Very similar to El Toro and Dos Reales.... quick and big portions. It took them a very long time to get us our food -- we wound up filling up on chips and salsa. The plate was scalding hot, but the food was tepid. Chile rellenos (offered as part of a lunch special and you're unable to order them by themselves) was a little off -- the pepper seemed slimy and stringy, couldn't really cut into it.... didn't want to send it back because I didn't want to wait another half hour for it to come out. It's in the same spot as Sitara occupied -- you could hear the microwave door opening and closing...and then the beeping of the buttons....my guacamole salad was brown. Happy that they're open, but maybe it's opening week jitters?? read more

So delicious - especially the shrimp which was perfectly seasoned. We had churros for dessert and they were so addictive, with a crispy and lightly sugared/cinnamon'ed outside and moist, soft inside, served with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a cherry. The restaurant had a clean and colorful interior, and we really appreciated the kindness and friendliness of the servers. Food came out quick, too. Can't wait to go back! read more

I've been twice and both times were very delicious. The place is small and service was just a little slow but worth the wait. Lime margaritas are awesome. I tried the El Pastor and Carnitas tacos, both were delicious. Also tried a shrimp taco that was delicious as well. They have my favorite rice and beans in town so far. Stopped by after the Saturday farmer's market...and we're so happy we did! There was no shortage of staff checking in on us--and every person was kind and happy. The food...oh the food! We both ordered dishes with the red sauce (I, the chimichangas, and my beloved, a combo enchilada/quesadilla plate.) Although we couldn't confirm, we suspected warm spices in the sauce (his money was on cinnamon while I was leaning clover). Whatever it was--wow! And they wisely use thigh meat for the chicken dishes...it was like buttah! Since moving here late last year, we discovered there are is no shortage of Mexican and Latin choices in both the brick and mortar and food truck variety (we're ok with this), but many are "just fine" and definitely interchangeable. Tres Nopales, however, is special. Give it a try. Absolutely worth it! My friends and I were looking for a quick place to grab a bite to eat on Main Street Urbana and so we decided to stop into Tres Nopales. When you first walk in the first thing you notice is the lack of flair that most Mexican restaurants have, there were barely any decorations anywhere. Then it goes downhill from there, the chips are on the verge of being stale and they tasted like old oil was used to fry them. The salsa tastes like marinara sauce that has been doctored with diced onions and cilantro. I ordered the lunch beef chimichanga and it was very soggy, most chimichangas I've had are crispy even with sauce and queso on top.
