The entire staff was very hard working and friendly, they busted their tails the whole time with a packed house and a 90 minute waiting list...we all enjoyed our meals and our server was great. Only negative if the place was very hot inside. It was packed and probably 90+ degrees outside, so maybe there wasn't much they could do, but it had to be close to 80 inside. read more

Good place to eat and on water but you better go early. A lot of times they don't have a set time they finish taking reservations .. it all depends on how busy they are. That's aggravating coming out of town. They would have had a lot more business from us if we knew the set hours and could make reservations later. read more

It's large, loud, and popular. Seems to be a mix of both tourists and locals. It's on the water so that brings people in. Many different seating areas- deck, bar, high tops, dining room. Get a high top seat by the bar and you can watch the human drama. Service was good. Two entrees- triggerfish and tilapia- were quite good. Prime rib was "ok", which is not the review you want for a high end dish. Sushi was average. Three servings of broccoli were cooked beyond recognition, turning them into green mush from Planet X. Told the waitress they were disgusting, and she did offer a replacement. Prices are on the high side. Go once so you can say you were there. There are many better places to eat. read more

Absolutely awful experience here tonight...left before eating. Arrived at 615 for a 630 reservation. Hostess told us (table of 6) we were early and had to wait. That was fine w us bc we thought we would have to wait until our 630 time. 4 hostesses at front desk don't know what the others are doing. One hostess was very apologetic and told us that we would be seated as soon as this one table got up. Another hostess told another party of 6 that they would be seated at the same table even though we were clearly there before the other table. The older hostess was going back and forth between our party and the other and couldn't make a decision and do the right thing. The other table a bunch of obnoxious NYers lied about being first. They should have sat is both at the same time but because the older hostess waffles and couldn't make a decision we took the high road and left. Not going to give a worn down unprofessional restaurant our $$. Forgot to mention above that while we waited and waited we saw a food runner carrying a huge tray w 6 dinners on it with one hand while dragging a square open topped trash can w the other. First of all, you would expect a place called Filets to have the ability to cook a filet. The steak was bland and tasted like shoe leather. Also for being right on the waterfront the calamari was disappointing, over breaded and over fried. So to put it lightly the food was a letdown, however... It gets worse. For anyone that is looking to visit Filets I'm afraid I've got some bad news... The place was dirty. The outside patio was visibly moldy and moss could be seen on every surface. The fans were full of dirt and dust hanging right over the tables, trash buckets were everywhere, and there was ladders next to tables. There was rice in the salt shakers and rust on the pepper shaker. For meals that are thirty dollars, you would think that your shot glasses wouldn't be plastic, and that after the bartender makes a frozen drink she doesn't drink the leftovers. The service was slow at best. This place was unsanitary and a complete lack of effort and to top it all off I got sick after eating at Filets! Save your money and go eat under the nearest overpass... Which luckily is only a few feet from the exclusive outdoor eating area. Poor effort and quality to say the least. read more

Just left and had the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! We had four orders, three sushi orders and a seafood plate. The seafood plate order was apparently never put in or lost. Waitress never came back after sushi was brought to the table. We were blamed for their screw up! Because apparently they have "two separate restaurants" and it requires different entries into the computer. Management is AWFUL and FULL OF EXCUSES!! They would NEVER apologize and after two different managers came over we were only offered dessert or to-go seafood. Who wants that! Waitress had a HORRIBLE attitude and threw our ticket at us. We had a wonderful meal. Several people have already commented on how much they liked the trigger fish. I couldn't agree more. My trigger fish was topped with melted Brie cheese and a scallop. Filets is truly a diamond in the rough! North Myrtle beach is host to some horrendous restaurants, I came into Filet's with low expectations. Oh boy was I wrong, I ordered the Parmesan shrimp and crab dip as an appetizer, it was delightful, the rest of my party and I scraped the bowl with our spoons! For my entree I ordered a Filet steak,which comes with a salad, and 2 sides. I substituted a cup of lobster bisque for a salad, and I have to say that it was hands down the best lobster bisque I've ever had. Large, meaty pieces of lobster in a delicious, creamy, and thick broth. Around 10-12 minutes later, my steak arrived, my filet was cooked to a perfect rare, as I had requested. My side choices were French fries and the vegetable of the day, which was green beans almondine. The fries weren't great, but fries are fries, the green beans were great though. The service at Filet's is truly great. Our server, Amy, made us feel right at home and treated us like family. She kept the table clear and the drinks filled all night. It is a very rare occasion when you encounter a restaurant with great food and great service. I would most certainly return to Filet's in a heartbeat. read more

Had a small fork and waitress said that she couldn't get me a normal sized fork and there was no knife. Food was just ok. Asked for a baked potato and it came smothered in sour cream which I didn't ask for. This place used to be a decent restaurant but their focus has changed from being a good restaurant to a happy hour and appetizers joint. It's a good place to get drinks and appetizers but absolutely horrible at service and entrees. Went last night and even though they weren't busy the service was incredibly slow. Our server, William Bailey, was one of the worst I've ever had. I asked for a second margarita, he never brought it. My brother ordered the prime rib, he serves him the ribeye so he had to wait for them to cook the prime rib. My mother ordered the Brussels sprouts as her side, she got mac and cheese. I got the wings and fish bites, the wings were cold. Never got an apology from the server for anything and he took FOREVER to bring the check when we were obviously ready to go and disappointed with the meal. Fifteen percent is the lowest I will tip but Mr. Bailey didn't deserve that, never again! read more

My wife and I decided to try some place new this trip, so this was our first time dining at Filet's. We asked for a booth inside and it was comfortable with a nice view of the marina. We had the trigger fish and a N.Y. Strip with a bottle of wine and shared a dessert. Everything was delicious, and the bill was reasonable for everything we had. Our server was Brittany and she was excellent !! She provided recommendations when we had questions and did not steer us wrong. She checked back often to see if we needed anything, but we did not feel rushed. We will be back and asking for Brittany. read more

It's a real shame that Filets has gone so downhill, as it would be our local haunt. We've tried going back several times over the last couple of years in hopes that the service would eventually live up to the view. The location is superb - the service is not! We waited for one of many dirty tables to be cleared, then we were told to wait for "our" waitress to appear, we eventually ordered appetizers and had every intention of ordering diner for four but the service was so appallingly slow and unprofessional that we took a pass.They were obviously understaffed to deal with a full house, but the waitress we had didn't seem to care or hustle. read more

From the moment we walked in, the service was horrible and just got worse. The hostess literally stopped mid-sentence to attend to another customer who wanted to switch tables, didn't say "excuse me" or anything...just walked away leaving us standing there. Then we finally got seated and waited 10 minutes while waitresses walked by our table multiple times and never asked if we'd been helped, if we'd like drinks, nothing. We ended up walking out because not one waitress took our order. And no, it wasn't crowded or busy AT ALL. There were many empty tables. I have made Filet's a place to go to every time I've come to North Myrtle Beach over the last 5 years. This will probably be my last. The service as well as the the food was definitely the worst I've had there. The beef tips were over-cooked and the oysters weren't as good as before. The sushi was ok. We were new to the area,so we decided to try out Filets. They have a special every Wednesday and Thursday of buy one entree get one free, we thought wow what a deal. Let's try it out! Well after we were seated the waitress told us in order to get the special we would have to buy 2 drinks. Well ok it rubbed us alittle the wrong way, but what the heck. We ordered the filets and they were fantastic, wonderful food! We got the bill and a 30% gratuity had been added! WOW! The service was good but not 30% good, especially for only 2 people! My husband asked the mgr about it, he said he was sure it was mentioned in the ad on FB and also on their website. I checked their website, NO mention of a 2 drink minimum or the 30% gratuity. Called the mgr informed him, he said he had informed his waitstaff to inform all customers of this. They make much of their living here off of tourism and I hate being stuck like this, and I will make sure to inform everyone I know about shady practices! I just don't understand why they think they have to be sooo underhanded? I guess their going to get their money one way or the other..... read more
