Figaros is right by my work so I go there alot for lunch. They have by far the best sandwiches anywhere close to south station. That being said, there service is not so great. Multiple times I have ordered a sandwich that wasnt what everyone else was getting and they totally forgot until I am standing there for 20 minutes and then they have to make it because they realized they never did. If you plan on going you will love the food, but even on a slow day there plan on waiting in line and for your food for 20-30 minutes, nevermind when its busy. A couple of occasions I have left because by the time I would of got my food my lunch break was over. There is another shop around the corner that gets way more busy and the longest your in there is 10 mins. They need to work on there service drastically as it is horrible. Ahhhhh Figaro's - so close to 5 stars but have had a few 'miss' days with the Whitey Bulger; more detail on this later in the review. These guys are passionate about what they do and take their craft seriously. Likewise, their service is great and they are friendly and light-hearted when taking orders. Rosie and her brother run a tight ship, and although there is usually a long line, which I never mind because that is a testament to public excellence, the reggae in the backdrop will ease the wait. Now on to the product: I could sit here and rant about the different sangos my slightly-overweight @ss has scarfed down, but there is only 1 that really matters: The Whitey Bulger. This is a classic rendition of a buffalo chicken wrap with a sexy twist. - - - The Wrap - - - A white wrap that is toasted to perfection, preferably golden brown(docked .5 star because on occasion it isn't toasted quite right) - - - The Meat - - - Chicken 1/2 marinated and 1/2 soaked in a buffalo sauce. Not quite marinated because it doesn't sit in the buffalo sauce more than 30 minutes before a new batch is needed, but not quite soaked because some lazy employee doesn't just squirt buffalo on the meat post-assembly. This method allows for factoryline like production, but doesn't skimp of the quality, which I appreciate. - - - The Extras - - - - - Sprinkled Mozz cheese - - A nice additive post-toast on the grill - - Shredded Lettuce - - Again, a nice touch instead of so many others just throwing an over sized, awkward leaf onto a lackluster sango. - - Bacon bits - - Chunky and cooked crispy, this adds to the sangos sexy allure. - -The Sauce - - 2 options here: -Blue Cheese - My preferences, and I suggest you ask for light blue - Ranch- Not my thing, but have had people I work with, and even I few I respect have it prepared this way. - - - Isolated Regret - - - Once in a blue moon, the sango will disappoint. Under toasting, or under rolling causing messy looseness had docked my review 1 star. If 4.5stars was an option, I would have selected this. - - - Conclusion - - - Every Thursday, both the quality and attitude of Fig's makes my lunchtime a very pleasurable experience. i just don't like this place. yeah SOME of the servers are characters and can on occasion be friendly, but if you are a girl and there is cute boy in line behind you then i can guarantee you will not get much attention and your order will be totally screwed up. this pretty much happens every time i go, and i am usually just ordering one of their specials so you would think they know what's in it since they created the damn thing, but no inevitably one critical ingredient will be missing. in general i think the food is heavy and greasy (and make no mistake i do like my grease, though i prefer it embedded in a crispy batter that has been deep fried) and makes me burp. I hate deli's anyway. Everyone should just stop being snobs and go to Chinatown for lunch instead. read more

The flavor was alright, but no sauces or anything that made it even remotely amazing or worth $9.75. Really hate to do this. I really do. The customer service here is A1. I've been going here off and on for quite sometime but the last couple of times including yesterday have been huge disappointments. I normally order a simple tuna melt in which I pay $10 but w/e. So the last time before yesterday I ordered my usual tuna. I waited 15 mins for it and when my order was up the cashier told me to grab a bag of chips. It was on the house. I left out of there thinking wow, they really are nice folks. I get back to the office unwrap my delicious meal to find that it was badly burned. Wow, so instead of remaking the sandwich and giving it to me on the house they gave a me a bag of chips to shut me up. So what happened yesterday is what's compelling me to write this. I hadn't eaten anything at all before lunch yesterday and I was starving. I was feeling that tuna again. Figured I'd give em another chance since they never really messed things up prior to the last. Everything worked out well. I enjoyed my lunch. Last night before dinner I started feeling nauseous and it was progressing. Mind you again that tuna was all I had all day. I ended up sleeping beside a bucket that I filled twice. Must have made runs to the toilet about 30 times. Had a headache and heat flashes. I was freezing and my place was set to 80. I'm aware that no place is entirely safe but once you get me sick, never again! read more

Yes to sunny corleone. I'm usually adventures with places I really like by trying out everything on the menu, but I can't get myself to order something other than the sunny when I'm at figaro's. The staff is SUPER nice and helpful with picking out orders. They are also very fast, so this place is perfect for lunch with your team on a work day. My team would meet in this area every once in a while, and we'd always find ourselves going back to figaro's for lunch. Superb. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots. From breakfast to lunch, everything on the menu is fantastic. Some of my favorite items are the Big Steak (cheesesteak, russian dressing, pickles and red onion), Sonny Corelone and the Whitey wrap (Thursdays Only). I have eaten many, many buffalo chicken sandwiched and wraps in my life, but none come close to being as good as the Whitey wrap. The wrap includes hot sauce marinated breaded chicken, cheese, shredded lettuce, bacon and either ranch or blue cheese. Went to Figaro's last Thursday for the first time for the infamous Whitey Wrap, which is a special on Thursdays. We got there before 12:00 and the line was out the door and down the street. But, we were committed. This is probably the best buffalo chicken wrap I've ever had. You can get it with ranch or bleu cheese, but in my opinion, bleu cheese is the only way to go. It's packed with crispy buffalo chicken, cheese, lettuce and crumbled bacon. Then, the game changer is that its grilled..absolutely phenomenal! I'll definitely be back for the whitey and to hopefully try some of their other wraps & sandwiches. read more

Favorite sandwich shop in Boston. I found this place by accident but it's probably one of the best accident's I've had. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and it didn't let me down. The chicken breast was fresh and you could actually taste the richness of it in the sandwich. I liked their pesto spread and I was impressed at their fresh mozzarella proportions. I have been here three times and only succeeded in getting food once. The first time I came in at 1020 for a breakfast sandwich, but apparently they had already stopped doing breakfast (OK maybe 1020 is cutting it fine when they end at 1030). I came for lunch once, no problem and the sub and muffin were great. Today I came at 950 and they were closed to prepare catering orders, so still no breakfast. The food is fine, the people are nice, the variety is good. But the prices? Too high. I work across the street from this place. If it was particularly exceptional and worth the price, I would go there regularly. But it is a lunch option only when it's pouring rain or snowing or I'm in a rush. Sometimes less is more. For example, a buffalo chicken sandwich is not made better by the addition of melted mozzarella. It already has blue cheese and that's enough to keep my attention. Porchetta is not made better by drenching it in chipotle mayo. Chipotle mayo being the most played out condiment of the 21st century, and a killer of all flavors delicate. Most importantly, though, it needs to be said to every restauranteur who serves patrons a pound of meat for lunch and charges them a pound of flesh for the privilege, that the quality of a sandwich is not determined by how much you can manage to pile on. Came for the famed buffalo chicken wrap, and was not disappointed. Wasn't spicy at all (but for the record, I have a ridiculous tolerance for spicy food), but the buffalo sauce was still on point. Will definitely get again next time I'm in Boston. Only issue was I asked the lady if they had jalepenos, and she said yes. Then I watched her cut up a pepperocini and put it on my wrap. Ugh.... Those are completely different things. That's like asking for lettuce, and getting spinach instead. Yea they are related, and kind of look similar... But it's a completely different food. My favorite Boston sub shop! The line can get a little long but it moves pretty quickly and it is absolutely worth the wait. Ive tried quiet a few different things on the menu but the two timer is easily my go to choice - steak & cheese, onions, hots and chipotle mayo pressed together on a panini press...yum! They also have a white board of rotating specials, the porchetta (I probably spelt that wrong) is their take on the Cuban sandwich and it's amazing. I promise, whatever you decide on, you will not be disappointed. Also, if you pay cash you get a free brownie or blondie and they donate a portion of cash sales to St. Jude so it's a win, win situation. read more

I'm not sure how many returning clients Scout Mop will bring to Figaro's. I know that I won't be one. The ordering and purchasing actually went very smoothly. There was a very reasonable line at 1pm on a decently nice Wednesday. I ordered a Critic's Choice Wrap, which includes grilled chicken breast, sliced tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and Swiss cheese, all rolled up in a plain wrap topped with the "signature vinaigrette" dressing. The lady was happy to accommodate when I asked for lettuce to be added. One thing I should have taken as a warning: It's served pressed. In my head, I imagined Panini in wrap form, which is what it looked like when the chef handed it over. What happened after I got back to my office to start eating was quite beyond my imagination. I had the messiest lunch food experience in the my office lunch history thus far. The dressing soaked through the wrap and infiltrated the entire sandwich paper sheet wrapping. When I tried to tear the paper away, some of the wrap went with it. But it still mostly looked like a wrap and held the food in, so I was gonna just start eating anyway. I lifted one half and discovered that it was not cut through in the middle. Since the cheese had melted, it was dangling between the two semi-halves... Okay, cheese does not stand between a girl and her lunch, so I pulled the cheese/wrap apart with my strong bare hands. Next, the soggy wrap finally gave as I was about to chew down while the dressing dripped into my palms: the chicken pieces on the top of the half fell helplessly out of my loving hands. And I could only stare at them as my palms were full of juice and I didn't dare to put the wrap down to pick the poor chicken up. So I chewed down anyway, and discovered a piece of sandwich wrapping paper in my mouth. It apparently got stuck on the wrap and successfully passed my inspection, disguised in the exact same color as the wrap... Despite all the mess, I ate half of the wrap. Like I said: nothing stand between a girl and her lunch, especially after she paid for it. But I really wish that I got some real warning that it would be very juicy. Or better yet: design a wrap that doesn't fall apart all by itself. read more

Beyond good subs. If you pay with cash you get either a free desert or bag of chips. I always get the mozzarella, basil and prosciutto sub...fantastic. Get there early as there will most certainly be a line. Some seating but expect to be near the line of people if you go at lunch time. read more
