I've been here twice and this place serves the best Mexican food around. Just a few days ago I had the enchiladas with Alex pork and green sauce and it blew me away. I had a margarita as recommended by our excellent server and it was equal parts amazing and fantastic. I don't usually order margaritas in Mexican restaurants and I despise a margarita mix. This was not that-- totally fresh with seriously delicious tequila. Speaking of tequila--their tequila menu is out of this world. We had the sopapillas for dessert and they were tasty. Chimichanga tasted good, of which the grilled chicken and mashed beans inside mixed together and melted in my mouth, while the Enchilada with ground beef as the meat option was not that great. The cover was a little too greasy that it became so soft. The cheese on top was amazing tho. Attracted by this place since last year I came to C-U, because of its bright pink color outside. But I only tried it recently. Love this restaurant!! Just as how it looks outside, the restaurant is full with bright colors and tropical decorations; eating there made me feel like traveling in some Mexican city really! Most importantly, I like their large menu and their huuuge portion! This is the place that comforts your stomach! They have the largest free salsa I have ever seen and they give you 4 tortillas instead of three! Up to now I had tacos, fajita and tamale. I really recommend trying their combinations so that you can get lots of food, try different dishes at the same time, and the price is very reasonable. Even better, the stuff knew about the foods well and the service was quick. I will surely have more meals there. read more

Fiesta cafe is a go-to restaurant that is just a good casual place to go with your friends or whoever. I've been several times and have never had a particularly bad experience. It's also open til late compared to a lot of other restaurants (11pm), and the servers are nice without being too much. I usually get the Alex Tacos, what they're known for, which come with a mound of meat on each and these little grilled onion bulbs (I don't know what they're called) that I really love for some reason. Last night, I went for a friend's birthday dinner, and we got blended mango, passion fruit, and strawberry margarita pitchers and shared. They gave us sugar rimmed glasses with a sliced lime; it was a fun time! They also give you free chips and salsa which were gone within the first 5 minutes of us being there, but they refilled them for us :) Half of us got Alex tacos and other half got burritos. The ones that got burritos did comment that there were a lot of beans and not that much meat in them. Will still keep going every once in a while when I want some late night mexican food. read more

I greatly like this place and was trying to figure out whether to give it a 4 or 5. Due to some weird things, I went with 4, but it's really a 4.5 This is the classic kind of Mexican restaurant, but their margaritas and tacos are out of this world. The mango margarita was phenomenal and big! I got the Alex tacos which is their specialty! Those might be the best tacos I've ever had! They are juicy and crispy! The only downside is that they are a little expensive, especially since they didn't come with a side. They were sizable tacos so it's really only like a couple of bucks too expensive. While they did super well in the remodel, the bathrooms are a little scary. One toilet was leaking tabs the other day was not really bolted to the floor. It was an odd experience especially since they just remodeled and cleaned up the restaurant. It looks really sharp. There are millions of options in Champaign Urbana, but this is one of the best places I've been too. What a hidden gem! read more

Luckily, our friend did, and we had 3 margaritas made perfectly, and then ordered lunch! I ate the chicken enchiladas, with the salsa verde (not always an option at other restaurants!) so delicious! NEVER FIESTA CAFE I had shrimp fajita at the Fiesta Cafe Champaign, and it was TASTELESS. I ate less than half and told the waiter who said she would get the manager. Ten minutes later he came and said he would deduct the amount. No real apology. I did have a $5.00 beer, but he didn't have the courtesy to take that off the bill. Tried this fiesta cafe while in town visiting for the weekend. Overall what you'd expect from a Mexican style restaurant. The atmosphere was a little on the louder side. Everything tasted very authentic and the portions were quite large. I ordered the Leon dinner which came with a giant bean burrito covered in shredded cheese not queso sauce. A cheese enchilada with enchilada sauce and cheese on top and rice& beans. Everything tasted pretty good just wish they used the normal queso sauce like most places on top of their food. It was a bit heavy. The staff wasn't very attentive either which left us waiting for help a few times too. I was a waitress for 5 years so I always support a good staff but I will never say anything good about this place. I went here with 4 friends and we ordered one margarita on the rocks each, after over an hour of no drinks I finally got track of the waiter and he said our drinks were coming and then he was not to be seen. After 1:45 I went to the manger who was no help and I got no apology or any sense of remorse from the manger of the waiter, even though everyone around us had received several rounds. The waiter when I asked was rude and mean and could have cared less about any of us there. There are other Mexican restaurants around this area that are better and have better service and have nicer people. read more

The food was okay. The service from the staff was great. She was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The owner is the issue here. He requires his staff to wear masks, while refusing to do so himself. My 70 year old mother was very uncomfortable with him standing over her, breathing down onto her while we all wore masks, like his staff. My mother politely asked him to stop coming to the table without a mask on, and he stood there staring at her angrily, posturing for a good 15 seconds. He then hidden directly into her face before continuing to refill our water. Had we not already eaten most of our meals, we would have walked it. It was aggressive, and uncomfortable. I ordered the alex tacos since that's what they're known for but it was really greasy. The onion that was served with it did not look appetizing at all. It was soaked in grease! Took my girlfriend here for dinner and ordered a couple drinks. The Marg menu was made essentially for alcoholics with 20-30 unique drinks. My girlfriend and I ended up plowing through 3 each until we were absolutely shazzamed in the middle of this family friendly restaurant. Staff was really accommodating to all the yelling and fighting that inevitably broke out, as we are not on great terms. Service was great; the waiter even weighed in on our arguments siding with me after I slipped him a $20 in the bathroom. After the blowout, my girlfriend was too salty (and drunk) to drive home, so while she ubered away from this little pink castle, i created my own little fiesta in the toilet. My wife and I can go to any other Mexican restaurant and our bill is around $30. When we dine at fiesta and order the same thing, our bill is always closer to $50. Sorry but they're very costly. Went here the other day with two friends and had a really great time. We sat outside in their shaded patio that brought the most amazing breeze throughout the whole meal. They brought out chips with 2 salsas while we spent about 20 minutes looking at their very extensive menu. After about 15 minutes we decided on margaritas. They had the largest list of margaritas I've ever seen. I decided on the pomegranate one on the rocks. I truly enjoyed it. We finally decided on food which was the most difficult part of our visit because they had so many options! Me and one of my friends got their veggie burritos with queso dip on the side. My boyfriend got steak fajitas. While waiting for our food we enjoyed our drinks, the breeze and the Mexican music that truly took me out of Champaign and to the beaches of Mexico. Our food came out looking incredible. My boyfriends steak fajitas came out on a burning hot skillet with the most amazing aromas coming from it. My burrito came out perfectly and I enjoyed it until I was too full to continue. We all split our checks which didn't bother them which was nice. We left full and completely satisfied. I came to Fiesta with my husband last weekend for a late lunch. We were immediately greeted upon entering the restaurant and Amy was our server. She provided quick menu recommendations and great service throughout our time at the restaurant. We ordered the Alex Tacos and they were delicious! My husband and I each ordered the platter of three tacos and we both had leftover. Great for lunch the next day! The double layer of tortillas were delicious, the ground pork was flavorful, and I loved the spicy green sauce and cilantro. Great flavor combinations! The chips and salsa tasted fresh and were refilled before we could even ask. Try a margarita, too. You won't regret it.
