First time dining here last night. As somebody who frequents Mexican restaurants, I was not disappointed with this place! We elected to sit on the patio which was nice. Our waitress quickly brought our chips and salsa, which were quality. We ordered margaritas which were generous and not over priced. For dinner I ordered la especial, which consisted of an enchilada, taco, tostada, chalupa, Chile relleno and rice and beans. I have some leftovers for lunch today but what I had last night was very very good. My favorite item on the plate was probably the Chile. Will definitely return here again if in the area! I'm hoping my experience here was a fluke. I've been to Fiesta Veracruz before. The food is decent and there is plenty of space for groups. I went with my daughter around 5:00 in a Saturday evening. It wasn't too busy and someone seated us right away. Before we were situated in our seats, we had chips and salsa. Great! Then, about 2 minutes later, a server asked if anyone had come to take our drink order. We said no and he promptly took it and delivered them. Then the waiting game began. After almost 10 minutes of sitting, I went back to the front and told the girl that had seated us, that no one had taken our order yet. It still took another 3 minutes for a server to come over to the table. Our order was simple-a fajita taco salad and a kids taco meal. Again, the restaurant wasn't that busy. It took 20 minutes to get our food. When the food came, I asked for sour cream. Almost 10 minutes later, when my salad was nearly gone, my sour cream appeared. There was a larger party, seated after us, that was served and left before we were done. It was crazy. My only complaint is that they allow children in the bar area. There is nothing more disruptive to a meal than a screaming child whose parents believe is being cute. The food, as always, was great. read more

Very slow service. Some of my orders were served cold also. We gave this place a go about twice since the first time we went there is when they opened. So, maybe they just needed some experience. We went again after a few months and still got same experience if not worse. read more

I've never had a bad time here! The atmosphere is lively, and the food is amazing!! My favorite dish is Pollo jaracho. It is always super flavorful and perfectly cooked! Given a choice between Taco Bell and this restaurant, I would choose Taco Bell. The food was very mediocre. The only saving grace is that I could get a margarita although even that was really mediocre. Very disappointed that we have a new Mexican restaurant that is "nothing to write home about''. Just to clarify I ordered the sampler plate appetizer, the Polo Hawaiiana (sp?) as well as the Mexican lava cake dessert. In other words, I feel I experienced a pretty broad spectrum of their food. None of these were very good. The one good thing that was a surprise was how easy it was to park. I thought that would be an issue but it's not at all. Also the service was very nice. But that doesn't mean a whole lot if your meal is not very good. read more

My sister and I ate here yesterday and as soon as we left we started feeling sick and now I have been sick for over 24 hours with FOOD POISONING. We have been eating here for years and never had a problem but this most recent time was very rough on my stomach. All I ordered was a grilled chicken burrito and she had grilled chicken too, so that had to be what it was. Very very disappointing. Went to work all day trying not to get sick. We found this restaurant on an overnight trip through Wilmington. We were pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. The staff was friendly, the food was good. The only issue we had was my husbands order didn't match the menu description. He was unable to clarify with the server as she didn't understand. read more

After only three months in business, this large, well-laid out downtown restaurant was absolutely booming on the evening before Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant is locally owned, has a huge menu, attentive service, great prices and excellent parking. We tried only the Garlic sautéed shrimp, a side of guacamole and enjoyed the super fresh chips and salsa. Everything was excellent. We wish we lived locally so that we could work our way through every item on the menu. We will certainly return to Fiesta Veracruz on subsequent trips to Wilmington. read more

I was excited to have another Mexican restaurant to visit locally. The people here are super friendly and seem passionate. I just was not blown away by the food, and I love Mexican food. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by their enchiladas supremas. This one did not impress. I was put off by the fact that our food came out literally 2 minutes after we ordered it. My cheese enchilada was not warm or melted. The bean enchilada was ok. The beef enchilada tasted like the frozen burritos that you get at Kroger. The chicken enchilada was, by far, the best of the bunch. I can always tell when my wife isn't impressed when she asks, "what do you think?" Maybe I will try again once they get things fine-tuned. The place also seems a little empty. Maybe fill the space with some more tables or something. It is like walking through a warehouse with random tables set up. read more

We go here very often because we love the food it's much less saltier than any of the other Mexican restaurants in Wilmington we love the prices because they're not too expensive and the staff are incredibly kind and very attentive. It's a pleasure to dine at Fiesta Veracruz with great food wonderful staff and always smiling faces. read more

The food was bland and had lots of filler onions to make up for the lack of other vegetables in the fajitas. The order our food came out was strange in that the guacamole came out AFTER our meal was served and we had to request it even though we ordered it before our meal. Hmmmm it seems that the guacamole should come out before the meal as the appetizer it was intended. But what was even more utterly confusing was that the waitress only addressed my husband, each time coming to the table and saying several times saying, "Sir, is everything okay?" leaving me speechless I had to ask for more water several times. "Sir, here is your water," uhm NO the water is mine. She comes back to our table "Sir, is everything okay would you like another beer?" I know beer is a great source of income but please in the future, address everyone at the table. At this point it became comical and we started joking about the fact that I must be invisible or maybe not pretty enough for her to address or maybe I looked young enough to be a kid (hahaha). When the check came and of course with her addressing only my husband, "Sir, I hope everything was delicious here is your check thank you for coming in please come back again." My husband then replied, "give the check to my wife." While she was handing me the check I was FINALLY addressed, "Here's the check." The waitresses rudeness that extended ONLY to me was not something I was going to address with my family sitting there nor was I going to make it an issue with her manager or the owners. I have experienced this sort of rudeness too many times and at this point our tip will just reflect our experience. Needless to say we wont be going back. read more

Don't order the chile rellenos. They were rubbery with a weird cheese product in the middle. Chile rellenos, when done well, are one of my favorite things. My impression is this is the kind of Mexican place where you're safe ordering something easy like fajitas but don't stray too much from that. Ate here once two years ago, and this is a crowded place with little or no privacy if you are seeking a quiet interlude ~ this ain't it! Another thing is the fare is not that commensurate to what I have experienced in the Southwest and certainly not a LIttle Anita's in New Mexico type dining. I had dinner here on a Monday evening while traveling to Wilmington to teach a workshop. I was simply walking by the restaurant and was drawn in my by the wonderful smells. The menu was varied with many options. I had chimichangas, which were delicious, well prepared and flavorful. The sides were fresh and fit well with the main meal. I always like coming here. The food is great and the service is wonderful as well. The one thing I don't appreciate are the screaming children. The bar could easily be converted to an adult's only area. Yes, it is a family place, but it would be nice to have an area where the screams of the children are muffled. read more
