Very cute consignment store. They have tons of great designer items as well as some vintage pieces. Their retail prices were a little higher than I anticipated. The clerk on duty was extremely friendly and sweet. And I was pleased with their rules on consignment. You must make an appointment. Clothing must be hung, and dry cleaned because they do not have a steamer and they want to offer your clothing at the best possible condition. They accept only clothes in season which means if it is summer..they only want summer goods. Items are 50/50 split and on the racks for 90 days. read more

If there was a way to give negative stars, I would. I consigned here twice. The first time, i called and said I was coming with a friend who consigned items already. I was never told things needed to be on hangers, so I didnt. And no one seemed to mind. The second time, I brought a few bags of clothing in, only to receive some major stink eye from the owner. She was beyond upset that I would even think to bring in clothes that werent on hangers. But whatever, she took em. She was very discerning with what she took, so either she was still mad at me or was having an off day. As I looked at the items in the store, there were plenty of items that were over 3 years old, non-label brands (unless JC Penney and Sears are "brands") and really ugly. I peeked into the back room and saw bags of clothing - either stuff is still over priced (good for me) or she has too much of it and cant get it on the sales floor (bad for me). What facinated me was the process of documenting what people brought and which of those items sold - carbon paper. isnt it 2009? Not so surprising that when my consignment period ended in March, I never received a check. I have tried to call about 4-5 times to get my money, but no dice. read more

all i can say is RUDE! I had an appt. to pick up my items and I have never been treated so rudely in my life. The moment I got to the counter she had an attitude for no reason. The woman first argued with my about the current time - she was insistent that it was 2 pm, but it actually was 1. The she told me I was an hour early. And after all that, not even an apology. As far as the items, way overpriced. 1/2 the stuff arent designer labels and you could buy them on sale at Macy's for a cheaper price. The soles on most the shoes are totally eroded and over priced. If you're smart and know how to shop, you'll think this place is a joke and you'll know you can get new items, with a SMILE. Since I'm unable to give negative stars, here you go..... I have been going to this consignment shop since it opened in 1998. The former owner, Teresa Lugo was a pleasure to deal with. I loved to stop in to chat with her for a few minutes and I always picked up something. The new owner is an absolute nightmare to behold! If you ask her a question she responds to you like you're a dim-wit! I have never witnesed a more unfriendly and combative attitude in a place of business. I've actually stopped shopping there because she is more often than not outright nasty! I have to bite my tongue to keep myself from telling her where she should go...literally. This is the WORST consignment shope I have EVER had to deal with! I go in to brows and I have personel on me like you would not believe. This store is not that big, I would say 15 X 20. I then ask about selling and how to go about bringing stuff in. They have such restrictions, 5 pieces of High End merch (cocktail dresses designer suits blah blah blah) all must be Dry Cleaned (I don't have those kinds of clothes and I don't dry clean because I know how to wash my good fabrics properly), and then only "in season" merch. Um hello its the end of Sept and it is 80 degrees. The woman could not even describe to me what "in season" was. Frankly I am surprised that this place is still in business. I've gone in a couple of times only to be greeted with a very fake sounding "hello love!" Merchandise is way way over priced and the attitude is that you are in some super upscale boutique - which it is not. I've never consigned with them but the general consensus is that if you do, you'll be lucky to ever receive a check. I tend to look for jewelry more so than clothing. They had a small thin bracelet marked 14k gold and priced at 150. I looked at it briefly and it was clearly marked 925 (which is sterling). Glad I knew the difference but someone could have easily paid 150 for something worth 10 bucks if they didn't know better. When I imformed them of the error, they were rude as if I was somehow insulting their merchandise. Wouldn't shop here again or recommend. read more

I am quite saddened by some of the reviews because each time that I have visited this store the owner and staff have been extremely pleasant and helpful.She is honest when I asked for her opinion regarding the items I try on. She will tell me when something "does not fit or look right on me". I actually cosigned some items in 2009 for the first time. I totally forgot about the end contract date and went back to pick up my check/merchandise approx. 2 weeks late. The owner was extremely pleasant and understanding. She honored my contract, all my merchandise was sold and the amount that I rec'd exceeded my expectations. My experience with this business has been great and I will continue to do business with them. This is a legit review. I am not a friend or family member. Does visiting a resale shop make you feel like you're slumming? Not this one. The owner is really picky about what she takes for consignment (I know because she rejects my stuff all the time) so most of the items there are nearly-new and quite wearable. The racks are fairly well maintained and the dressing rooms are large enough to spread out in. A nice selection of accessories, shoes and jewelry too. read more

I read the reviews below and am disgusted with how mean spirited women are toward other small women business owners. I too have seen some items over priced and simply commented and she adjusted the price. No one person knows everything. I have purchased top designer labels at a ridiculously low price because the owner was not familiar with the actual cost-I say that was a win for me. Resale is a hit or miss, the same as new retail. I have bought some great things here that I thought were great finds. It is amazing that people would be so nasty and try to deter others from having their own experience. I wonder if the nasty comments come from people who don't make appointments, show-up late for appointments, or simply require A list treatment when they themselves are not so pleasant to deal with. More like "La FAKE mena!" I walked by today and saw an absolutely gorgeous Red Satin Ruffle hemmed dress. I thought, "Ohh that is so gorgeous and would be perfect for my upcoming holiday parties!" So... I ventured in! The saleswoman was a joy to talk to, she was very enthusiastic, which I like! I proceeded to ask the price, she stated it was $125 WITH a 25% discount. I thought, ok not bad... so I ask, "Who makes it?" She shows me the label, states, "I'm not very familiar with the brand, but it's probably from a boutique." Ummm it was 'Twelve by Twelve!' Does ANYONE know what that is!? FOREVER 21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This consignment store was TRYING to sell a $20 dress for over $100!!! I'm outraged... if you're going to own a consignment store... know your brands!!! I wish it ended there... I was wearing a cute hat from Target. Yes, Target. It was probably $8 3 years ago... The saleswoman shows her enthusiasm once again and says, "Ohhh and we have your hat here!" Well guess what... they did... just in a different color. They were trying to sell a TARGET hat that was originally $8 for $32!!!! PLEASE! At that point I HAD to get out before throwing up all over their crap. P.S. Their Louis Vuittons are fake. read more

Unfortunately, I had to give this store a star. I brought in several pieces of clothing, newly dry cleaned and on hangers as the owner requested. She took every piece of clothing except some Gap pieces. I contacted her before my contract ended and she told me I would receive a check for a few hundred dollars but that I should call after the contract expired. I contacted her after the contract expired and she told me nothing had sold. I explained our conversation from the previous month and she rudely told me she would look into it. I have called several times - only to be spoken to rudely again. The owner cannot find any check with my name on it. I asked about my clothing and she stated that if it wasn't sold during the contract she gives the clothes away. I would never trust this vendor again. She is rude and unscrupulous. My next calls are to the Better Business Bureau and the Village of Oak Park. read more

I have continued to sell with La Femmena since 2011... My first payout was my best... but I also have been guilty of not putting that many new pieces there all that often too... In total for the roughly 50ish pieces I left with them I have made almost $200... Gonna be taking in new pieces in the near future seeing as the Holiday season is getting closer now and I made my largest check around September/December last year... I should have paid attention to the reviews on this site but regretfully did not. There are only a handful of people in life so utterly rude that they leave you shaking your head in amazement. This person was one of them. I could go into detail but will not. (I agree with the comment below that I would leave a negative post if the site allowed it.) I don't even want to give it one star. Horrible customer service and I had to really hound the owner to set up an appointment to pick up the remaining clothes that did not sell. Most of my clothes sold, but the hassle related to every step of the transaction - just was not worth it. I almost brought a police escort with me when I went to pick up my check - I was sure the management was going to act up and try not to pay me or make some ridiculous claim, but apparently my professional conduct made them "act right". I even thought about filing a Better Business Bureau report - not that it would do much, but I was just that mad! Nevertheless, I'd never go back - ever. After months of stopping in and e-mailing, I finally was paid the money owed me for my consigned items. The payment was made only after I drove to Oak Park from Naperville for the third time, and the amount of money I was paid (for three gowns, a leather skirt, leather pants and suede pants) was not quite what I had expected. The manager was very rude to me, as if I were inconveniencing her by expecting payment for my items. I'll never do business with these people again. read more

I have experienced this place as a customer and a consignor. The owner only smiles at you if you're buying, and when she sells your stuff, she doesn't give you an honest account of what was sold and rips you off. I can find most items she sells new elsewhere at a better price. Definitely not worth the visit! read more

Wish I had read some reviews before consigning my stuff. Went in a few weeks later, and the owner said that my stuff sold quickly because they were tall sizes, and she would be mailing me a check. Waited a month or so, went back, and she said that she had NEVER HEARD OF ME, and acted like I was trying to steal something. Not really happy with my experience here. Being new to the area I passed this shop and decided to take a peek. I must have been bothering the sales lady because she seemed very annoyed with my questions. You would think knowing I'm a "new" person to the area and her business she would be a little more courteous to me. I was at first considering bring some clothes in but after this experience it makes me a little nervous. I mean what if I run into a problem with some of my items there? The thought of having to discuss it with her disgusts me a little. I am not one to judge a place off of one person usually so I may give them another shoot but maybe down the line. read more

Very dissapointing experience with this shop. Took 5 months to pay me for my designer items that were sold on consigment. The check was very small. And the owner will not even provide me with a list of what items sold. Store management is less than polite to customers. (And I'm being very polite with that assessment). I won't be back. read more

I, too do not want to even give this one star. The original owner, Theresa, was easy to work with. The new owner, who worked there prior, was a big turn off to using this consignment shop. She is very RUDE, totally ignores you even when you have an appointment, and then plays favorites when her friends walk in, giving them "special" pricing. Put it this way, "friends" will pay 1/2, and she saves what her "friends want in a special place in the back. She is more of a professional "picker" to sell high price designer clothes to her friends for dirt cheap prices. You can watch her personality change right while you are in the shop: down right RUDE, to phony sweet smiley personality to her customer/ "friends." I decided a few years ago to never consign there again. I was going to give her another try, but after walking in, was just as disgusted . Unfortunately, I can only give La Femmena two stars. My wife and I both took a number of items there and the new owner was very excited about what we brought in. However, we found them to be very unprofessional and very sloppy with their paperwork. They still do everything with pen and paper and trying to decipher the inventory is very challenging. We extended some items that hadn't sold and were told we would get followup paperwork which never came. When we called to inquire about it, Jackie or whatever her name is became very annoyed that we had the "gall" to make such an inquiry. We decided that as soon as the contract period was up, we would pick up whatever was unsold. When we arrived to pick them up, she had everything ready, but she never said a word and only glared at us. Very strange behavior! Oh, one more thing. On one trip to the store, one of the owners was wearing one of the hats my wife had consigned. When my wife asked about it, she was told she was "modeling" it. Yeah right. Obviously, we won't ever go back and would never recommend it to anyone. read more
