I was in the area and this one was on my list from that magazine article that featured the Top 14 Nurseries in Los Angeles. Please be aware that you should make an appointment ahead of time. This is a small Nursery and they only allow one person per time slot reservation. I didn't have a reservation but was able to get it between 2 appts. I was in and out within 15 minutes. If you are planting herbs or vegetables look no further. Fully committed to adhering all COVID / Social Distancing measures so make the reservations with confidence that your safety (and those of their staff) has been kept in mind. I've bought tomatoes here before and this year for the second year row I've brought home blight. There are three tomato plants I got from the Armstrong nursery vendor they had at the nursery that day, along with 17 tomato mania vendor tomatoes. Hopefully I haven't transmitted blight to the whole crop. They don't stand behind their purchases, and did not give me a refund. The plant did not develop over weeks. At the beginning of the Covid-19 shutdown, when everyone was getting their gardening on, I got everything I needed from Fig Earth Supply and the local Eagle Rockdale garden. Fig Earth though, introduced me to high quality gardening supplies (gloves, hoses, tools), good soil, and I hear they have amazing workshops (I will attend one day, I promise). The contactless pick up was a game changer for me. I ordered online, paid, and picked up in the window I chose and everything would be ready outside with my name on it. Places like this really boosts the mood when you're stuck at home. I really appreciate the classes. Most recently, a horticulturist spoke to us about native plants ideal for hillside erosion. Extremely useful. The selection of herbals is decent. I picked up, for example (among other items), some borage. Also found a hard-to-find Violet de Bordeaux fig tree. Protective mesh baskets to protect roots from gophers are available, and any other type of tools, equipment and materials needed for successful gardening. The customer service here depends on who's there that day, sometimes it's not too friendly. But for the resources, I'd say if you have not been here yet, it's worth a visit. read more

We wanted to get some vegetable plants and herbs for our balcony garden since going to the grocery store is getting riskier every day. We stopped by and found out they were doing online purchases and contactless pickup. We ordered two types of tomato plants, Japanese eggplant, cucumber, Japanese garlic and some herbs. I also got pots and soil there on another occasion. You order through their website and they will email when your order is ready, it took a couple days. We passed Home Depot and it was crowded and people were not practicing social distancing. This was a better option for me! read more

Went to Fig today only to find they no longer sell the $130 bucket of formula 420 & won't be stocking it again cuz "we make more money off selling the small bags". Everything there, no matter what it is, is already at least $1 more than every other nursery. If not 2-5 dollars more. Come on. I can tell you from memory every boxed soil amendment you sell suggested retail price and tell you which other stores carry it. I have lots of ground I need the already expensive huge bucket. Not returning. No reason to. They sell the small bags for cheaper at ACE. I thought gardeners were looking out for each other, not looking to make a quick buck at any cost. If I was a dude I wouldn't be able to even grow a beard...so when my boyfriend expressed an interest in home grown organic vegetables I thought "He's gonna have to find another woman..." But then I Yelped for help on the east side of LA...& found Connor. He walked me through everything, was very patient and even discouraged me from needless garden tool acquisition (who doesn't love a new shear?). The people here were super friendly. It was slow when we went and didn't have a reservation but since it was slow they let us in and were very helpful. They had more herbs and fruit trees which was awesome they taught us some herbs that go well together! They also had no issues with me bringing in my cat who travels everywhere with me. I found Fig Earth online and what a great find! It's a small nursery jammed packed with lots of interesting veggies, plants, bushes, trees along with supplies needed to garden. They even have porous clay irrigation vessels. I didn't know I need one until I saw it. Haha! The young lady that helped was super knowledgeable and helpful. I wish I could remember her name. Fig Earth Supply has an Amazing selection of edible and medicinal plants, seeds and fruit trees. Thanks to them I now have 6 different types of strawberries growing, including short fat ones, long narrow ones and yellow alpines! I have 4 types of kale growing, including a Kale/Brussel Sprout hybrid, which has the leaves of Kale with the floret of Brussels Sprouts. Right now I'm sprouting a tray of edible flower seeds. I also have A "toothache plant" which has red and yellow flower bulbs that, when chewed or rubbed on a problem area in your mouth, make your mouth go numb and provide antibacterial properties to combat infections. They also have great garden accessories, soil and a very friendly staff. Right now, visits are by appointment only due to Covid. read more

I came here because I saw an ad for Mother's Day event with card making and mimosas. I thought my mom might enjoy it. So we came around 12pm and it was very empty, but a couple of kids at the table. The nursery in general is pretty small. They sell succulents and garden beds. It was kinda awkward, but no one greeted us and we weren't quite sure what to do with the Mother's Day event. Disappointed. Went there to look at purchasing a mini farm box today. No one greeted us but they greeted many others inquiring about their plants and herbs. It's funny I'm looking to spend $200+ on a wooden box but no one is going out of there way to help us and answer questions. I wanted to support a new local business but it is very frustrating when I'm ready to spend a good amount of money and getting no help. This is really my only negative review I've ever done and maybe they are great but first impression probably won't be back for the mini farm box. I might go back for herbs and veggies as long as I know what I need and don't have to rely on customer service. The nursery has such a great variety of plants and fruit trees, succulents, and then the every day stuff. Free parking. I attended one if their community events, live music, vendors, pizza, babies, dogs everywhere. It was amazing. I plan to have my bridal shower here. had such a wonderful interaction here yesterday. decided to purchase with them because they are one of the only nurseries i could find with cilantro plants so late in the season. their pickup appointment schedule and their care around COVID-19 safety solidified my choice. when i arrived i loved that self-help set up for picking up your order. i saw one of the staff when i arrived so i decided to confirm the conditions needed for replanting the sage i had purchased. i told them what i thought the best situation was they were unsure so went to confirm with another staff member and then took the time to show me the different kind of soils available at the time so i could make the right selection. so appreciative of the extra care and time taken, as well as the super cute presentation. read more

The staff here is great and they are very knowledgeable. They try really hard help you not waste money and understand how to get the most out of your garden. They are also great at supporting other local businesses in the Neighborhood. During Covid they have tried really hard to keep all their staff and patrons safe. They offer a wide selection of plants, seeds, soil and even custom garden boxes. They also deliver which has been a great for me because I love to garden but have some physical lifting limitations. I recently found this place, it has a lot to offer. It's a really nice nursery with great plants and really good fruits and vegetable trees ( I got a persimmon tree there last year and in a month I'll be enjoying the 5 persimmons it has). I also got a few passion fruit plants and they are growing nice. They sell quality plants and vegetable plants especially. This place is also available for special events, I've been there for a couple of birthdays and also their events they put together with local vendors, it's seems like a cool place have an event at as well, I'm planning to have my wife's 40th there. I spent hours online about to buy berry plants and then I came across this local store, abandoned cart, and Connor helped me choose the perfect varieties for my garden! I do love this place. The staff is uber friendly and they have a unique selection of plants that seem high quality. Or quality enough that I haven't killed them in a week or two. It's tad bit more expensive than say the place on York. But their plants seem to want to be friends, sturdy enough to handle my lack of expertise. I do have to admit that I often have a hard time with finding them open. On Tuesday, they're often closed by 5 despite the Yelp machine saying they're open until 6. When I asked how or why order wasn't pulled they claimed they "don't want to water separately" so you are asked to pay and hope other folks don't buy what you already paid for?! GREEDY CAPITALISTS GENTRIFIERS! This spot has no one who speaks Spanish in CYPRESS PARK! I had to drive down from the Valley, because my family said no one spoke Spanish when they went. I placed an online order and went to pick up today and half the order was missing. But they already charged me days ago. I placed it Saturday and Tuesday went to pick up and more than half my order wasn't available. No one called or notified me after I spent gas, money and time that the order was incomplete. They are these garden hipster places that doesn't care about community they're in. They don't understand how half an order already paid for can hurt someone's wallet or impact livelihood. Gentrification at its worse. When I asked when restocked they said they didn't know and didn't even offer to call me or update. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Many online nursery's and other places have better systems and more affordable like Artemisia, Lincoln Nursery and Theodore Payne, go to those instead. read more
