In the beginning we were thinking through things as best as we could and Mark offered his advice, but we had a semi-solid idea of what we wanted. As things progressed though, we started rely more and more on Mark's advice. He saw our vision and knew how to get us there. Lesson learned, rely on Mark's advice more, sooner. Be open to his suggestions! Tell him what you are generally trying to accomplish and then let him get you there doing his magic. Mark is honest... In the beginning we wrote a sizable check and even in the middle as we added more and more things, for which we had to pay extra, money was being exchanged, and never did he try to take advantage. He was always fair, upfront, and honest. You don't see that too often in contractors for the quality he delivers. He also went above and beyond many, many times. Here are some keys to success with Mark: - Trust the process, good things come to those who are patient - Work WITH Mark, don't be rigid... the more it's a partnership, the better the outcome will be for everyone - Communicate needs and expectations upfront clearly - Treat Mark like family - that's what he's to us now that we've gone through this process Conclusion: Wow... just wow. Not only did he do our kitchen, he did our garage, our laundry cabinets upstairs, and we had this ugly hallway nook/cave, which he filled with a beautiful floor to ceiling cabinet. All of this was done in 4 weeks (it would have been done sooner had we decided on everything we wanted upfront... we asked him a couple of times... "ohh can you do this and what about that..." Every time, the answer was... you guessed it... "Yes, of course, it's easy.") So now we have a beautiful kitchen, way more usable and functional space, drawers that save me from having to explore cavernous cabinets, and a bright kitchen that's more fitting for the theme we were going for. Over the years, I've worked on multiple remodeling projects both residential and commercial. I've had the pleasure (and mostly displeasure) of working with several contractors. My search for someone I could rely on ended when I found Mark. I have since done many projects with him, including my shops, my wine bar, and most recently my home. His specialty is custom cabinetry although there is not much else he cannot do. His crew is stellar, especially Picasso (painter), Mohamed (designer), Alex (carpenter), Marvin, and Armando. Most of them have been with Mark for more than a decade. I could leave my home without having to worry while they worked. Most recently, they painted my kids' bedrooms. Their job was clean, fast, and well executed. My garage cabinets look much better than ordinary garage cabinets at about the same price as those closet organizers. Mark recommended the color "Inside Passage" which made it look more custom than white. My best friend also hired Mark to redo her entire home including kitchen and bathrooms. Samuel and his two sons came in and replaced the wood where we had two floor heaters, and then sanded everything down to the natural wood color. He was very patient, understanding, communicative, and helpful. He left a few different stain colors for us to choose from BEFORE he did the finishing work. The whole job (1,000 square ft) took 3 days total. the price was very good, and I'm so happy that I used him. Some other local people were charging me basically double, and said it could take 5-7 days... With Samuel, you get fantastic value, and good people. I highly recommend Samuel to work on your wood floors.
