My son tore out my front yard and replanted with all native plants - 20+ varieties, then mixed in spring flower seeds in the soil. This was 2 years ago - almost all plants were purchased in little pots from Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery. Almost everything survived and has thrived in my yard, bringing bees and birds and just making my front yard special. Attaching a couple of photos - picture a yard dug up and these tiny plants replanted in a mix of soils. When spring comes along, this is what it looks like now. A great small California native plant nursery. This nursery has potential to be something great. We were looking for a ceanothus-Ray Hartman and this nursery had a few 1 gallon in stock. The staff was super friendly and asked us if we had any questions or needed help multiple times. We definitely will be back for more plants in the near future. Always on the lookout for native plants for my container garden, I finally found time during the pandemic to visit this lovely nursery. It's tucked away in Hahamongna Watershed Park, near the Frisbee golf course. The staff were very helpful in suggesting which plants would survive the summer heat with minimal water. The nursery is nonprofit and not huge, so don't expect a large amount of overwatered plants as in many for-profit nurseries. The focus is on propagating native plants; the business end seems to be an after-thought. There are a few books and T-shirts for sale as well as the plants. Definitely worth a visit. Full native nursery! You don't see many of these around so it was a treat to visit and chat with the knowledgeable staff about their selection. The bees were pollinating the bladder pod in the picture I captured. What's great is that not only are the small plants for sale, they show you what they grow into when they get mature. read more

I've been stuck in a native gardening phase since everything went closed, and it was the perfect time to set some time to redesign my front lawn. I stumbled across this nursery on Google maps haphazardly and decided to give it a go not expecting much. A little bit deep and difficult to find at first, this nursery can be found by following the nursery signs on the long-routed road. Soon you will see some horses and then park right near the side entrance into the garden. With many rows of native plants from their garden to replenish the Arroyo Seco area, this cute little place was staffed with a very knowledgable and passionate team. They spent almost the entire team giving the best customer service going over each native plant. Each plant has a info placard with picture of the maturing flowering stage. The 1-gallon pot ranges from $10 and up, but definitely worth the experience of giving back to the community! read more

Hidden way back in the Hahamonga Park area near the old Tom Sawyer Camp, I'd lived in Altadena 40 years and had never heard of it. Fortunately, I stumbled upon it and I am so glad I did. Absolutely love this little nursery, they have a great selection and very fair prices but the best part about the experience is the tremendously friendly and knowledgeable staff!! This native plant nursery is a hidden gem!!! We redid our backyard with drought tolerant plants and were unable to find certain plants used by our landscape architect in his design. This nursery had it all! They were helpful, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The staff goes above and beyond for their customers! They provided insight and tips on how to care for their product and were such a tremendous resource. If you need native plant landscape design, they have a designer available as well. Their prices were fair, plants were healthy and the customer service exemplary!!! I can't say enough great things about this nursery!!! It is a beautiful place to visit if you just want a day out in covid as they are located in a beautiful park next to horse stables.
