Fidel's! Delicious Peruvian chicken that's dripping with flavor and their sides are phenomenal. The yuca, plantains, black beans, and green beans are the perfect accompaniments. They also have a cilantro rice that's good but could use a little more oomph (salt, chicken seasoning, etc). They have your standard yellow and green sauces (both delicious, the green has some heat) and I'm happy to say that the green one no longer tastes like you're chomping into a clove of garlic. There's seating up front if you're ordering to go, which is even easier while using the Uber app. Just place a pickup order and give yourself about 15-20 minutes. The dining area is clean and people are fairly pleasant, so it's perfect for a quick lunch or leisurely dinner. They do not have alcoholic beverages, but do you really need them? There's a house horchata and chicha morada (purple corn drink) that's worth your money. I've been coming since they opened and never once, not a single time, have I been upset with the taste and quality of their food. Bonus points for their staff being super friendly. We ordered takeout for dinner and I would order from here again. I ordered the Ceviche Mixto (~$20; came with a mix of squid, shrimp, and fish). The ceviche was fresh, bright, and acidic. There was a good mix of seafood and generous amounts of red onion. The dish was supposed to come with a side of sweet potato and corn, but they were out of corn and asked if we were okay with them substituting the corn with yucca fries instead (we were fine with that). All entrees came with yellow and green dipping sauces. Both were tasty and great for dipping the yucca fries in. The yucca fries sure were meaty! We also ordered the Grilled Cordero (lamb chops; ~$23) and Carne Asada (skirt steak; $20). Both entrees came with two sides and were also served on a bed of white rice topped with salsa. They didn't ask what temperature we wanted the meat cooked for either of the dishes, but they were both nice and tender and plenty flavorful. The lamb chops were on the tiny side, which would be my only complaint. For sides, we ordered yucca fries, cilantro rice, and plantains. The cilantro rice is more green and spiced than cilantro flavored. The plantains were sweet and crispy. We called and ordered in advance; online ordering is also available. Food was made quickly and our order was accurately packaged. Fidel's is a nice Peruvian option in the Colesville area. read more

The shop at the end of this Plaza has sat vacant for ages, and I was glad to see something move into it. Stopping in, I was even more glad it was this place. There's no shortage of Peruvian chicken restaurants in the area. Heck, there's several within walking distance of this place. It's a tough niche to be in, and it's hard to set a restaurant apart. So, what sets this one apart? One word. Smoke. They're smoking the chicken, which adds tremendous flavour, and is incredibly good. I'm not sure if it's actually smoking, or just if they use a lot more during the grill, but it's delicious. The chicken just fell apart. The sides were awesome. If I had to stretch for some negatives: They could use a soda fountain. Only cans, and they're expensive ($2).... for someone who needs a coke to wash the food down, it isn't great. The sauces were great, and a little different. But. The sauce portions -- especially for a half chicken -- were a little light. But, the food was fantastic. So glad this place is in walking distance from the house. There are a lot of Peruvian chicken places in the area but this one stands apart. The chicken falls off the bone and has incredible flavor. The sauces are also great. I liked both but really enjoyed the yellow one. Sides were the only thing a bit lacking. I wanted rice and beans but unfortunately you have to order two separate sides - one rice and one beans, if you want that as they don't serve them together as many other places do. The fried yuca was very tasty, especially in the sauces. I'm very much looking forward to eating more chicken and trying out some of the other Latin bites! read more

Gem of a find in small strip mall in Silver Spring. Excellent Peruvian charcoal grilled whole chicken with traditional sides - we tried the green beans (solid, fresh, pan sautéed with garlic) and fried rice (very good too, excellent to mix up with the chicken). The chicken was moist, well spiced, the skin could have been a bit more crisp, but this may have to do that I took it home.... Those around here know Pollo Rico, and Fidel's can give them a run for their money. The yellow and green sauces for the chicken were excellent. read more

Well, how nice to see Peruvian Chicken in our immediate area, we need options here in Colesville. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 Star review is, the staff was nor very friendly. Not rude just not real nice. Pulling into the parking lot you can smell the chicken being cooked over real charcoal, it smells great. In the door the restaurant was spacious clean and bright. My order was complete quickly, literally less than 15 minutes at prime dinner hour.You can eat in or take out here, we opted to take out this first visit. I'm sorry that I have no pictures of the food but I had technical difficulties. I ordered three 1/4 chickens (white) with the Cilantro Rice, black beans and plantains. Each order comes with two sides. The Chicken is cooked over real charcoal and seasoned perfectly, we found the chicken to be cooked just right and was very juicy and tender. On April 26 I bought through Uber eats two dishes; in the back of my bill was a note apologizing for not having one of them and stating that the amount will be discounted from my bill. instead of that I was bill twice for the item I never received. I went to the restaurant today and instead of apologizing and helping they told me that it wasn't their problem that I had to deal with uber eats. My husband went to pick up a half-chicken dinner with 2 sides and presented a $2 off coupon on ANY dinner. The owner wouldn't accept it stating it could only be used for the dinner in the pamphlet picture. This is deceptive and poor business practice. Actual rating is about a 4.5 but rounding up. The chicken here is great, I love the fried yucca, and I love both the yellow and green sauces. My husband and I can split a half white with yucca and plantains for a little over $15 and be pretty full (I think hubs grabbed a piece of fruit from our kitchen to top it off but I was plenty full from my half). The plantains are sometimes a little overdone is really my only complaint. We come here a lot, as the food is great and it is hard to find a less expensive complete lunch and it is ready in a couple minutes so great when you don't have a lot of time. Fidel's Peruvian Chicken has opened in the Silver Spring/Cloverly area. It's located on New Hampshire Avenue near Randolph Road across the street from the shopping center where there's a Giant Food Store. It's in a strip shopping area with plenty of parking. We picked up lunch today and everything was delicious! We had the quarter white meat chicken with two sides, chicken tacos, and a quesadilla. For our sides we selected fried yuca and the house salad. Included in our carry-out were 2 spicy green sauces, 2 yellow sauces, salad dressing, sour cream and salsa. Sorry that I don't know the names of all the sauces but Rich declared them the best he's ever had with Peruvian chicken. The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The taco was in a soft shell, the chicken was so plentiful and there was even a slice of avocado on it. The quesadilla was also large and full of chicken. Side salads are often very blah, but this one actually had plenty of tomato and cucumber chunks. The salad dressing tasted like a Green Goddess style to me. The yuca were crisp and not at all greasy. We had so much food we saved most of the quesadilla for lunch tomorrow. The restaurant is roomy, somewhat plainly decorated, but clean and the tables are nicely spaced. Ordering ahead was easy and our meal was well packed and ready when we got there. The staff was friendly. I know I will be craving one of those tacos again very soon. This place needs a welcome sign alongside the road to advocate for its opening! Ample parking and seating space if you decide to eat there (although it seems like most people do take out). The menu is standard for a Peruvian chicken joint and it's one of the first things you see when you walk in. The ordering process seemed to be a bit complicated, but I think it's because of new staff who is still being trained. I hate to write this but given the fact that I gave them 3 chances I had to write about it. The three times I've visited this shop, the food didn't deliver the authentic Peruvian flavor it claim to have. This time around chicken wasn't flavorful at all, the rotisserie chicken at Giant has more flavor honestly. I'm a restaurant operator myself, that's why i wrote that I hate to write this in the first place. I'm giving them the benefit of being a start up but I also have to be honest. You can't run a restaurant sitting in a computer all day, you need lead and be hands on, I'm saying this because every single time I've walked into this establishment I see the gentleman who I think is the owner, just sitting there. The team needs more development when it comes to customer service, the lady that took my order was rusty and aggressive, while the other guy was more attentive. As an owner you need to address these issues from the very beginning otherwise this will reflect on your sales down the road, trust me, I've been there. I wish them the best of luck but management and operations need to be addressed very soon. The chicken, black beans and green beans were awesome. My 8 year old twin grandsons love Sardis but this is much closer to home. The dinner was a hit with them! We always like to try the new places nearby. We had driven past Fidel's for a few weeks now and tonight was the night to give them a try. Walking in the place, I noticed right away that it was very Clean. And they have a nice menu board. The staff was friendly and offered suggestions. There are lots of great choices but their name is Fidel's Peruvian Chicken so that's what I had to try. I ordered a whole chicken with sides. You get to choose two sides with it. I stayed traditional and had Beans and Rice and plantains. I ordered it to go. I got home in about 10 minutes and sat down to eat. I must say, the chicken was very hot. I prefer dark meat because white meat is usually too dry but I decided to try the breast. Wow, it was moist and juicy and very flavorful. They have two types of sauces. Green and yellow. Both were very good and went well with the chicken. The green is spicy and has a nice kick. the yellow is a mustard/mayo type and is also very flavorful. The beans and rice and the plantains were all very good too. I ate so much, I am sitting here stuffed while writing this. It is so nice to have a great Peruvian Chicken place nearby. The most moist and flavorful Peruvian chicken in the area!! The seasoning was great bit a bit salty. Recommendation for the owners: reduce the salt a bit and it will be perfect. We both got 1/4 white meat and yucca and salads as sides (our go to at all Peruvian chicken restaurants). The salad was fresh with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. First time stopping into Fidel's since it opened, which was overdue since I live 5 minutes away. They have a good sized menu with a variety of options, but I for the 1/4 chicken with yuca and mixed greens. The chicken itself was very tender and fell off the bone seamlessly. The flavor was solid but not as charcoaled as I expected. The yuca was pretty amazing, especially dipped in the yellow sauce. I would get yuca again for sure. As for the greens, they were satisfying but they did give you a nice serving of them.
