We recently used Fillmore's to cater my daughter's birthday party and had a fabulous experience. We hadn't tried their food before but thought the English type food would fit our Harry Potter theme. Everything was delicious and our guests were raving about it. We were able to accommodate every kind of eater too, kids, vegans, gluten free, etc. Donna helped us order and was very helpful and accommodating. Delivery was on time and hot. Filmores is an oasis for locals, quenching thirst, satisfying hunger, and curing boredom. Sitting in the bar half of the restaurant is the way to go for quick and friendly service, plus access to the newly added seasonal Football Night menu for food and beer specials. To eat, the wings are always a sure bet. I enjoy their house sauce: a little sweet, a little heat. The Football Night menu also includes a variety of other wing sauces- teriyaki, buffalo, bbq, and garlic parm. I wish they offered these sauces on the regular menu, too. The other appetizers are overpriced. I tried the jalapeno poppers off the daily specials recently and they were stricklingly similar to the frozen ones from TGIFriday's. Super let-down for $11. The mozzarella sticks were also clearly frozen, and cost $9.52 for 6 sticks. The onion rings, also expensive, are delicious though. Drinks are reasonably priced and the selection is pretty good. There are several TVs throughout the restaurant and they usually have on a variety of sporting events. The music stays kicking, lots of camaraderie here, come by to relax and enjoy. read more

I ordered the 13oz blackened steak from this online for delivery. So, subconsciously I thought, since this steak is being delivered, probably by someone ready to get off and start their weekend , it may not have the appeal of being served on a piping hot skillet and whatnot. Nevertheless, I was very impressed. The steak was very delicious and seasoned superbly at perfect temp. Now I selected steak fries and coleslaw as my sides but a baked potato and garden salad was sent. I don't complain about things like this tho. Hey, it's Friday I had a nice steak I didn't have to cook, psssh. So be it - I haven't had a baked potato in awhile and it was a nice accomplice. Best neighborhood pub I have come across! On a whim, I decided to try them out and I wish I had done this sooner. The staff is super friendly, the patrons are all locals and the food is phenomenal. I would say it is a great location to have celebratory dinners with family because the vibe here is so warm and friendly. I had came by myelf but did not feel alone due to the great bartenders working that day. I ordered the clam stuffed mushrooms and 2 Irish coffees. The stuffed mushrooms were a great stand-a-lone dish and tastebud satisfying. I can't wait to come next time with a bigger appetite to try their blackened steak and dessert menu. This is a hole in the wall bar/restaurant which is located right in the middle of a neighborhood. Parking is beyond horrible so plan to park a block or so away and walk. The walk will help with the appetite that you will build up for th scrumptious food that this place serves. The kitchen is teeny tiny but some how out of teeny tinyville, comes the most delishiousness of foods. So far we have visited twice in a month, having the roast beef sandwich, hamburger, fish and chips and shepherds pie. Sweet potato fries and steak fries were also very good. We saw another table getting th French onion soup and it looked very good. They do serve desserts but after the large portions we just had no room for another bite. There is a dining room area which is separate from the bar. You can definitely tell that this place is frequented by the neighborhood. If someone recommended this place to you, consider yourself very lucky. Fillmore's Taven is a real local gem--almost too good to be known out there, therefore it is hidden. A friend (who lives nearby) wanted to come here since they're known for their blackened steak. Let me tell you..this place is so out there, it is almost as if it's a neighborhood secret. It is the only business, smack dab in the middle of all the residencies, you'd think it's unlikely they'd get much business, but it is so busy in here, we waited for more than half an hour for our food. My friends went ahead and ordered their Blackened Steaks, while I chose something I assumed was lighter side, the Black Angus Burger. They have a pretty great draft beer selection, and they had Angry Orchard, which is all that matters. We went during their Happy Hour special, so it came to about $4.25 a glass. We started out with the Baked Clams and they were absolutely delicious; the sauce was buttery but the clams were just fantastic and I felt a rush of nostalgia each time I ate one. Our food came altogether, but let me just say...the Black Angus Burger is probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. I don't say that about a lot about burgers because most of them taste the same, but I requested mine medium-rare, and it was the most perfect medium-rare burgers I've had. Maybe because it was on a club roll, but the meat itself seemed really small and there was a lot of space left on the roll. The Steak Fries were not crispy, but good. Service was absolutely exceptional and efficient--the ladies here are the best! While we were waiting for our food, they kept coming over to fill our waters, take our plates, etc. They were very patient with us and when I mentioned my alma mater, St. John's, they offered us a 10% discount! Been coming here for years now and their food has always been consistent. My husband and I used to go every Thursday to watch the Rangers games, and we had my Mother's Day dinner there this year. Their onion rings are fantastic, as are their wings and stuffed mushrooms. The only thing I am not a fan of there are the baked clams (my husband likes them, I just don't like the spices they add and the breading). On Mother's Day they had this special corn and lobster bisque soup that was delicious. I've tried a few of their pasta dishes (which they change up every once in a while) and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the blackened chicken Alfredo (it wasn't on the menu last time I went, but they made it for me anyway). Blackened chicken is delicious, they make their own seasoning. They have a sit down dining area and also a bar area with some booths and TVs. The bar staff is nice as well. A place that is in the heart of a diverse neighborhood. The only restaurant/ bar that is surrounded by housing and apartments but has been open for decades. I've known this place for some time but never had a reason to go to it. I found out that they have bottomless mimosas and unlimited breakfast platters on Sunday that consist of eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and English muffins. It's a crowd pleaser that you can share with your friends and family. A giant skillet worth stuffing your face after an eventful Saturday night. I am sure this place is great for burgers and wings which I will for sure try. This place has events on different days of the week including special foods and drinks. Also decided to try their Stuffed Mushroom this time, and it was excellent. Some of the best mushrooms I ever had! One small complaint - their service was very slow yesterday. Bad parking, there's never a place to parkSmall bar area, and small dining area, which could probably only seat about 25-30 patrons. But, the staff is incredibly friendly and at their best. Shannon D. a previous waitress was my favorite and sometimes does the Saturday shift. Such a nice woman, if she's there, ask to have her as your waitress. Suzanna is also a very nice waitress, attentive, and extremely friendly to cater to your needs. The soups and meats are phenomenal, especially the French Onion Soup and the Blackened Steak. The blackened steak at Fillmores is the best steak you'll have. The starters are excellent too, especially the wings and onion rings. You also have an option of becoming Fillmore's member, which is a free membership and you add up points each time you dine there. Eventually, you'll stack up enough points to get a $25.00 credit on your next meal. (Bring cash, Fillmores deducts a 3% fee for using cash instead of credit. It does make a difference.) Since moving to the area a little over a year ago my husband and I (and now our daughter) have been slowly working our way through the menu. We have never had a bad experience, especially when Donna is our server! She is the sweetest, and most attentive even when it is packed. The pub is situated in a residential area with street parking. The entrance is not the door under the sign, nor the door with stairs leading up to another door...but its a side step to an alley to the far left. A little bit weird. Once you enter, you walk through the bar to make your way to the tables. Its a nice small place, the waitress is nice and I had a pleasant experience. The food was ok, similar to diner quality. We ordered shepherds pie, wings, and a selection from their lunch menu--something pork with mushroom and mashed potatoes. The service here is slow. Reealllly really slow. I came during lunch hour around 1pm on a Thursday and it was not overly crowded. There was a group by the bar, but there was only 2 other tables sitting by us. The wings came out half an hour after we placed our order, and the entrees were served another half an hour later. The soup was then served to us as an afterthought. It was so slow, my husband had to leave me at the restaurant to drive home to pick up our kids from the bus stop and return to finish his lunch. If I knew it would have taken them such a long time to bring our food we would have ordered drinks and left. The wait time was pretty awful and I hope this was just an off day for them. read more

I have been coming to Fillmore's Tavern for about ten years now. I am never disappointed by the family run establishment, the entire staff is always very helpful and smiling, from the bar tenders to the wait staff. The wings are exceptional and I am never disappointed by the flavor or crispiness! Be sure to try any of the amazing flavors as they will not disappoint. My fiancé loves the baked clams, normally you would think not to order this at a pub but trust me they are always fresh and taste amazing. If you like Mac and cheese be sure to try the skillet Mac and cheese with blackened chicken, this was recommended to us by the waitress Marie and we were very pleased. We work a few blocks away and this used to be a wonderful place to come in for lunch! They must have changed owners or something, because they renovated inside, and completely changed the menu! Not only did food quality go down, but prices wen up! As far as the food goes when we went last, they were fairly busy, so maybe that's why it wasn't as good? Its so sad that a place as amazing as this place was, is now going down the drain... The place is very nice inside. It is a little dark but it fits with the place. Staff has been there for ages, and is super friendly. Service is always fast, except if they are busy. They have a very tiny kitchen.... Il give them another chance or 2 to see if the (possibly new) chef gets any better or if they bring back some of the old favorites on the menu. We shall see! read more

Great neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name! The staff is nice and their manager Mike is THE BEST! My husband and l had a night kids free and he was in the mood for wings (he loves their wings) so we decided to hang for a bit. I had never had the wings. When they arrived they weren't what I expected. They were more a bbq flavor, I was expecting buffalo wings. Mike is very hands on and checks on all the guests and asked me how I liked the wings. When I said I was expecting the typical buffalo wings, (my fault, not his) he immediately said I can get those made for you. I said no I'll be fine, he still went out of his way to get me the kind of wings I wanted. Which is incredibly appreciated. The wings were fresh, crunchy with the right amount of buffalo sauce. They were delicious. Exactly how I like them. I ordered the burger, which came on a fluffy roll, cooked perfectly. It was yummy. Fast forward to two hrs later, the kitchen had closed and I we were in the mood for something sweet. I'm usually not a dessert person, but had a craving for something sweet. We asked Mike if there was a store or bakery open close by, he asked what we needed and I said I'm having a craving something sweet. He offered me a few of their desserts. I chose the brownie with ice cream. What I didn't know till later was that the kitchen staff had left and Mike had gone out of his way for me and personally made me that dessert. The brownie and ice cream were just what I needed. I was a happy girl that night. Service like this is unheard of these days, and that is what made me a customer for life.
