfort, and guest experience, I would not stay here again. read more

I stayed at Hotel Festival Plaza in Rosarito for my birthday getaway, and while we still managed to make wonderful memories together, this hotel definitely had its pros and cons. The biggest advantage is the location. It's right in the heart of Rosarito, within walking distance of the strip, restaurants, bars, shopping, and the beach. We rarely had to use our car, which was incredibly convenient. The hotel also offers reserved parking with a security guard, which gave us peace of mind. However, the parking lot is extremely small, and once we found a spot, we were hesitant to leave because we weren't sure we'd find another one. Now for the downsides. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation, this is probably not the hotel for you. Music was blasting all day and all night long. Even with the sliding door completely closed, the noise was impossible to block out. Since there is no air conditioning--only two very old ceiling fans--the room became hot, humid, and musty whenever we tried to keep the noise out. We stayed in the penthouse with the indoor jacuzzi tub, which was a nice feature, but the room was still extremely humid. The only way to cool it down was by opening both the sliding glass door and the front door to create a cross breeze. Thankfully, the ocean breeze helped a little, but it wasn't enough. In the end, we actually checked out a day early because we simply couldn't take the constant loud music and unbearable heat any longer. Another thing to be aware of is that the standard rooms do not include a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, or air conditioning. From what we were told, only the casitas offer those amenities, so keep that in mind when booking your stay. Unfortunately, the cleanliness was disappointing. The floors were very dusty, and my husband's socks ended up covered in long blonde and red hairs--even though I have black hair. We laughed about it, and I joked that he must have had quite the night while I was sleeping. Sometimes humor is the only way to deal with situations like that. The curtains were also broken. The curtain rod kept falling down, so we had to get creative and use one of my hair ties and a water bottle just to keep the curtains from blowing all over the room whenever the breeze came through. The bed felt like sleeping on a rock, and the pillows flattened the moment you laid your head on them, making it difficult to get comfortable. To top it off, the elevator was broken during our stay. The one thing this hotel absolutely got right was the view. The ocean view from our room was breathtaking and easily the highlight of our stay. Overall, I would only recommend Hotel Festival Plaza if your top priority is being in the center of all the nightlife and you don't mind loud music, basic accommodations, and several maintenance issues. If you're looking for peace, comfort, and a relaxing getaway, I would recommend staying somewhere else. read more

This place is located directly next to all the bars. Very convenient to walk . However, you will not have peace and quiet. The place has paper thin walls and the music is blaring until the crack of dawn. I'm a light sleeper so it was not a 5 star location. They do have available parking with security guards, making sure your vehicles are not vandalized and the staff is very friendly and the spas inside are amazing. The only downside is you cannot have any rest so if you're looking for a place to spend a calm and relaxing weekend unfortunately this is not the place to go. However, if you don't mind be loud blaring music 24 hours a day and this is the place for you. read more

So many bad experiences at this hotel ! We got here at 2:45pm on a Thursday. No customer at the line at the time we got there. We tried to check in ,but the staff told us to wait until 3pm since that is the time we can check in. So 3pm came and she started to proceed to check us in, and it took her 50 minutes to process the "paperwork". When we booked the hotel on their direct website, they charged us $50 booking deposit, but the staff was adamant that they did not charge us and we were due the full amount at check in time. We showed her the transaction on our bank where the hotel charged us , but she still denied it. Our 2 small kids were tired and wanted to have a room to lie down, so we didn't want to argue about that and will call our bank to contest our that charge later. The staff charged us $100 separate from our balance for deposit. And warned us the wristband would cost us $20 to replace if we loose it. She then wanted to charge us $20 for parking for 4 nights of staying there (yes, they charge their guests for parking too). But I looked it up online and it said $5/night for Friday and Saturday and free from Sunday- Thursday. I showed her that and she was settled to charge us $10 instead. When we came in the room, it smelled musky and the bedsheets didn't smell clean. We had eek feelings when we stayed here. Our trip was from Thursday to Monday. Thursday we had a decent night of sleep, but Friday and Saturday the music from nearby bars was so loud and up till 4 am the music was playing loudly and continuously. The hotel doesn't have sound proof where we can hear every noise even from the next room or the room on top of us. Friday and Saturday nights we could not sleep due to the loud music. For parking, on Friday and Saturday when we took our car out and came back, we couldn't even find any parking space. The staff finally made a room for our car sandwiched in between other cars that we couldn't even open the door to get out. And those 2 days we had to pay for parking fees. The water ran hot and cold madly on its own. I took a warm shower supposedly, but 1 minute it turned so cold, and the next minute it turned so hot that burned my body. I was afraid of burning my kids, so I had them taking cold shower the whole stay. Checking out is even worse of the experiences. We checked out on Monday morning so no guest in the line . The staff proceeded our check out paperwork. We waited 40 minutes and it wasn't done. I asked her why It took so long, she said they had to check the room to make sure nothing is missing or damaged . Hello, they have our credit card on their record system and $100 deposit, and they still took 40 mins to scan the room!? I started to pressure her to speed up the process since we had to leave, then she said she could not process if the person check the room is not done yet. Another 10 minutes went by, she said ok the room is clear and good and she processed to refund our $100 deposit . Yet the receipt said they would keep 1 cent and will refund us $99.99 after 10-15 business day. Wtf!!! It took them 1 minute to take our money, but 10-15 days to give us back the money, yet not $100 rather $99.99!? Who give them that right to steal 1 cent from guests!? But I will bring this up to our bank and will get a full $100 back. We regret we wanted to try this hotel out. Such a horrible experiences, from the check-in time to the check out. So horrible! Don't stay at this hotel if you really want to enjoy your vacation. The bad experiences at this hotel partially took away the enjoyment of our getaway. read more

NEW YEARS EVE GALA REVIEW-2024 (Only) I purchased my ticket for this event because the Rosarito Hotel event was sold out. Bummer. Yet, Hotel Festival Plaza was quite the elegant and fun filled night. The decor was beautiful. The seating space was comfortable, and everyone was chill but vivacious. We took pics galore against the backdrop and 360° photo booth. And there was a makeshift bar with plentiful choices I was impressed with the d.j. The first part of the evening he played popular R&B which was remakes into jazz. Afterwards was salsa and current Mexican jams. The four course meal included a complimentary choice beverage, an apple pecan mixed green salad, asparagus cream soup, filet mignon with veggie sides and a grape custard cake. I would rate the meal a 3.7/5. To top off the evening we celebrated with the 12 grapes tradition and champagne. For $100 I would do it again ONLY if they fixed the REAL start time. MY GRIPE IS ONLY ONE. The event was supposed to start at 8:00 PM with the first plate and it started at 10 PM. It makes absolutely no sense to have guests eat that late. We just went here over the Labor Day weekend. We awoke Sunday at 3:30 am to the smell of smoke. I couldn't get fresh air and was wondering why. No alarms ever went off. This place says that it has smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. There is nothing in the room. There was a fire in the room below ours. Smoke was billowing into the room from the back. Once we opened the front door it was apparent that it wasn't in control. We acted fast and got out of there. Once we took the stairs down to the lobby there was only one other family that left when we did. It was very concerning that there was no warning sounds even when the fire department came out to fight the fire. When we went out to catch a cab we could see the flames in doorway of the room. We headed home. Wasn't the best way to enjoy a holiday weekend. We have been here before but, we had no idea that there weren't safety features set up. read more

Dirty carpet, dirty restroom, something that looks like poop smeared on the cover from the bed.. I would not recommend this place. Never going back. Oh and if your trying to sleep. It's an ok hotel. The service was amazing. But even though I reserved the "renovated" rooms with an ocean view, the rooms need much more renovation. The ocean view was nice. There is no A/C which you don't always need. Only one elevator was working and it takes a while to get it. One major thing that almost made me cut my trip short was how loud the music is! And it does not stop until 4am it does not matter what day of the week it is. Even if you close the windows you can hear super loud so I would recommend taking some ear plugs if you plan on staying here. The Patio restaurant is ok, you can only get certain items on the menu but is it fine you just pay for the other things not included with the hotel ticket. DO NOT STAY HERE, The noise level is unbearable, and the rooms are far from clean. We stayed for less than 24 hours, yet during checkout, they falsely accused us of breaking a painting. I strongly recommend taking a video of the room upon arrival because they will look for any excuse to scam you. Festival plaza is a reasonable place to stay in rosarito. You will find looking for a 5 star room just isn't going to happen in the location your at. The rooms are dated and musty. It's next to the clubs so be prepared for late night music. Parking is limited but available. Great location close to all the bars and clubs for safety. They have someone at the door at all times and give you a wristband. If your looking for a safe reasonable place it's probably the best location but you will pay more. read more

We had a great stay here for spring break 2019. Penthouse suite has a great view of the ocean and papas and beer. Huge spa tub in the room pretty much on the balcony. There's a microwave and fridge in the room and two closet spaces with hangers for clothes. Parking is free. Literally great price and room the low price it's right in the middle of all the action. Only draw back is no guests and no glass bottles. It would have been difficult getting the stripper we wanted up to the room. Only allowed if you have your wristband. read more

Worst experience I have EVER had!! Rooms are hot and muggy and don't have AC. Window has to be kept open to get some fresh air. The pool was out of service and no one bothered to let us know. Kids were out of a pool all weekend. Upon check out they check the rooms. They were trying to charge me $55 for towels that I used and got make up on them. They said I had ruined them and they had to "special wash them " What ever that means. Got away with paying $25. I have never in my life had to pay for dirty or stained towels! My husband and I stayed here for a Raider Event at Boom Boom and yes the hotel is older and the rooms are very simple the bed was firm and the bedding was nice and had a little weight to them to keep you warm. BUT....the amazing view of the ocean and clubs from our room were a plus. The fact that there was no AC wasn't a problem for us. We turned on the ceiling fan and/or opened the window and the cool air came through. At night it was very cool and we had no need for AC. The rooms could use an update but we had a great time together anyway. read more

We were treated very well and appreciated the ample security. We also liked the breakfast at El Patio. This hotel is very pleasant. The pool area has an interesting layout, some odd sized stairs, be careful, and an interesting suspension bridge. It may go to the back street or more rooms. Pros- killer view, good food, location location, lots do do within 10 minutes, good condition and no water issues for me, toilets flush, no smells, adequate hot water, secure parking, mandatory valet professional staff. Cons- Noisy af, bring your ear plugs, and no AC, so hot times of year might not be so great. read more

The only good thing about this hotel is the bed. The hotel is outdated and feels cheap. The staff is rude and don't care at all about customer service. I had to go up and down the elevator twice because my key didn't work it wasn't until the second time that I asked if it didn't work that they told me it deactivates if you leave the premises. No AC in any room, they charge $100 as a deposit. No hotel does that. And they charge 5 dollars per night to park your car. I will never recommend this place or stay here again. read more

We didn't do our research and came to realize that we don't have A.C./heater and restroom doesn't have a fan. The room looks crispy clean and the view is gorgeous. It is centrally located to bars and restaurants. Service was great when we requested a portable fan. The hotel is outdated but descent enough to enjoy the weekend with friends. read more

They gave us 3 rooms total in the casitas and all of them were dirty. None of them met the COVID-19 cleaning. We even gave them the opportunity to clean them and nothing never coming back. Staff was rude and very unprofessional. Plus they lied they told us leave your stuff when you come back from dinner we'll have it all ready for you LIES. The room we got was a complete disaster, the minute we open the door the smell of mold was the first thing we noticed, there's no AC and just a ceiling fan. The beds are extremely old dirty and they smell, we checked out and canceled our stay as fast as we checked in. The room itself was pretty clean and spacious but it was so loud due to the vicinity of the clubs. I think they should invest in soundproof windows. If you're looking to party, this is a great place. You're walking distance to all entertainment and shopping. Looking for luxury? This isn't the place that'll blow your mind, although this hotel met all COVID-19 measures. Our two rooms were clean. Bathrooms had all necessities. Extra towels were brought up instantly when asked. Ask for Carlos at the pool if you want great and prompt service. He had great recommendations and went above and beyond to provide awesome service. Genesis and Diana at the front desk are super friendly, patient and helpful. They made check-in a great experience. Management, we hope to see them next time when we return :) read more

Worst place i have ever overpaid to stay in. The room we were assigned was an awful depressed avocado color with a touch of lime. It smelled of murder. The receptionist, not the nice one but the other pictured here, acted as if she didn't speak English and began speaking English to someone else as soon as she thought i was out of earshot. It's a very busy location... tons to do out of the room but when you lay your head down... you'd only sleep with one eye open. read more

I would give this place a negative star if I could. The lobby looks nice but that's literally it. They should've cut from the art budget and fixed the elevators. Exposed wiring, broken cameras and I thought it was a prop for a haunted house because the elevator shakes really bad and the lights flickers off and on. So the stairs it was. The room had no ac and the temperature was 104 degrees. We literally baked for an hour and a half until golden brown. We went to the beach and came back after sundown and it was still unbearable in our room so we asked for ice to enjoy a cool drink. They brought up a bag of opened used ice. Yuck! So forget it we walked across the street to Oxxo and got our own. We came back and decided to go for a swim in the pool, another mistake. The pool was filthy and had black plastic bags floating around in it. I've watched enough true crime shows to know better. So we headed for one of the two jacuzzis. Not one but BOTH had dirt rings, no working timers and were Ice cold!!! By then we gave up and went back to the room to drink and watch movies. WRONG! The tv didn't work and when we called maintenance they said they only had one channel which was HGTV- like. After watching a middle class couple convert a lovely cottage space we completely abandoned our hopes for a fun night in Rosarito and went to bed by midnight. No bed bugs though, so we had that going for us. read more

Right in there middle of the party scene. If your trying to have a good night sleeps then this isn't the hotel for you as it's loud at night. You can hear the music coming from the clubs/bar and on occasion fireworks. It's walking distance to everything. The beach, the bars, the clubs, the shops and restaurants. It has valet parking at $5/day you literally walk everywhere there's no need to use your car in the crazy traffic (unless you want to head out to Puerto Nuevo) for the Langostas (lobsters) the hotel itself from the exterior looks run down. The lobby is very clean, security posted at the door checking no outsiders go in (they give you a bracelet upon check in) they have a swimming pool, free WiFi oh and the lobby restroom was very clean. As for the rooms... I can only speak for room 413 which is where we stayed. Has a double queen bed. With 1980s bedsheets. It appears clean. The bathroom too was clean. Their is no AC but it does have a ceiling fan and you can open the large window that faces the ocean side. Again it's very loud at night.
