My neighbor/ friend from Pierce took a nice mountain drive and stopped in one evening after driving back from Lewiston and I had heard not so good things about the food, well I'm gonna say never listen to what other people say check it out for yourself well,we both had bacon wrapped shrimp and it was very delish the chips and salsa were spot on oh yeah, I know who can mess up chips and salsa. Well the salsa was wonderful and the chips were very fresh and warm when they were brought to our table. The only downside I have on this meal is they need to back off on some of the cheese that was melted over the top of the shrimp and bacon but other than that, everything was good rice beans, all amazing and yes, I would go back again. they have to be doing something right because they were very busy and it was in the evening. and the atmosphere and ambience was exceptional. Good but not amazing food served with friendly efficient service and an impeccably clean interior and kitchen. The cocktails were only 3 stars in my opinion -- the skinny margarita didn't taste very good, not sure why, and the Paloma I had after it wasn't much better. Start by losing the blue salt that they put around the rim which I think is not flavorless. Either do regular salt or none at all. The chips and salsa were fine, The salsa looked a little unusual, cut more coarsely than I'm used to, but it was good. The dinner was solid. I had a combination plate with a crispy taco, tostada, and cheese enchilada. All pretty good and they benefitted from some spice from the bottle of Tapatio sauce on the table. My friend had the arroz con pollo which looked a bit unusual (again, more coarsely cut vegetables and a thinner sauce than I'm used to) but he liked it. Overall, I'd come back anytime I was in Orofino. Though I might get a beer or straight tequila with my meal! read more

My husband and I were in town for a business trip. We tried Fiesta En Jalisco the first night we were in town. The chips and salsa provided were a little disappointing. The chips taste just a little bit sour, like they had been fried in old oil or reheated poorly. The salsa was actually chucks of unidentifiable vegetables in a tomato based liquid. It didn't stop us from eating the chips and salsa provided, but they just weren't the best. My margarita was okay, but nothing notable. When our meals came we were surprised by the portion size! The beans and rice were lovely and both of our meals were very good. My husband got a combination meal, but the choice of protein was confused. He got a chicken taco instead of the beef that he ordered. My Chicken Crema dish was delicious. Too bad that we weren't super hungry because we had to leave a fair amount of food behind because of the portion sizes. I'm sure that the local people appreciate the leftovers for lunch the next day if they choose to eat here for supper. read more

For a small town in Northern Idaho this place is great. Food is flavorful and the family serving the meals are quick and helpful. Great little Mexican restaurant with good portion sizes. The waiters were very friendly and fast service. The restaurant did have a strong unpleasant smell, I'm not sure if it was their cleaner of not. The food did need salt, but we had that on the table. All in all good. read more

I ordered the Pollo Jalisco my first time here. The chicken came in a cheese sauce with mushrooms and was excellent. The second time here I ordered chicken fajitas - good flavor just heavier on onions and peppers and less chicken than I expected for the price. The beans and rice are great. Fantastic ambiance and margaritas to enjoy with our meal - which was also great! I had the beef chimichanga with a frozen strawberry margarita and it was the perfect refreshment in the summer heat. Small town feel, friendly staff, good prices, clean, appropriate serving sizes and really good salsa. The taco salad was good but a little light on variety of items in the salad, but the meat was warm (yes please) not cold and lettuce was sliced thin so it was easy to mix it. Overall with the salsa added, really nice flavor. Better half had the combo plate #4 (tamale, taco, enchilada). Only thing off was the Spanish rice, just bland, otherwise, very good experience. First I need to say it is Sunday in Orofino, ID. Suffice it to say that there are not many food choices in this small town. The hotel we are staying at gave us two choices for food and this was represented as the better of the two. For starters the chips were the thick heavy type and the salsa was mild. The salsa was very fresh tasting but wish it had just slightly more kick. I had the Chimichanga Combo and my wife had the Huevos Texanos. The chimi appeared to be on the smaller side but after digging in realized it was absolutely stuffed with chicken. Often times there is a lot of fluff in these. Not so much with this one. The rice and beans were average. My wife enjoyed her dish and was also impressed with how much meat was in it. She said she would order it again. The service was attentive and friendly. We only had water but it was being filled regularly without us noticing. As I said the rice and beans were meh and the prices here are reflective of being the only decent gig in town. If we were to stay in Orofino sometime in the future we would definitely drop in again. read more

The BEST Mexican food I have ever had!!!!!! Wow! Fabulous!!! I do forget the name of what I had but it was more than enough for two people the plate cost a little over $20 and it contained succulent shrimp smooth delicious melt in your mouth steak and wonderful chicken with lightly spiced almost addictive tasting vegetables it was served with hot tortillas and a boat of sour cream homemade guacamole and fixtures and OOOH my God it was so good it just made me wanna slap myself!!!! Friggin delicious!!! The restaurant was cheerful and very clean I love the happy decorations I love the waitstaff I love the management I love everything about this place. Given the limited selection in Orofino, I've been here a couple times, and tried to have something different each time. They have wonderful chips and salsa - the salsa has a little kick to it, which I was thrilled about. The rest of the meals were kind of bland. But....this is northern Idaho, and I can't expect folks to want truly spicy Mexican food. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. read more

I have to say first, this little town does not have a lot of choices when it comes to restaurants. This was one of the two that the hotel recommended. For the record, I eat a lot of Mexican food, from many different places. I ordered the steak & shimp combo plate. I noticed the moment the food hit the table, that every item except the shrimp was less than room temperature. The steak was a great piece of meat, but being cold, and over salted, it was very disappointing. The beans & rice were just ok. The Shrimp were good, and that's not just because there were the only warm thing on the plate. Overall the service was good. The server wanted to rewarm the food, but I get nervous sending food back, so I declined. The server did make an effort on the bill to make things better. This was a relieve as the prices were a little more than what would be expected in this little town, in the middle of nowhere. Considering the limited choices in town, I would revisit this restaurant in the future to try other menu items. read more

This place has really good mexican food. It is your pretty standard sit-down mexican restaurant, but the service is really good and the Camarones a la Diabla are TO DIE FOR. Literally. No, I really mean it would be worth dying to get some of these shrimps. Frankly, Orofino is blessed to have a Mexican restaurant of this caliber. I didn't appreciate it until I moved to Southern California. I have had Camarones a la Diabla at probably 10 places since Fiesta and none have been quite as good. Greeted at the door...no waiting whatsoever. Carlos was our server and was absolutely wonderful, fully attentive, and cheerful as well. Food was very good, large portions...salsa was excellent! Second time, i took the recommendation of one of my fellow reviewers and tried the shrimp. Not my particular dish, but they were ok i guess. The prices are a little above my preference, but the quality of the service and the dish makes up for it. The receptionist at our hotel said this was her favorite place so we gave it a try. Service is good, food average. Salsa and chips both needed salt. Hubby had enchiladas and pronounced them ok. I had a shrimp salad with mango vinaigrette. It was on the side thank goodness because it was not tasty. Stopped in on a lazy rainy day. Place was virtually empty. Clean well lighted place. Service was excellent ( I mean we were the only ones in there so hopefully they normally are this good). The margaritas were also pretty standard from a mix, but fairly priced. Service was quite friendly and prompt. The restaurant itself seemed clean and bright. Very expensive, and every thing tastes the same. Having been stationed in San Diego in the Navy, I have had a lot of fine Mexican food, and this is bottom shelf at best. Bland, not much seasoning. Yeah...shame on us. We read the reviews, but figured how bad can it be. We have had plenty of bad Mexican food and figured what the hey...? ...It was worse than we could imagine. The food was horrible...and, expensive. It's a remote town, so I expected the food to be pricey...I just expected a little effort to go with the price. There was none. My wife ordered a straight shot of tequila to go with her beer - she ordered a tequila that we are very familiar with (we have a bottle at home). The tequila they gave us did not remotely resemble the tequila it was purported to be...it didn't look right and sure didn't taste right. They sure are nice folks, though. read more

The staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. The portions were very generous.
