So I've been to the Polson location multiple times.. there's not too many good restaurants there surprisingly so the few decent to good ones get repeat visits from me. I've also been to the Missoula location. SUPER friendly and attentive staff, never wait even when it's busy. The staff get a 5 star review from me for sure. I'd say the menu is authentic in nature, but the end product is a very Americanized version of Mexican. I've had meals there that I considered pretty good. 3.5 stars maybe. The last time I went, just a few days ago, it was barely good enough to hit 3 stars for me. GIGANTIC portions (the plate was the size of a turkey platter) but with large amounts of dry rice and flavorless soup of grey re-fried beans with way too much melted cheese (so I finally started ordering "light cheese") and warm shredded lettuce. The mole (one of my favorite sauces) is sooo sweet. Too sweet and not enough spice and the chicken pieces were extremely dry and almost rubbery. Tasted maybe freezer burned. Tender & juicy were nowhere in sight unfortunately. Very ehhhh to me this time. My sweetheart had the pollo a la crema. Same plate, different sauce. The cream sauce was super watery and everything else on the plate was the same as my dish. Same dry meat but his sauce was fairly tasty. The bar was out of several liquors needed to make several of the drinks so we ended up with 2nd choices. The place is large and open with cathedral ceilings and you cannot beat the view. And the staff is always amazing. Without the staff the rating would definitely been a 2 star this time. I'm sure I'll be back because I can only eat Thai food and BBQ so many times and Mexican food is one of my favorites. Traveling throughout Montana, my husband and I decided to spend the night in Polson. We checked in at a hotel and soon, I looked on Yelp to see what restaurant options we had. There were not too many options, so we decided Mexican, a margarita always sounds good after a long day driving. I am not a big fan of Mexican food, but this little place it's amazing!! The staff is super nice and friendly just like all my Mexican fellows. The waiter offered us some amazing mango margaritas. We went during happy hour so they were really inexpensive. The chips were good. I ordered the Carne asada cooked medium and it was AMAZING!! I don't ever remeber having such a juicy thin-cut steak. It had a very traditional flavor and I loved it!! My husband got a more traditional plate, he got some chicken enchiladas and was very pleased with the flavor and the quality of the food. The music on this place... it's amazing I just wanted to drink and sing!! They had a deck but we sat inside because there are a lot of nats in this lake. I personally get annoyed by this bugs but if you don't you should definitely sit outside because they have a gorgeous view. read more

Update:1 year later still super pissed about this shitty experience. I've been to a pletherA of Mexican restaurants at the ozarks and this was still the worst one. My friends reminded me of the awful experience. Food was better than my first visit a few years ago. The service was EXCELLENT! My only complaint is really a suggestion: replace the seat cushions in the booths. We had to move to a table because we felt like 8-year-olds who needed booster seats! Seriously. The seat back came up nearly to the back of our necks. New, firm seat cushions would be a major improvement to the dining experience. I know it's impolite to put my elbows in the table, but my elbows would barely reach. read more

In my 25 years of visiting Polson, this was the worst meal I've had. The highlight of the meal was the jalapeno poppers, which were no different than anything you can get in the frozen section of your local super market. I had a chimichanga that was so bad that I couldn't even come close to finishing it (that's noteworthy for me). Also had a terrible margarita. I did enjoy their salsa, which was kinda hot. The views were great. Being able to sit on the deck and look upon the lake and mountains was worth the trip. We've tried the restaurant in Polson today and we were at the Missoula one a few weeks ago. Pretty good Mexican food for Montana. The owners are from Jalisco Mexico hence the name. Many of the employees are from there also. Our server today was Juan. Such a nice guy and very helpful. I ordered the tacos al carbon. Amazing! The steak is seasoned and prepared to perfection. We have gone here before and liked it. Today, I ordered my usual Tostada with shredded beef. What I got was a plate full of shredded lettuce and some tomatoes with maybe, 1/2 cup of meat. Really??? Most of the time in any of the Mexican restaurants we go to, we get rice and beans and refried beans and enough meat to cover the tostada. This was extremely disappointing. It cost $8.79. I guess they think that it's tourists who go there to eat, so it's a one stop deal. We're locals! Pretty pricey for what I got. read more

I love the location in Missoula, so my husband and I wanted to try this one out since we were at Flathead. The service is terrible. The restaurant is dirty, and we got dirty plates brought to us. Unfortunately this place used to be okay to eat at. We had lunch there today and it was difficult to find anything for under $16.00 each. Que Bueno!!! Excellente!! Had the Carne Asada....cleaned the plate! We sat out on the deck overlooking Flathead Lake....what a view. The wait staff quickly put up umbrellas to keep the evening sun out of our eyes, and our server quickly brought our drink orders. The food on the other hand was terrible to say the least. Highly overpriced for the type of food. Not even close to being authentic Mexican food. Being from Arizona I eat Mexican food two or three times a week. I consider myself a fair judge. I had the two enchilada and taco combo. Enchilada sauce was ok, kind of a gravy consistency....I believe the refried beans were canned......yellow corn chips with the salsa, mostly broken smaller pieces.....cabbage in the salsa, which is OK but I'm not sure why people do this in different places. The best thing here, is their Burger. Believe it or not, they have the best burger I've ever had. I've been coming to this restaurant for a long time, and the only thing I wish was that it was more authentic and not as Americanized. Their prices are rather fair for some of their items, while others are a little high. Fabulous view, great drinks, and big portions of food are the highlight here. The downside is that the food is incredibly mediocre. Sysco frozen mexican is the fare here which is simply meh. Being from Arizona I have pretty high standards for Mexican food so this may not be helpful to people who haven't tasted real Mexican food. The service was average but the food was bland and disappointing. My chalupa (which I realize isn't real Mexican to begin with) had a rock hard shell that crumbled so much I could barely keep it together to take a bite. I couldn't taste any seasoning on the shredded beef but it tasted ok. The salsa had CABBAGE and CARROTS...I'm not joking. I didn't try it because it looked like tomato juice, chunks of onion, carrots, and cabbage and one of my fellow diners said, "It tastes like they mixed tomato sauce with coleslaw." The tamale wasn't too bad, the meat was pretty good and it was moist. Really disappointing dining experience but there's not much to choose from in Polson. read more

This place was ok, nothing special. The location and views were awesome! I had fajitas and my husband had carne asada and a chile relleno. Everything was good, and the portions are huge! Seriously, my husband's plate was big enough for a Christmas turkey! The food was definitely the best Mexican food I've had in Montana. I also had a Rumchata Colada and it was very good! The service must be required to use accents but the atmosphere is great either way. The food is decent but I'm sure there is room for improvement due to the prices you pay for them.
