We're pretty picky with Mexican. We do really love the really authentic stuff, let's call it…read more"Taqueria Mexican", with the rice and meat burritos in foil, pozole, tacos of just meat, onions and cilantro, menudo, sopes, tortas, and corn husk wrapped tamales. This is where little nieghborhood taco trucks, Taqueria Mixteca in Dayton, and Senor Piquin in Sprigfield fall. We also like tons of melted cheese and sauces on the enchiladas, burritos and tamales too sometimes like you find in more "Gringo Mexican" places with fruity frozen margaritas and non-authentic fajitas and chimichangas. But there exists a magical middle ground... that sliver where the two overlap... We'll call it "Cantina Mexican" - the best of both worlds. A place that pleases everyone. Authentic enough for the Foodies, and familiar enough to satisfy everyone. This is one of those places. It's a culinary unicorn. Mythical and magically tasty. (Our usual/favorite unicorn is Las Margaritas on Airway, so we tend to compare all to them.) We've been to Acapulco couple times now, and I can say without a doubt: 1: The Guacamole Mexicano is a huge bowl of FRESH guac made when you order and the flavor is amazing. If you have given up liking guac, try this stuff it might change your life and make you a guacficianado. It also comes in a bowl big enough for the table to share, it's hella impressive and tasty. 2: The carnitas (one of my tests for a Mexican places) were THE BEST I've ever had. Eye rolling good. Amazingly juicy and tender perfection that didn't even need chewed. I suggest getting the Carnitas Verde... Lucious pork swimming in pork's perfect life partner sauce, Verde. Seriously, the best I've had. Even my husband said so. And he kids me for always ordering carnitas. I'm already planning my lunch tomorrow with the leftovers. The rest: Hub got the seafood enchiladas and chili poblano. He said the sauce wasnt his favorite, but it was still good. Same with the tamales we got. Good, very good even, but I've had better, but second place is still saying something! Dad's favorite thing on Earth I think is the mammoth Burrito California. Roughly the size of a man's head, it's filled with chicken, beef, shrimp, onions and rice, topped with cheese sauce, chorizo and grilled pineapple. (I can't find my pic of it) If they lived closer I think he'd have it everyday. So all in all a spectacular quality unicorn of Mexican delights. Definitely one of the best in the region. They are always busy and tip the waiters nicely, those guys hustle!

The food was absolutely fantastic, but the service completely overshadowed the experience…read more From the moment we walked in, everything felt incredibly rushed. We had barely made it to our table before employees were yelling, "¡Vámonos! ¡Vámonos!" Then, before we even had a chance to sit down, our waiter was already asking what we wanted to drink. When my mother-in-law mentioned that the unsweetened tea didn't really taste like tea, instead of trying to help or understand, he responded with an attitude and said, "The one I gave you is unsweetened tea. It's not water." It came across as very dismissive. He then rushed us to place our food orders. My husband only likes mozzarella cheese, and we've been to Mexican restaurants that use mozzarella on certain dishes. When we asked what kind of cheese came on the tacos, the waiter quickly replied, "Shredded cheese," with no explanation, then immediately pointed at me and said, "Next," before my husband could even finish asking his question. I looked at him and asked specifically if it was mozzarella because that's the only cheese my husband likes. He said yes, but when the food arrived, it clearly wasn't mozzarella. When we politely asked if the dish could be made without cheese instead, he got defensive and said, "I told you it was shredded cheese." We reminded him that he had told us it was mozzarella, and he walked away upset. To make matters worse, my dad arrived a few minutes late, had just sat down, and before he even had time to look at the menu, the waiter asked for his order and sarcastically said, "Any day now." Throughout the rest of the meal, our drinks and chips were never refilled unless we specifically asked. We actually had to ask two different servers to refill both because our waiter wasn't checking on our table. The food truly deserves five stars, but the service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. It made what should have been a great meal feel stressful and unwelcoming.

Vallarta Mexican Seafood…read more All the vibes of a Mexican Pacific Coast restaurant. Finally persuaded my 100% Italian wife to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood, and she loves this place. Caveat: Vallarta Mexican Seafood is several rungs above the average Tex-Mex joint in the Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area. We really enjoy Sonora Grill Seafood Steak Bar & Grill, and Vallarta Mexican Seafood merits special attention as well. On our radar: La Poblanita Mexican Market and restaurant. A note on stars; Sonora Grille is on Burkhardt, and in a small strip mall; I am not inclined to award a strip mall restaurant 5 stars; however.... Vallarta Mexican Seafoodis also in a small strip mall with plenty of free parking. Folks inclined to visit and dine at The Greene might go west to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood. Travel Tip: do check menu Spanish definitions to avoid order errors. We can depend upon Yelp whilst researching: Here are 5 Star Reviews for Vallarta Mexican Seafood. Several of these reviews encouraged us to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood: ...but their food is SO GOOD!! Fresh, flavorful, not your typical Mexican restaurant. Visiting from Seattle and was looking for some good authentic Mexican cuisine. Found it here! Vallarta Mexican & Seafood... a MUST try for super fresh, delicious, LARGE portion seafood! Amazing service, fantastic portion sizes, and the food was awesome! will definitely be back! Throughout our 60 year relationship, my wife enjoys dessert as an appetizer, and today is no exception. The Churro's are delivered in a flash; we discovered this special treat nearly 50 years ago during an expedition to Spain and Portugal. The very best Churro's were prepared by roadside vendors, and our friends, Bill and Ellen Rose agreed. Neat ambience, and delightful service. Music is Boomer Music.... My wife insisted on MAR Y TIERRA - Mexican Surf and Turf. Grilled chicken, steak and shrimp served with rice, charro beans, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes - expect a togo box. My son elected QUESADILLA DE ASADA A flour tortilla filled with your choice of grilled meat, stuffed with cheese, grilled bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. Served with rice. And I selected Steak PARRILADAsteak cooked with bell peppers, tomatoes and onions. Served with rice, charro beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and flour tortillas - expect a togo box. We especially love El Tapatio and often order that. Grilled chicken with chorizo sausage and cheese sauce - SO yummy! Our favorite thing is probably the frozen margaritas. The best we've had anywhere, by far. Excellent flavor and the perfect amount of alcohol. It's a big restaurant with a lot of seating, so even when it looks crowded (we've had to park a street away sometimes), the wait is never long. I was in Wilmington for a tour at the college and only had one day to explore. After our…read moreperformance, we needed a place to eat after 9 PM, and Fiesta Veracruz was recommended by some of the students. The interior really lived up to the name--it was festive with lots of blue and brown tones, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The space was much larger than I expected, divided into three main areas. I was with a group of eight, and we had no trouble getting seated. Keep in mind, their kitchen stops serving the main menu after 10 PM, so plan accordingly. Our waitress was very helpful and sweet. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered tostadas from the menu. While it said they only came with ground beef, the waitress happily substituted steak for one of them at my request. I was curious about the ground beef, so I ended up getting one steak and one ground beef tostada, along with a side of fries and a strawberry kiwi margarita to drink. Before I get into the details, I'll mention that I'm from Chicago, where there's no shortage of excellent Mexican cuisine, so I might be a little biased. That said, the steak tostada was good, though I felt the shell could've been a bit thicker to better support the toppings. The fries were standard, and the margarita was delicious. If you're choosing between the steak and ground beef, I'd recommend the steak--it had better flavor in my opinion. Overall, I understand why Fiesta Veracruz is popular. It's probably one of the tastier spots in the area. If you're looking for some decent food in Wilmington, it's not a bad choice. For the area and a first-time experience, I'd give Fiesta Veracruz a 3 out of 5.

Mine was so unappetizing that I couldn't eat it. Got a box to go and then forgot it on the table when I left. I ordered the Enchiladas Suiza. It comes with green sauce. Not mine. It was served with melted cheese and a couple of pieces of canned green chilies were sprinkled under the cheese. I've had this elsewhere and know what to expect. Also, their menu here shows the green sauce that is typical for the dish and it mentions the green sauce in the description. The chicken pieces were dry, unseasoned and very chewy. The tortillas were gooey. My husband's Coconut Shrimp was so overcooked that it was hard to bite into and hard to chew. The rice with it was terrible. The mango salsa served with the shrimp was the only decent item on the plate. He left most of his food also. We won't return. We gave this place three tries. It's just not good food.
