I haven't purchased any window treatments YET from Stanley Shade but after I read a few reviews about this place and a few competitors, I thought this place has to be checked out. I've had several phone conversations with Ryan, the owner, and he's always been helpful and not pushing to close a deal. But I did use Stanley Shade just yesterday for some repair work on my Hunter Douglas shades - they were installed by the previous owner. And although I'm pretty handy and a big Youtube person, I couldn't quite program my shades correctly. Ryan had Martin come over and he was on time. Well, in just a few minutes Martin got the task done in a matter of minutes. He also gave me more insight on the blackout shades I'm dreaming about for my bedroom. I had a bad experience with another Hunter Douglas vendor (see my other review on their Yelp page for more details) and they were telling me it would take 5-6 MONTHS to get my shades installed, but Ryan and his installer at Stanley Shade were able to complete my order from start to finish in less than 4 weeks. Stanley Shades has done the blinds for all my windows, including a special size for one of my kitchen windows. The other day the cord broke on a blind so I called them for help. I expected to have to replace the whole shade, but Ryan came right over and said they would only need to slot in a new cord, which would only take about 15 minutes. One of the guys (sorry, blanking on his name) came over about an hour later and did the job and they only charged $30. Yea! When I first moved into my condo 30 years ago I had blinds put in by a well-known big-name company and they were terrible. It's been Stanley Shades for me ever since. The valence on our vertical blinds fell off. I called several shade companies and no one was willing to fix it. I called Stanley Shade and they were very anxious and willing to come over and fix our problem. Back in 2012, Stanley Shade installed 3 custom Hunter Douglas metal mini-blinds in my remodeled kitchen. They did a super job. Last year, I called Stanley Shade to see if they could find replacements for the cracked plastic end pieces on the bottom rung of the shades. Within a week, the replacements were available at no charge. Just this last week, I needed tabs to replace the cracked tabs holding the strings in place on those bottom rungs. Used their online web contact and left an email message with Ryan LaFerrara on a Saturday. Received an immediate response from Ryan. Again, the pieces arrived, free of charge within a week. I have been installing shades myself from a big box store and struggling through cutting them to size, attaching brackets when the bracket model changes, etc. in my 4 apartment buildings. These are easily damaged by tenants and need replacing frequently. How much better to let Ryan at Stanley Shades do it. This is a local business I was happy to find. I went in to ask if they do small jobs because many large companies don't want to be bothered. (btw "large" companies, not a good way to impress, get future, large jobs or referrals) Anyway, Stanley Shade was happy to help me. I told Ryan what I wanted and a few days later Aaron came to measure. They said it would be about a week but came sooner as someone else cancelled. Ryan called to see if I was available that day and I was. Aaron installed and had the job done quickly. He is polite, pleasant and patient and very good at what he does. I think those things are important when someone comes into your home. He was masked the whole time, as was I, also Ryan inside the store. My kitchen window has 3 panels. The outside 2 are casement windows and the middle is fixed. I wanted separate blinds for each so I could open or close them depending on the sun and whether the casements were open or closed. Their only mistake was bringing an outdated book on their visit so we had to go in and choose different ones. They measured expertly, installed quickly and efficiently, including taking down old hardware and removing our crappy old shades, and came up with a good solution for a very hard to fit window. We just had our new blinds installed by Stanley and couldn't be happier. We shopped at all the Big Box stores and then came to these guys. Not only did they beat the other prices they came out personally to inspect and measure all the windows and sliding glass doors and brought samples to make sure the color selection looked best. They also made sure that the little items that would make a huge difference were discussed like locations of the cords and how the blinds stack up to one side of the window or the other. That kind of service is not available by HD or Lowes or any of the others. Installation was quick and they cleaned up what little mess came from installing the hardware.
