Kate did a spectacular job planning our wedding at Mountain Shadows in October. From preliminary conversations ten months before the wedding, through the day of the event, Kate went above and beyond, taking care of all details of wedding planning/coordinating. Kate was extremely professional to work with, quickly responding to emails and proactively managing the wedding planning process. We arrived at Arcosanti in the middle of no where. It is a live-in artisian community for those wanting to perfect a certain type of bell making technic. The setting is mystical as it reminded me of a Hollywood movie set. It was beautiful in a unique way. I was glad to be attending a Cloth and Flame dinner here tonight. Cloth and Flame (C and F) had enhanced the surroundings with a bar, spa-like soothing music and mood lighting. Hors d'oeuvres were served while people mingled and engaged in pleasant conversations. An introduction was made of C and F, Arcosant staff and residents. They explained the mission of Arcosanti and shared the founder's vision. The bell was sounded and we all took our assigned seats for an incredible evening and fabulous food. Around 75 people sat at assigned seats for a delicious family style meal. Being seated in this manner forced you to meet and have conversations with couples on your right and left. It was a community feeling for a dinner that I don't get at a normal restaurant. People were open, engaging, friendly and warm. It was like dining at a friend's house with additional guests you have never met. The ambience was only outdone by the quality and flavor of the food. I have included a copy of the menu. We started with a mushroom, roasted garlic and allum crema. I am a huge fan of mushrooms and was not disappointed but had to remember, this was meant to be shared with others at the table. The next dish was a salad with cauliflower, raisins, berry mixture and mint. It was a completely different taste profile and a welcomed surprise to my taste buds. The orange flavored salmon filets and beef tenderloin with chimichurri sauces was perfectly cooked and moist. This is not easy to accomplish as they had to be served to all guests at once and were spot on. Great job by the chefs! Our dessert was a corn marscapone with strawberries. If you are looking to have a special evening with incredibly prepared food in a mystical setting, call Cloth and Flame. It will be a memorable evening and an enriching experience for those attending. Hats off to an event that was impeccably plannef and over the top.

We opted for the all in package where Boojum coordinated with their preferred venders to handle about 90% of the arrangements and for a VERY reasonable price. Everyone brought their A game!! Food was delicious, music was fantastic (even with a last minute DJ swap due to an emergency), and the grounds were stunning! They did everything right. Multiple beautiful backdrops available for the big day. We chose the grand fountain but soooo many other great options. Even the little things. Everyone warned us how hard it is to eat on your wedding day but as soon as we left the ceremony area to the backstage, there was a waiter for my wife and I along with the bridal party with appetizers and drink orders. Jennifer the day of works as your wedding coordinator and she does a fantastic job! Everything was so well run and on time as well. Everyone told me this was the best venue and the best experience they ever had at a wedding and I know it wasn't just them being nice! If you're the type of person who wants to be able to say you got married at Wrigley, fine. But if your focus is the best possible experience for your guests and yourselves, Boojum is by far the way to go!! These guys throw an EPIC wedding and party!!!

If you haven't been there, then you definitely need to pay it a visit. However, for a wedding venue, it was a bit odd. Maybe this was the fault of the coordinator? First the good things! The customer service really was great! The staff managing the bar area were super friendly and great to talk to at every visit! The food served was delicious, no complaints at all! The decor and aesthetics were wonderful for the venue and the Arizona area. The area in the main part of the venue, were the ceremony took place was lovely and shaded. There was a fountain and surrounded by lovely trees and structures. As with all venues, hosting a wedding with a cash or cash-less bar, this venue fell into the same issue. The alcohol not in bottles or cans just had to be watered down. There is no possible way our friends and myself had as many vodka mixed drinks, we are talking about over 10 or 11 at least for myself, and never even got a buzz. This seemed to be the consensus. The other issue was just the layout. The covered area / enclosed structure where the dinner took place was large and spacious. It was decorated with plants and man made areas that were lovely and it kept everyone together, socializing, and simply having fun. When that was done we were moved to an area behind the bar/sitting structure for live DJ and dance floor. This was simply counter productive to encouraging that togetherness and partying. instead it had various separate and distinct fire pits with covered areas and seating around each one. This pretty much cause the wedding party to all separate into their own clicks and neither one really interacting unless you were directly related/known to them some how. The dance floor was a raised gazebo area, which was lovely. However, from where some of the fire pits were, you had no view of who was dancing or if anyone was dancing. The DJ played a great playlist but she could have been definitely more interactive.

We rented this venue for a birthday party, and while the physical space is very pretty, I…read moreabsolutely would not recommend it. The venue manager, Lorena, is completely unprofessional, and the communication throughout the entire process was a nightmare. If you are considering booking this space, please be aware of the multiple red flags we experienced: Right from the start, Lorena canceled our first viewing appointment. Once we rescheduled and booked, communication via text became incredibly difficult. She would take days to respond, routinely failed to fully read messages, and would either ignore direct questions or respond with completely irrelevant answers. Getting a clear answer on when we could meet to pay our remaining balance was an exhausting process of constant follow-ups. During our initial visit, we were explicitly told multiple times that we could have a taquero set up inside the venue. However, when we arrived a month before the event to pay our final balance, Lorena abruptly changed her story, stating it wasn't allowed due to code issues. While code compliance is understandable, she should have contacted us to let us know about the changes sooner. Fortunately, our caterer was flexible enough to switch to a buffet style. We were told the venue would be open starting at 9:00 AM on the day of our event. When we arrived at 1:00 PM to set up, the building was locked. It took staff 30 minutes to arrive and open up, leaving us and our vendors waiting outside, which threw off our entire schedule. During setup, venue personnel constantly hovered and micromanaged us--complaining about the doors being open while we were actively unloading heavy items and restricting one of the vendors from using the VIP suite we had explicitly been told we could use for storage. Our contract required a $500 refundable deposit, which we paid in cash and were promised would be returned in cash. It ultimately took nearly two weeks of constant hounding to get our money back. When I went to retrieve it the Thursday after the event, Lorena claimed she didn't have the cash and promised the owner (Lupita) would Zelle it to me. After providing my information, Lorena would not respond to my texts for days, or sometimes would not respond at all. Fed up, I managed to track down the owner's number directly. When I spoke to Lupita on Friday, she informed me that she had actually given the deposit money to Lorena the day prior. Lorena had the money since Thursday and had not contacted me, even though she knew I had been asking for it for two weeks. The owner told me I could pick it up that day. When I finally went to pick up the deposit, Lorena was incredibly short with us and didn't even apologize. If I hadn't taken it upon myself to bypass management and contact the owner directly, I would probably still be waiting for my money. What should have been a celebratory experience was ruined by unnecessary stress and unprofessionalism. The venue itself is great for parties, but the venue manager/coordinator was horrible. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.

We approached Alexa at the beginning of the year for our late March 2015 wedding. We needed a day of coordinator but what we got was so much more. My fiance (now husband) and I thought we had everything taken care of with the exception of the final details. We had already booked the DJ, hair & makeup, the venue, had our invitations sent out.... what more was there to do??? How little we knew.... Alexa's organization and expertise blew us away. We filled out a number of online surveys so that she could make sure that she had every last detail taken care of. Everything from the rehearsal dinner, to the order that our family members would walk down the aisle, to who we wanted photos with (and who we didn't), toast speeches, what songs we wanted played and when, EVERYTHING was addressed and on the day of our wedding, she made sure that neither one of us had to worry about a thing. She attended so many of our meetings with our venue (even though we had a coordinator at the venue) and had an answer for us every time a minor dilemma or problem surfaced. Alexa also provided a number of helpful suggestions for seating charts, cards, first dance moment, re-use of floral arrangements to save money and so much more. I could tell you about how intuitive she is or how quick she was to respond (which is probably my biggest pet peeve when working with people). Or how on my wedding day, she was invaluable and handled everything with class, ease and a level of professionalism that is rarely seen. I will only ever recommend Alexa of Simply Modern Events to friends, family, colleagues.. anyone I come across who needs a wedding planner! ALEXA, WE LOVE YOU!!!!
