Great spot for a weekend brunch with a timeless menu and atmosphere. The portions are hearty and everything that we tried was well prepared. The chicken and waffles was a standout. If you like hash, you've simply got to try their duck confit hash. In all honesty, it's hard to go wrong here. Service is friendly and fast--even if there's a couple parties waiting to be seated ahead of you, you'll be right up in no time. Would highly recommend if in the area.

Cute diner in South Boston that hammers home the diner theme while embracing its Boston origins. The portions here are E-NORMOUS. Everything on my plate was taking over the edges. The pancakes, the home fries, the cooked ham, toast, and eggs, it was all hanging off the edges of the plates. Best of all, it is served with a genuine smile, and yes, everything on those plates tastes great. I also got the grits but they really are dry and bland. Vinny Gambini would not be impressed with these. I liked the 80's music playing in the background. It is better than today's pop music, but also enjoyed they avoided playing 50's and 60's doowop. Let this diner do its thing and carry its own voice. Before I leave Boston I will come here one more time to hammer home one more fun breakfast.

Their slogan does not lie ("huge portions, great food"). The "sides" can easily be a meal in and of themselves, so much food we could not finish it all between four of us. The French toast was solid but very dense and almost a bit dry, but the corned beef hash, grilled cheese, eggs and muffin were perfect. Rare to find a classic diner vibe- mikes fits the bill perfectly. Service was attentive and our waitress poured cups of coffee as soon as we sat down. A pleasant experience and meal :)

Mikes is classic and reliable! I went there for the first time recently with some friends who frequent the spot. It's a small space but a really great classic diner vibe that felt like the perfect place to be on a Sunday morning. The food was pretty good, I'd say the home fries were the star of the meal, along with the toast, side of bacon breakfast burrito and the French toast! The eggs Benedict was just a tad too overcooked, so I'd steer away from that, but certainly I'd go back for the breakfast burrito. Our waiter was super great, funny, and helpful. Solid diner!

One of the best diners in Boston! Quick service and all the American classics on the menu!

I visited Mike's on a Friday afternoon. They're only open until 2, so get in there, champ! My partner and I were seated almost immediately. The space is cozy and charmingly anachronistic in terms of decor - the floors should never be updated. They're classic. I had the two pancake two egg meal. The blueberry pancakes were moist, and the eggs were poached perfectly. Slid down nicely with a bit of salt. Come here. It's great.

Parking: street only...so none. Decor: typical vintage diner but very clean Staff: why they got 3 stars otherwise it would have been 2...they are very friendly Food: eggs over easy were over cooked and little to no liquid yoke, instead of recooking they served them. Pancakes were not too bad. The grits were a turn off with a slice of cheese thrown on top. Price: about average for Boston. Breakfast for 3 before tip 60 bucks

A phenomenal diner in the heart of south end! Amazing food and portions with great values! My friend and I shared the premier omelette and chicken and waffles and both were exceptional! The chicken and waffles is filling (don't let the photo deceive you)! A great balance of sweetness from the waffle and saltiness from the chicken. Chicken were juicy and crunchy while the waffle were fluffy and soft. The omelette was filled with whole corned beef! I love that the corned beef adds a light touch of saltiness to the eggs. The potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Grits were also amazing! The taste is similar as eating grits from the south. The service was fast on a Saturday morning before 9am. It was nice and quiet to enjoy the food and the moment! I highly recommend going here if you want to eat breakfast! It will fill you up for the whole day for a really reasonable price!

Pretty good brunch. Didn't try anything exceptional, but I've only been once so I plan to come back to try more of the menu.

Friendly staff. Good food large portions for sure. If you're not a big eater you can share a plate. Parking was hard to find. We are from so cal and had to take a few trips around the block to figure out parking. Overall good food. Time to sleep! lol

It was a lot of food! $20 for the turkey dinner but it was Thanksgiving on a plate. There was a wait . Staff was attentive and food came out quickly.

1 lbs of potatoes and 1 oz of corned beef. $17? Ripped off.

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

Every search for…read morebreakfast spots mentioned Mike & Patty's as a must stop for the best breakfast sandwich you're going to get anywhere. Enough said! I'm a huge breakfast fanatic, especially a good breakfast sandwich or burrito. This is the original location that was started by two friends and has grown to multiple other locations since. We took an Uber here from our hotel. I imagine if you drive over here, parking will be a challenge. It's almost easy to miss. It sits on a corner of a brick building with just writing on the windows. In all my research I did not catch that it is the smallest restaurant in Boston at only 175 square feet. It's basically a room with most of the space taken by the tiny kitchen. There's also a little tiny ledge on the window with a couple of stools for those who may want to dine in. Customers including us took turns walking in and putting in our orders and then stepping out to make room for more people. It had a steady line the whole time we were there. Hours are limited from 7:30-2 so don't delay. Customer service was straight business, kind of the norm in Boston. Their menu is breakfast sandwiches, a couple of burritos and some lunch options like a turkey sandwich, BLT, or a Rueben. For sides, they have hashbrowns or a plain English muffin. For a small menu, they do have quite a few drink options like coffee, tea, juices, and different flavored milks including banana milk which I have never seen. For their food, they use high quality ingredients from local farms and purveyors and have their own bakery for their bread. My eyes fixated on the Breakfast Grilled Crack mainly for the name, but also all the ingredients looked tasty. It was quality eggs, bacon, four cheeses on sourdough bread. I went extra and added sausage to it as well. I also got OJ to wash it down. We realized our only option to eat comfortably was to go back to our hotel lobby to eat. Even with the travel time, the sandwich was nice and warm and the bread was still nice and crispy from the griddle. This sandwich was indeed one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. I almost felt guilty eating it because of how rich and cheesy it was. I would skip the hash brown next time. It did not travel well nor did it have anything special going on with it. Hands down one of my favorite meals of the trip that I would absolutely do again if I am in the area.

At this Fenway location, they have the layout of the space planned out/sectioned off nicely. By the bar you're seated either directly at the bar or at hightop tables in an area with bright lights and there's tv's on playing sports (basically picture your classic bar scene), but then they also have normal low-top seating near the bar (which is more like your regular restaurant experience), as well as a whole section that is dimly lit and has a date night vibe to it. Pretty cool how they can pull off the different vibes within the one space and it all works.

The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out.
