A hidden gem for fair pricing, patient service, and knowledgeable key cutting!…read more After searching around Ventura County for someone I could trust, I visited Franklin's Ace Hardware at 7838 Telegraph Road in Ventura to have two customer-supplied aftermarket key blanks cut for my 2011 Toyota RAV4 Sport V6. Jerry and another helpful gentleman were honest from the beginning that outside blanks can sometimes be difficult to duplicate and that a perfect result could not be guaranteed. I appreciated their transparency. Rather than immediately cutting both keys, we carefully experimented with the first blank and tested it. Once we confirmed that it worked, I decided to have the second one cut as an additional emergency backup. The second key needed some extra adjustment, but Jerry remained patient and worked on it until it functioned properly. He was kind, careful, knowledgeable, and never made me feel rushed. Both employees provided the type of sincere, hands-on customer service that can be difficult to find. My particular key-cutting service was only $7.99. Franklin's has different pricing tiers depending on the key and the work involved, so not every key will necessarily cost the same. However, their pricing was extremely reasonable compared with the $70-$75 quotes I received from other mobile and storefront key duplicators merely to cut a blank that I already owned. I understand that programmed transponder keys, remotes, and specialized automotive services can cost significantly more. For someone who needs a basic mechanical backup key for emergency access, however, Franklin's Ace provided an honest, sensible, and affordable solution. A spare key may seem like a small thing until someone is locked out of a vehicle. I am very grateful to Jerry and his colleague for taking my concerns seriously and helping me leave with two useful backup keys. I highly recommend this Franklin's Ace Hardware location to customers in Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, and the Naval Base Ventura County area who are looking for friendly, knowledgeable, and fairly priced key-cutting assistance. This store is a true hidden gem, and the staff genuinely lives up to the Ace Hardware promise of being "The Helpful Place."

I always say, "let's go to first and rule them out, [as if that's the case, but it never is, as they always have what we need], & if they don't have it, we can go to the bigger places, but Ace NEVER DISAPPOINTS‼ I say that with great certainty. One time it was a vacuum cleaner belt, (I mean, seriously, this was a longshot, but there it was), another, was a certain paint, this time it was a hot water hose for my washing machine and the Good Lord knows, a mom cannot go without her washing machine for long I mean, the list goes on and on. They even had a variety of lengths. My husband was quick to say, "I knew they wouldn't have the right length...", and THERE it was!!! We also had to get a fixture, for the hose and the employee would not let us leave without testing at first on his own products. The variety is unmatched. I cannot tell you how many times I've been able to just run next-door to my neighbor, Franklin's Ace Hardware, and get what I need. No travel needed. The prices are unbelievable, I always figure they're going to be a little bit more because it's a smaller business, but that is just NOT THE CASE. I am more pleased, every time I'm there. So to break it down, no travel and no wallet, busting. Please neighbors, let's keep this place in business as they are game changers and NEVER let me down Recap; *in the neighborhood, *inventory and variety; unmatched, *employees; knowledgeable, and most importantly, *prices; wallet, friendly!!! Lets go Franklin's Ace Hardware‼

When I originally returned to Ace with the matching problem, Matt's brother repeatedly treated the "Rev" date on my paint label as though it were the date I purchased the paint and characterized the paint as being more than two years old. I have since spoken with Benjamin Moore and learned that the "Rev" date refers to a revision of the paint formula, not the purchase date. My container separately stated that the paint had been mixed on 3/28/25. That distinction matters. When I originally came to the paint counter for additional paint, I brought a photograph of my old paint can and label specifically because I needed paint for touch-ups, and I was told the new paint would match. No one explained that the formula had been revised or asked when my walls had originally been painted. Had I been told, "This formula has changed since your original paint was mixed, so it may not blend properly for touch-ups," I would never have used it throughout my home. The touch-ups did not blend. The differences involved not only color, but also sheen and flashing. I now have to repaint entire walls, corner to corner, wherever the touch-up paint was applied. I have since gone to another local Benjamin Moore retailer for help correcting the problem. They explained that formula changes, sheen differences, flashing, and other variables can create exactly these kinds of touch-up problems. My advice to consumers is simple: **if you are buying paint for touch-ups, do not assume that bringing in the old paint label means the newly mixed paint will match. Ask specifically whether the formula has been revised since your original paint was made, and whether the new paint is appropriate for touching up your existing walls.** What remains most disappointing to me is that this issue was not meaningfully investigated when I returned to the store. Instead, we were repeatedly questioned about whether we had mixed or applied the paint correctly and told the store could not verify that the paint on my wall was actually the paint they had sold me. I have been a customer since 2019. This experience has changed where I will purchase paint in the future.

The city of Santa Paula is beyond lucky to have a hardware store!…read more I think the outside of the store is misleading as it may seem a very small store. But, it's actually quite large inside! I come in here often; have had keys made, bought some yard signs and locks that were needed. And, huge huge shout out to one of their employees a few months ago. Wish I had gotten his name! I came in as my keyfob remote had crapped out. There was a young man who went over and above to try to help me figure out the issue! He came outside to my car with me, had some technical electrical thing that he used to try to help determine if my car was "reading" the fob or not. We even checked a new battery just in case. Come to find out, it didn't need a new battery: my keyfob no longer works in my 15 year old car. :( But big thanks to the employee who helped me *finally determine it was not a battery issue. Staff is pretty good which is so nice to experience. Of course, during the covid, they all have masks on. I didn't notice if they offered sanitizer at the front door, but they do have a "one way door IN and another door OUT", which is per usual at most businesses now it seems. I just recently found out that they carry Ginger Chews. Who would have known!? I would recommend this Ace Hardware and I know that Santa Paula could sure use the support, too.
