The Fin Japanese restaurant in Fairfield has not changed significantly in decades. The sushi is consistently fresh and served chilled. The lunch menu was more limited than it has been in the past. The restaurant would benefit from some major updating as the decor is drab and the tables are getting rather worn. Service was minimal and the patrons were treated more as an inconvenience then as customers. We tried a few new entrées such as the made to order poke bowls and were happy with both the fresh quality, flavor and quantity.

Been coming to Fin for the past 10 years. Not sure why I haven't reviewed them yet. It's a pretty small restaurant but they have a gigantic takeout portion. They are a well oiled machine....you place an order and it's ready in 20 minutes flat. For the very first time we ate at the restaurant instead of doing take out. It's a bit tight inside. But im kind of used to NYC style seating. The server is friendly and very efficient. We always order sushi sashimi for two, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, Japanese fried rice, and Yaki udon. Food for the price is very good. It's not going to be the best sushi ever but it's very very good for CT. I think the food came out in less than 10 minutes from ordering and we were out the door in 25. Maybe a bit too efficient? Lol. It's Fintastic. You should try it.

Great little hole in the wall Super Fresh sushi. The restaurant seems to do a ton of take out There is approximately eight tables in the entire place for sit down and it was packed. The sushi and sashimi were all very good super fresh and full of flavor. The grilled chicken teriyaki was wonderful super tasty and large portion and tons of amazing fresh veggies The seaweed salad tasted great too with fresh lemon to go with it. Staff was super attentive and helpful The green tea that comes with the meal was so Good and we will Be back Parking is tight but they have a lot they share with other business They do take credit card

Definitely the best sushi we have had around the Westport area. Great ambience for a small Japanese establishment, even though owned by Chinese. The room from inside and out resembles a classic Japanese restaurant with dimmed light and the good "dingy" feel. The sushi counter had like 4 chefs and the service was excellent with free hot green tea. Hot food selection is as good as raw fish, which comes in very big and fresh cuts. My picky daughter loved her udon noodle soup since it's light and kids friendly!

I've been getting food from Fin for years, and what I really enjoy about this place is consistency. They have consistently been offering some of the best and freshest sushi in the area! The service is always great also, but it's their sushi that makes me coming back. Currently they are doing carry-out or delivery only. My daughter and I walked up and ordered, and waited maybe 10 minutes till our food was ready? She had her usual gyozas, tempura shrimp and white rice. I went with Alburi White Tuna for appetizer (Seared white tuna with wasabi yuzu sauce and jalapeno). And for my main course, Sweet Girl Roll (tuna, salmon avocado inside top w. yellowtail jalapeno and salmon roe) and Orange Dragon Roll (spicy crunchy albacore tuna, avocado, crunchy with fatty salmon on top and citrus miso sauce). Mouthwatering stuff! So fresh, and flavors are out of this world! Can't wait to visit again.

Fresh, well-made, no complaints. Service was attentive and friendly. Left happy. Sunday I brought my daughter before heading to a show. We ordered the spicy salmon roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a sushi and sashimi combo plate to share. Everything was fresh and delicious -- the fish was clean and the rolls were well-constructed. The combo plate was generous and beautifully presented. Service on Sunday was a little rough -- they had just opened and were clearly still getting into gear -- but honestly, the food made up for it and I wasn't in a rush to hold it against them. Wild Rice is a solid, unpretentious neighborhood sushi spot with great prices and fresh fish. For Fairfield, it punches above its weight. We'll definitely be back -- probably sooner than expected, given my track record.

A fairly standard menu offering with the exception of some interesting special rolls. I ordered a Sashimi 4 Me, Botan Ebi Nigiri & Jasmine Hot Tea. The Sashimi dinner came with a choice of soup or salad. The Sashimi was all very fresh, vibrant in color and properly presented along with the delicious Ebi. The customer service on the other hand was fairly un attentive and seemed to be a bit behind on handling the take out customers coming in, but still a timely sit down lunch from my experience. Overall a 6.9/10 offering fresh ingredients, properly prepared and presented.

Empty boxes stacked on chairs -bathrooms not the cleanest -not a lot of variety sent out with way too much Edamame as an option -they slow rolled our group of 5 after I assume they thought we ate enough. Positives: -The food was excellent -very cool concept I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe noon Monday after St Valentine's Day when they are closed the next day (tues) was not the best time to go. Maybe they were low on supply. I may try again some time but definitely not bring my family of 6 to test it out again. I hesitate to write a semi negative review but felt like I should. I clearly asked beforehand if I could get a side prepared directly from the kitchen in a separate bowl of noodles so it wouldn't be mixed in on the hibachi stove and turn into leftovers. They said yes -- but what I received was basically a tiny sliver of food. It honestly looked like scraps or leftovers. It was such a small portion that it didn't even make sense for what we paid. What made it worse was that the people sitting across from us received noticeably larger portions -- way bigger plates with much more food -- while ours were tiny. It felt completely unfair. The service also wasn't great. When I called ahead, I was told I couldn't make a reservation. But when we arrived, they asked if we had one. Then they said they only start taking reservations later in the day, which was never explained on the phone. The communication was confusing and inconsistent. Overall, between the unfair portions, messed-up orders, and poor service, this place really let us down. For the price you pay at hibachi restaurants, you expect quality and fairness -- and unfortunately, that wasn't the case here.

I think the first time I ate there was around 1986 or '87 as a kid, and honestly, it looks much the same today. Is it high-end dining? No. But that's never been the point. It's solid, reliable, family-friendly, and consistent. Where else can you get a salad, soup, a generous hibachi dinner, and a little entertainment from the chef for around $35 a person? Kids are under $20, too. In an era when a casual dinner out can easily cost twice that (or even a sandwich and coffee), it's refreshing to find a place that still delivers good value. Some restaurants spend decades chasing trends. Others figure out what works and stick with it. After more than 40 years, Sakura is still doing exactly that, and I'm glad it is.

Here's my opinion/experience on everything that others complained about. 1. Parking. There's a giant lot surrounding the restaurant and we were there at 7 PM on a Saturday. No issues. Parked right by the front door (the place was packed & parking was a non-issue). 2. Wait times. I called at 4 and made a reservation for a party of 4 at a hibachi table. They were able to give us a 7:15 reservation and we were sitting by 7:19. 3. The crowded lobby. Yes, it's crowded. They do a good job of trying to get people through and to their respective tables. 4. The food. I thought the food was amazing. My seven year old even tried things she normally does not. We all had an amazing dinner and the food was perfectly cooked. 5. Atmosphere. The hibachi room is loud (like really loud) when it's busy/full. This really was the only less than ideal part. There's like 8-10 hibachi tables in one room with low ceilings so it's a lot of stimulation. My grandma couldn't hear anything throughout dinner. And idk why anyone would say the place was looking aged/worn down. It looked perfectly fine to us. 6. Service. Absolutely amazing! And our hibachi chef was so entertaining. More entertaining than any hibachi I've had anywhere else. Overall, 5 stars! We will be back. Probably soon!
