What a headache and misery it was working with Ben Rafael.We were never on the same page, he was always condescending us yet his quality of work and craftsmanship were lack thereof. He made it seemed like he had been in the business for so long and that he has so much experience but you can tell that was a lie from the quality of work and the sloppiness of the whole project. We are finding things still to this day (3 month later) cracking, coming loose, and things that were never finished or completed to our satisfaction. We could of easily hired people from Home Depot or Lowes to do the same work, that's how awful the quality was. I probably can do a better job than this company. I just used them again on another project last minute for my cousin who needed a new roof before it starts raining and again they were great. They worked fast and the workers cleaned up after the job. One even brought an ashtray for his cigarette butts which was nice since none of us smoke and we don't like butts on the ground around the house. Super cool people and quality work. I recently had both my kitchen and bathroom remodeled by Fidelity General Contractors. From the first time I contacted them (via Angie's List) for a quote, they responded quickly, and were very friendly. The project manager was great. The minute she walked into my kitchen she could envision just what I wanted. (I have a small 1949 kitchen, but couldn't afford to enlarge the house to enlarge the kitchen. I had to work with the space I had.) I needed the project finished by a certain date (since we were going on a vacation for Spring Break) and despite the original project being just the kitchen, they were able to add the bathroom remodel, flooring, earthquake retrofitting, rain gutters, AND painting (the last few jobs were their outside contractors - all prompt and wonderful) and finished them all by my deadline! They were always immediately responsive to my requests to make sure it was just as we wanted. Our project involved a complete kitchen remodel, the removal of a load-bearing wall, the installation of new floors throughout our house, complete electrical rewiring, and numerous other upgrades to our 1950s era house. I purchased a hot tub from Costco for my backyard, expecting that it would be a simple thing to just plug in and fill up. When the hot tub was dropped off at my curb, I quickly realized I was mistaken. This thing needed a level, concrete slab base and a 240 volt electrical outlet with its own breaker. That meant I needed a concrete paver and electrician. Rather than try to find the specialists, I decided to interview general contractors who could get the job done for a flat fee. I found this company on Yelp. Project manager Sam Rafael came to my home and took measurements. We discussed the job and he seemed earnest and confident that he could get the job done quickly. The price was competitive. Not the cheapest bid I got, but fair. I felt comfortable with Sam so I went ahead with him. Sure enough, the job was completed on schedule and with the proper permits from the city. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. They didn't even bother coming to our home and cancelled hours before our appointment. I am just the wife of course. They feel it would be a waste of time just speaking with me as my husband might have something else to say and I might not understand. My wifely little bird brain can't handle such things that pertain to construction and plumbing and other MAN stuff. Other contractors had no problem with it just being me. I also asked that they make an exception as we are only getting bids and I don't want my husband taking time off or both of us wasting our time for something that is a one person job. They still felt that my husband needed to be there. I have now seen 5 contractors and still more to come. They also said that I needed to give them a 2 hour block of time. I've only needed 30 mins max with chitchat with all the other contractors. Just because I work from home doesn't mean I'm not really working. These contractors think that their time is more valuable than potential customers. FYI, we are getting an estimate for doing a whole house remodel. If just coming out to our home for an estimate was this hard, I would assume actually getting really work done would be a major joy and seems others agree. read more

This is now our third time working with Karen and her wonderful group of project foreman's and subs. This time was a complete demolition and remodel of a fairly large Master Bathroom. The previous bathroom was a design disaster - pink tiles, mirrors on all walls, gold trim etc. Karen and her team designed, with our input, and built a modern, beautiful yet not too stiff bathroom. They removed walls, relocated plumbing, sealed up old can lights, installed new can lights, a fan, created an open environment shower and installed a tub with a beautiful tile deck. All of this done with a no problem attitude and a smile on their face! Aside from the quality construction and good attitude, we trust them. She provided us with all the information we asked for and more. She helped us to pick out the most beautiful tiles, faucets, AMAZING marble top for our wet bar, etc. She also spent the time with us starring at the different color paints on the wall to decide on the best color for that specific wall! The best way to describe Karen is that she wanted to make sure everything was right and she didn't stop until it was perfect. If you called her and said you weren't sure about something, she would be on it right then and there.
