We were scheduled from 4:30-6:30pm but ended up staying until just after dusk because it was that good. The back picnic tables made the perfect setup for deep conversations, games, and even s'mores by the grill. A few of us took a walk down to the water and got in plenty of steps--it was totally worth it for the views! I'd love to come back and check out The Salt Shack next time. On a quick walkthrough, I noticed how beautifully it was decorated, and the staff I met were so friendly. Even from the picnic area, we could hear and enjoy the live music, which was such a fun bonus. I was also surprised to see their full volleyball tournament setup--it turns out a friend of mine was even competing that same day! Cedar Beach really has something for everyone, and I can't wait to return.

There is a long path that leads through the Salt Shack (always wanted to eat there but it was way too early to pop in for a meal) and out into the beach. The beach was quiet but the lifeguards were out. We let Bubs run around in the sand before leaving. I did see a bit of garbage on the beach...people please clean up after yourselves. But yes, we love the beaches on LI and we have our favs. This is one of them, but if you're not a resident of the town you will pay a ton to park and for a pass. I think they stop charging after a certain time. But if you want to go for a beach day, it's worth it if you pack the car and go!

I'm not really a NY beach person, per se. I love visiting beaches when on holiday because they are…read moreusually cleaner. However, Lido Beach was a nice surprise. Non-resident cars must pay $50 for parking and non-residents on foot pay $25. Residents pay $10. I believe the upped the non-resident fee significantly which is kind of crazy. I would suggest investing in one of those beach trolleys with the large wheels. It makes life so much easier. Unfortunately, I had one with thin wheels so it was a lot to drag that thing in the sand. We picked a spot not too far from the entrance but it was hell getting there with my cart. I have since returned it for a larger-wheeled cart. The water was very rough. I likely wouldn't return here with my toddler in tow but I wouldn't mind an adult's beach day outing here. The beach is very clean and there is ample space where you don't feel on top of other beach goers. The kids had a great time playing in the sand, making sand catles and running around. The seagulls are very aggressive. They were attacking people's unattended food. One guy had to chase away a pack of seagulls that descended upon some unsuspecting person's goodies. They're brazen and will go through your stuff while you're enjoying the water. After spending time on the beach, we went to the showers to rinse off. The shower water is really cold so be prepared for that. It was nice to see that the bathrooms were still clean after a full day out on the sand. Usually, these places look worse for wear after so many people have been using the facilities all day. I'm just happy that this outing made my daughter enjoy the beach and even the sand. She used to not want to walk in the sand. We had to carry her and place her on her chair or a mat but this day, she stopped being particular about her sensory issues with the sand and gave in, enjoying everything else she could do with it. It was great to see her evolution.

Coming from LA, where beaches are almost always packed this was such a nice change of scenery. The relaxed atmosphere made it easy to just slow down and enjoy my walk .I also loved seeing so many people biking along the boardwalk it definitely inspired me to bring my bike next time it was a simple but memorable experience, and I'm already looking forward to going back.

A random mother begged my wife and I to shade her children as she left the beach temporarily to purchase an umbrella since the rental company ran out. She never returned, she left her children at our umbrella for the entire day. The beach patrol, including SPO Benitez, did not care at all when I notified them. But they did care about giving citations to anyone on the beach, without warning, for having a hard seltzer/ice tea to make money. Go to Robert Moses instead, this beach has stooped very low.

My first (and hopefully not my last) time here at my friends invitation. Very easy to get to off the Loop Parkway and parking was free after 5:30. From my home in Mineola, it was less than a 30 minute drive. This is a great spot to sit back, relax and take in the beauty of the day. The park has basketball courts, a pool and a store for food supplies. This is definitely a relaxing place to bring your kids for the day. I totally understand families who rent the cabanas for the summer. So many people and kids all having a great time. The beach is not a far walk but I opted out of the water for the day. We came there on July 3rd to relax and watch the fireworks show from Town. My friends cabana is perfectly situated so we could sit back and easily watch the show. Very clean here... The staff is constantly cleaning the area and removing garbage (from the pails.) KUDOs to the team at Nickerson Beach.

The roaring, sleep- inducing waves, the hot sand, the swooping, singing birds, the cacophony of beach goers' voices all make for a perfect day. If I had a magic wand, I would have shuttle carts, if you will, that carry ,hourly , beach goers to and from the parking lot. The trek from the parking lot to the water can be brutal if ur carrying all your gear and wearing flip flops. Another reason why, once I'm settled into my spot, I don't move. The bathrooms, and concession stands are way off to the left of the beach. The summer is almost done so I'll be making at least one more visit to my beach before Labor Day.

We had no issues finding parking closest to the walkway that leads to the beach, as it was so early that there weren't many people at the beach yet. The parking lot is very big and accommodates a lot of cars. I would highly recommend coming early to get a good parking spot (we didn't pay a parking fee) since it is a long walk from the parking lot to the actual beach. The pathway that leads from the parking lot is so helpful when you're carrying a cooler and all of your beach essentials and don't have to trek through the actual sand. The beach is beautiful and they have a newly renovated building called The Gatsby that has a restaurant with big windows overlooking the beach. Next time I go, I will make sure to try the restaurant. Behind the beach, is also a big public pool if you don't like the beach or sand. It has a $5 admission fee and has the capacity for about 150 people. A great day at the beach indeed.

While the boardwalk is great for exploring, the real magic happens on the sand. Just laying down, watching the clouds, feeling the breeze and hearing the seagulls, time just slows down at the beach. Jones Beach is actually rather massive! So no matter what field you go to, you're in for a beautiful time. In my opinion, the best time to go is now in the second half of September. You get great weather, without it being scorchingly hot, much less crowds than peak summer, and of course, gorgeous sunsets.

This is probably my favorite field out of all of them at Jones Beach for a few reasons:…read more -Shortest walk to the beach out of all of them -Least crowded (which is still crowded, but because this field isn't accessible via public transportation the way field 4 is it's not as packed) -Cheaper than Tobay if you're not a resident, which would be my pick if price were no object. There are bathrooms with showers situated right at the start of this beach, along with a concession stand selling staple beach eats like chicken fingers and fries, along with some alcoholic drinks and a higher than retail but still not insanely high prices. Folks are generally well behaved here, lifeguards are attentive and the beach is decently clean. If you're new to Jones Beach, this field is a good place to start and will make you feel pretty welcome. Get here early, especially if you're coming on the weekend, because this place fills up!
