Convenient in that is between our friend's house and the Carlsbad Village. We often walk from their house to the Village. On the way back Fiesta Liquor is a frequent stop of ours for ice and last minute boozy items we might need. Or maybe a Slim Jim. Prices are liqour store-centric as one would expect. This place is on State Street and goes around the corner on Beech. I remember corner stores like this when I was growing up in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. A big, boxy store with no windows, jammed with stuff. This one seems to focus most on liquor, which I guess is appropriate since it's called Fiesta Liquor. :) In my case, I had been to my seamstress around the corner and I needed an ice cream. This looked like the place. The guy behind the counter (big guy who looks sorta rough) was really very nice, and I got what I was lookin' for: a big drumstick ice cream bar, just like when I was a kid. Yum. read more

They just tried to charge me $50 and I knew that seemed too much so I asked the lady why it's $50 when it should be $40. She goes no, it's right, see? And proceeded to show me how she rung each of my two items up individually and it came out to $39. So she says the register is old and it's not her fault. And I tell her "most people won't notice so that's kinda messed up" and she proceeds to tell me that they reimburse people who come back and feel they were overcharged. And that they're "honest". Yes it says customers only(NO TIME LIMIT!!)...which we were!! they have a taco guy on there property on fridays. we purchased tacos and then beverages from inside the store. sat on there planter ate and drank then walk around the area for approximately two hours came back to no car. ended up costing us $400 to get it out of the impound yard. which the impound yard said they were to busy for us to get it then and would have to come back saturday morning....so uber home $65. the guy who owns this place Sam is a ASSHOLE. There's a man that works at this liquor store and he's incredibly rude. He is the dark haired, and appears to be the owner. Each time I go in, he throws my change back at me and acts like he's doing me a favor, even though I'm the one making purchases from his store and keeping him in business. This man has a very antiqued manner in dealing with people, knows zero customer service and he has singled me out, for some reason. Probably because I'm a woman. I hope someone takes over his business and reopens a customer friendly store so no one will ever have to deal with this idiot again. I am surprised to see some negative reviews about this place! I've been living in Carlsbad for a couple years now and always enjoy coming into Fiesta! First off, Joe is hilarious and extremely welcoming and conversational whenever we come in. He always gives my boyfriend and I great customer service and advice on products when we need a recommendation. Also the other gentleman that works earlier in the day (I think he's the owner) consistently gives us free salsas or even fruit and always is appreciative of our business. They have a great selection there for what we like to buy (champagne, wine, beer, non alcoholic beverages, & mezcal) and the prices are really reasonable for a neighborhood liquor store especially in this more affluent area. On top of that, we've bought several of their dope straw beach/sun hats which they sell for less than $10. They are sick and everyone compliments us on them! They are the perfect beach sun hats and well worth the price. We have literally only had a great experience shopping here and my boyfriend and I highly recommend them! AVOID THIS PLACE! The owner is a total jerk. We parked in his parking lot and I went in to check out his beer selection. I asked if he carried any limited beer and he quickly said no. Then he told me to leave because he was going to have my car towed because they were going to clean the parking lot (a total lie). I told him I was checking out his beer selection. I was sort of flabbergasted in reading some of the other reviews regarding Fiesta liquor and specifically the owner. I have been going to Fiesta liquor for about 10 years now and have never had a problem with any of the employees including the owner. The store is right around the corner from my office so it's very convenient to walk there for a soda or chips or something. They have a very good selection of snacks also beer and wine and liquor. Also with it being right next to the train station it's very convenient to stop in to grab things to take on the train with you. I personally would recommend this store for a snack, Liquor & More... If you're planning on catching the Coaster from Carlsbad Village to downtown San Diego/Del Mar Racetrack/Del Mar Fair (or anywhere in between) but you need beer - STAT?? This is your place! There is always a rough guy, I would consider him a "man's man", working behind the counter who is helpful and makes an effort to have a conversation every time I've been in. They carry a ton a great wines and this is the closest store to the train station in the village. They were selling used furniture on one side (inside) of the store....(?) It was a little janky looking, but I didn't care because I wasn't in the market for furniture at the time! I walked in to exchange a LAVAL propane tank which I had purchased at his store and when I attached the line to the tank the valve would not turn and remembering safety rules I did not try to force it with a wrench/hammer/etc. Upon hearing that the valve would not turn the owner became very abusive and would not exchange the tank even though I told him that it was LAVAL's responsibility and that they would make good on the exchange. He then got very angry and told me to leave and that I should get a life because it was obviously my fault. So very rude and disrespectful to customers. The owner is unappreciative of local customers and cares more about keeping his parking lot empty for all the customers that don't come. We are great neighborhood customers who always buy local and small if possible. My son and i got a snack at his store then walked across the street to get a coffee and 15 minutes later, the owner was having our car towed and the lot was empty as it was a rainy weekday morning. We were great customers but he lost us forever! The owner is rude and insulting and very chauvinistic and insulting towards women! He is completely crazy and scary. Also....The food and candy is years outdated and old. I bought a $5 candy bar that was four years out of date and moldy. It was a stocking stuffer, so i was mortified!!! Not your average liquor store. This place has a great selection of beer-from local craft breweries to not so local ones. I have impressed and surprised friends with thoughtful albeit last minute housewarming gifts from this place. The staff greet you and offer to help you find what you are looking for. The only thing missing is a sandwich shop but wait, there is a deli at Albertson's and a cafe in the same strip mall! It is a little more pricey than some larger retailers but you are paying for the convenient location, near the village and beach! read more
