Good selection of food on their buffet and all of it was very good. 'Down Home' theme and good service.

Food was cold, and was not that tasty sadly. I was excited for a buffet but this didn't scratch the itch for me.

Fiddle theme is completely cool & I didn't feel over done. Our server was wonderfully friendly and all about the hustle ~ keeping up with some tables and a bus drop off. We opted to try the deviled egg appetizer... it was ok, nothing earth shattering to bring you back & a bit of salt helped. We convinced ourselves to try the buffet ~ although we never get our moneys worth out of the single plate we are able to eat. Chicken, mashed potatoes and carrots were great. The ribs were smoked and no sauce ~ maybe there was some to add and I didn't see them. I got shrimp from the cold salad area & it was way too over cooked. Overall, we would go again, but we would try somewhere else ~ looking for the wow factor. The waitress had it though ~ she was great! read more

On my way to Nashville Tn., my family and I decided to stop in at this restaurant for breakfast, as you walk into Fiddler you're transported back to a place where customer service and politeness is shown just for coming in. My family wanted to try something other than all the franchise restaurants around. It was like the tv show Cheers , everyone knew each other's name. It was very down home with fiddle music playing constantly and an eclectic atmosphere and decor. They have a buffet which was decent enough, the grits could have been cooked another 10 minutes, and some of the bacon and sausage patties were overcooked. However are server Donna was a sweetheart, she made sure we were definitely taken care of. This is definitely where the locals come and they all greeted us as if we were long lost relatives. read more

We were on our way to our daughter's house in Virginia which is an 8 hour drive. We had not packed sandwiches so by Wytheville we were both hungry. My wife had seen a sign for The Fiddler so happy wife happy life came into play. We had a great server who explained our options. We did a tour of the buffet and decided that was a quick and easy choice. We were both surprised at the quality of the food and preparation. We both enjoyed everything that we tried including the cobbler and soft serve ice cream which we did not need but still enjoyed. We've decided that on future trips we'll leave a day early, stop in Wytheville for the night and do dinner at the Fiddler. read more

After hurricane Helene closed parts of I-40, we adjusted our route to and from South Carolina and we discovered Fiddler's on the way. It was conveniently located for us to stop for lunch on a Sunday. The parking lot was full, but we were seated quite promptly. The menu has multiple options, but we opted for the buffet which includes cold, hot, and breakfast items. Arrived for a small breakfast and found a fully stocked buffet. This former Shoney's has been transformed into a warm and so very friendly restaurant. The walls are covered with pictures of the beautiful local mountains. Adorning the entire restaurant are string instruments used in performing Blue Grass Music and the music is actually provided on weekends. The breakfast food and service was very good. I have eaten breakfast here many times and it's good but the lunch is on another level yall! I love chicken livers and it is getting harder to find them. They were seasoned very well and I had a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and it was perfect. I could have eaten my weight in them!! The atmosphere is always great and I love the music. So this restaurant is a nice little hometown kind of vibe restaurant. Seems to be popular with the locals. Very nice staff and is kept clean. I went with a 9 ounce Angus sirloin, hush puppies, and salad. Pretty much standard salad with ranch dressing no surprises here. The steak was very good and cooked correctly at medium. My biggest complaint was that the hush puppies were absolutely lamentable. They were overcooked and lacked flavor. The waitress did recommend the gingerbread cake. So I had to try it of course. It actually was very good. Correct amount of spice and not too sweet. All in all it was a decent experience. I probably will be back if I'm in this area to give it another try . I sure do hope they fix the hushpuppy issue. read more

The bluegrass music being piped in was enjoyable and fit the theme of the restaurant; but we wished it wasn't so loud since it wasn't a live performance. When you first come in, you have a miniature gift shop, and it helps to establish the theme. As you look around, you see violins/fiddles on the walls. The theme lends well to the name of the restaurant, and the light sound of country music helps. The servers were warm and friendly. They were happy to answer questions and assist with whatever you needed. As for the food, Fiddler's possibly has the best Reuben sandwich that I have ever had. However, you really have to be there on a Monday or Tuesday to get the best possible Reuben. I absolutely loved my experience and will most assuredly be making another visit. read more

Stopped there for the first time after reading other reviews. I took a look at the buffet, heard the price ($17.99) and opted for a bacon cheeseburger. Wanting vegetables, my better half went for the buffet. The burger was decent, not great, not bad. It came with crinkle cut fries and a pickle spear. The buffet was disappointing, especially at that price. The greens weren't good and there was no pepper sauce to help them out. This is southern Virginia, pepper sauce should be on the table if you are serving greens. The green beans tasted like they had simply opened a can. The cornbread and potatoes were the best part. The service was decent, and the place was clean, but we will go elsewhere the next time we are in Wytheville. read more

This restaurant is fairly new and my first time trying it. As always, I keep an open mind when trying a new place to eat. The atmosphere is very relaxed and down home country. I tried the buffet and caught it during the transition between breakfast and lunch, so I was able to try both...and both were very good. The service was very good and friendly. The food is home style country food. I highly recommend giving Fiddler's a try. It's located just off the interstate and easy to get to. read more

I felt bad for the server, who had just started her second week at Fiddlers. She was pleasant, helpful and accommodating. I ordered the brisket dinner. The restaurant boasts their brisket is "slow cooked, mouth watering". That isn't what I was served. Half of the serving was obviously reheated to the point of being burnt. The only satisfying part of the meal was the manager removed the cost of the meal when I sent it back to the kitchen. I don't write reviews but couldn't let this one slide. read more

The food was OK . It's pretty bad that a Christian family can't go out to a restaurant on the weekends without having to listen to devils music. We will never go back to fiddler's restaurant again . we know a lot of people and will be telling them how bad the music is and like I said the food was only OK. And for how much money it cost to eat there it's not worth it. So we will be spreading the word . read more

Stopped in for a quick meal since they have a buffet ($15.99). I had the fried chicken, fried fish, mashed potatoes, gravy. The chicken was good and seasoned nicely and not greasy at all with a good crisp. The fish was a little bland but once I added tarter sauce it was good and they also have Cholula and Frank's hot sauce at the table and two bbq sauces. Mashed potatoes were very good but the only gravy was brown gravy. Chicken gravy should be available. I tried a sample of macaroni salad, cole slaw, banana pudding and only the macaroni salad disappointed ..it was bland and needed seasoning or at least dill relish added to give it some life.. I splurged on the extra Ginger Bread Cake ($5.99) and it was yummy. Their coffee($2.49) is good here as well. I will say they sure like their taxes here..5.2% state tax and a whopping 8% "town tax". I hope they have gold toilets in Wytheville... my server was Kelly and she was aces. Very personable and efficient. read more

Walked into to what had a Shoney's vibe. Food was good though some was cold. Didn't get a refill on our coffee until we were done eating. The waitress however, was super friendly. I think it will do well as a new restaurant and I definitely would give it another chance. read more
